Constantine Maroulis Re-Ups for Another Year of “Rock Of Ages”

Via Broadway World:

Tony Award Nominee Constantine Maroulis will continue to rock eight times a week in the critically acclaimed, smash hit musical comedy ROCK OF AGES through summer 2010. The show opened on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 W. 47th Street) following previews which began on Tuesday, March 17, 2009.

“I am thrilled to be able to continue in my role in ROA,” says Constantine Maroulis. “To be able to create a role on Broadway and get nominated for a Tony has been a dream come true. I want to thank the producers for all the support they have given me and this show.”

Erm, gee. Lucky us! Another year of Constantine on Broadway–the guy-who-opened-doors-for-rockers (lulz!)

All kidding aside, he’s been getting good reviews and there’s that Tony nomination (I know!!!), so good on Constantine.

PS:

After the jump: Constantine visits the ladies of the View on Friday, after a short interview, he and the Rock of Ages cast sing a medley of songs from the show.

I barely remember Constantine from AI, but I did watch the Tony Awards this year and was shocked at how bad he was. Hopefully, he’s better on Broadway, but his performance killed any desire I had to see the show. I’ll be in NYC this weekend (thank you work) and I’m planning on seeing Hair and Billy Elliot instead.

  • Squirrely:

I’m seeing Hair and 9 to 5 next weekend. I’m really excited to see Hair.

Gotta say, I think Constantine is the biggest douche ever, perhaps more so than Jon Gosselin. But…I saw Rock of Ages a few months ago. He was good. Really good. Of course, they serve alcohol during the show (at your seats!), so perhaps that tainted my review of his performance.

  • RV65:

He shouldve won the Tony for his excellent portrayal of a Bingo announcer in that Broadway Musical the title of which Ive forgotten……….there are screencaps available though…….he was so realistic there!…..tsssss…..

How this guy remains in a business that requires singing is one of life’s greatest mysteries. He is not just a tool, he is an untalented tool.

I have 3rd row tickets on 10/30, I’ll report back. I can’t resist hair band songs. And I did like him on the show, I liked his voice. But he is a little greasy.

  • HoldMe:

LOL Jon Gosselin is a hero not a douche, anyone that took the shit he took from that control freak and not murder her deserves an award.

This loser also called DA gay and couple other things

I had never heard of them until they announced their divorce. I’m not sure that anyone who has 8 kids and a girlfriend on the side can be considered a hero. Don’t know anything about the wife, but the guy had 8 freaking kids with her. If she’s that bad, then it’s his own damn fault.

Connie, see, there are peeps that make you look relatively good. Relatively.

    sorry… double post!

Squirrely , I also love musicals both stage productions and films. I usually try to see both of a particular presentation. Dancing is the added bonus. I loved Hair in the stage production! Enjoy! Enjoy!

I didn’t see The View, but I did see the Tony Awards, and Constantine was very good. I am happy he has had this success.

On the show, I’d look forward to each week just wondering what Constantine would do. At the time, I considered him to be a “rocker” and enjoyed his performances. Yes, he has done some not-so-nice things, but I find him quite interesting.

My favorite that season was Anthony Fedorov. He has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard at an audition (in all 8 seasons). His ballads and National Anthem are some of my favorite performances.

I really wish that other people had the chance to really *know* Constantine. As a reporter for a few Brooklyn publications, Constantine called during his season (from LA to NYC) and stayed on the phone giving an interview for a half hour (it was supposed to be only ten minutes, since he was rushing to record Bohemian Rhapsody for the Queen tribute album) and really was humble and nice during the whole interview. One of the reasons we spoke so long is that he is a crazy baseball fan and that took up part of the conversation.

I then later went to a local minor league baseball game (where he sang the National Anthem) for another interview and he was great. A lot of fans could only get Standing Room Only (it was opening night) and Constantine went over and brought them in to sit with him and his Mom and Brother (nice people) and took pictures with all who came over to him and asked him. He also spoke on cell phones to their kids at home, while *choking* down a hot dog.

Honestly, he deserves all the success that he has received. (and I am not a fangirlie adoring fan) Just a fan of a nice guy with talent. BTW, the National Anthem was great.

Me either, well I heard of him when they started making comparisons to Octo-mom.
