Chris Sligh Signs with Brash Music

Chris Sligh Signs!

It’s not official yet, but last night, Chris Sligh announced in a radio interview with WAY-FM that he is in the ”midst of signing” a record deal with the independent label Brash Music.  Brash is the label that recently released a re-mastered version of “Take a Chance on Something Beautiful,” the CD from Chris’s band,  Half Past Forever.

Listen to an acoustic version of one of Chris’s new songs, “Pleased” from last night’s radio interview,  here.  His voice sounds gorgeous, check it OUT.  Chris has got a bunch of his demo’s posted at his MySpace.  Give a listen

Go Chris!

ETA: A bulletin from Chris’s MySpace after the Jump….

Hey guys,

I’d like to let you guys know that I am in the midst of signing my record deal with Brash Music. The deal is negotiated, everything has come through, the only thing left is my signature on the dotted line. I have started pre-production on my album and tracking starts on Monday November 26!

We will have my single to radio at the first of the year and I start touring hard in February. The album will drop the last Tuesday of March or the first Tuesday of April.

I’m extremely excited to work with the guys from Brash…they love music and they love my music, so it was a perfect fit.

More news to come.

Chris

Sligh sounds great on that song. I didn’t even realize it was a Christian song until almost the end. Could have been about anybody…

The song is pretty! So it’s just Chris that got signed, not his band too? Congrats either way!

Heh, I could listen to a lot from that voice! Great! The lithp seems to be under control. Just don’t make me look at him. (I know, shallow and harsh of me, but the visual just gives me the willies.)

Great vocal on “Pleased.” I’m so happy for Sligh. I will be checking out his future material. :)

Brash Music has really done wonders with Aaron Shust in the Christian market. It could be a good match for Chris as well.

I have always said this before — of the remaining six male contestants in season 6, Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey were the most vocally powerful — meaning, the two of them could hit the high notes without sounding strained or shouty and Sligh probably was the more vocally trained of the two.

His best song of his album ( which he himself wrote ) is arguably IN A MOMENT. This song really showcased his vocal strengths to perfection. Listen to his voice at the 3:46 mark — just gorgeous and outstanding.

That song in fact, has the potential to become a standard hit that can be sang for momentous occasions.

Just like Taylor Hicks’ THE RIGHT PLACE, it is very underrated and deserves more exposure.
