Dancing With The Stars – Premiere – The Top 12 Perform – One Goes Home

Jeffrey Ross and Edyta Sliwinska are eliminated

Brooke and Derek have the high score – 28, Cloris and Corky the lowest – 16

ETA: I’m having a harder time tonight deciding who will go home tomorrow. I think Cloris Leachman, is going to be delighting audiences with her humor for a few more weeks despite the fact that she’s older than dirt, and dances like it. Kim Kardashian sucked large tonight, but I think dancing last may help her. Susan Lucci got the pity edit, plus she improved, and I’ll bet she’s got a fan base. Rocco Dispirito also improved a lot tonight, and looked, dare I say, kinda sexy out there.

Hm…I’m thinking Ted McGinley may get wacked tomorrow. His dancing was mediocre, his scores were average and he danced in the middle of the program…

The best tonight: Brooke Burke–wow, that was an awesome Quickstep, she was gliding all over that dance floor! Misty May-Treanor–She and her partner Max are developing some fantastic chemistry, and I have to say, I enjoyed Rocco Dispirito tonight. He definitely gets the most improved award.

Recap and Videos after the JUMP…

Last night our celebrities laid it all on the line! It was crazy! 12 will perform again! One will be sent home! This is Dancing with the Stars!!!!

The first couple safe to compete tonight is…

Lance and Lacey – Quickstep – No surprise these two are safe. I expect them to go deep. Lacey’s graphic teaching techniques are, uhm, unique. Quickstep to The Cure! What a cute couple! That’s a tough dance, but they look like they’re having fun. There’s definitely some chemistry developing there. Len says, “You moved well around the floor.” He didn’t like their posture or hold. Bruno says, “You bring a French take…knows how to sell it…great performers…I like it.” Carrie Ann says, “I wasn’t really impressed…a little too free-flowing.” Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 6, Bruno – 8 – 21 – 1-800-868-3407.

Misty and Max – Mambo – Max shows Misty how to move her hips like a woman. She doesn’t already? Misty looks awesome in her orange fringe. Wow that was HOT. Misty is like fire moving across the floor. Carrie Ann says, “Much better than last night…work a little more on your arms.” Len says, “Very brave…your hips were working well.” Bruno says, “You have the power and the attack…ease off [the shoulders] and extend the arms.” Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno, 7 21 – 1-800-868-3412

Maurice and Cheryl – Mambo – Maurice says the Mambo is much more his style. Rules! Technique! says Cheryl… “I’ve always had the moves, now I know the rules,” says Maurice. And yes, Maurice is much better than he was last night. He has a tendency to stop and lose the flow of the dance, but he moves pretty well and has a few tricks up his sleeve. Bruno says “Dynamic, energetic, exuberant…it strayed a little bit…but I like parties.” Carrie Ann thought the transitions were very smooth. Len says, “I think there’s a lot more to come.” He didn’t like the freestyle moves. Fuddy duddy! Carrie Ann – 7, Len, 7, Bruno – 7 21 – 1-800-868-3404

Brooke and Derek – Quickstep – The dance is all about posture, says Derek. Then use her baby as a handy prop to practice. Don’t squish the baby! These two make it look easy, they dance with ease and grace, and seem to be having a ball out on the dance floor. Not labored at all, despite the difficulty of the dreaded quickstep. These two are developing some nice chemistry, too. Len says, “Best dance so far.” Bruno begins to scream, and then at the top of his lungs, “PURE HOLLYWOOD!” Carrie Ann says, “Last night was great, tonight was FANTASTIC.” The judges likey! Carrie Anne – 9, Len – 8, Bruno, 9 – 28 – 1-800-868-3405.

Cloris and Corky – Mambo – What will Cloris do tonight? Hee! She’s bummed that she’s older than the Mambo, developed in Cuba in the 40’s. OK, her dancing pretty much sucks, but this is hilarious. The spanking, the shimmying, Cloris’s big flouncy skirt. Honestly, Cloris just may kick Corky’s ass. The audience loves it. Cloris says she bribed the judges, and they all pull out ten dollar bills. Carrie Ann says, “I give you points for entertainment…this crowd loves you.” Len says, “I got a good look at your coconuts, you can shake them.” Bruno says, “I’ve never seen a mambo like this, and I don’t think I’ll ever see it again.” Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 5, Bruno – 5 16 1-800-868-3408

Toni and Alec – Quickstep – Alec says she isn’t breathing properly. Hm. This isn’t as good as last night. Toni may be forgetting to breath. The judges really like it, though. Bruno, “Beautiful, but you tightened up in your shoulders, you had a beautiful hold in the beginning.” Carrie Ann said, “I think you did very well.” Len says, “I thought the whole thing was very nice.” – Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 23 1-800-868-3403

Warren and Kym – Quickstep – “The quickstep, it ain’t no joke,” says Warren. Kym notes that Warren isn’t built for the quickstep. Warren isn’t bad for a big giant guy. He’s surprisingly light on his feet, even if his footwork is a little murky. Len says, “For entertainment value, it was fantastic, the technique wasn’t so hot.” Bruno says, “A ton of fun.” Carrie Ann says, “Fun, but Len is correct…” Carrie Ann says he did the right steps, but the technique was lacking. Carrie Ann – 7, Len -7, Bruno 8 – 1-800-868-3413

Ted and Inna – Mambo – Ted plans on being the Mambo! King! He’s not bad, but he’s stiff–he doesn’t look comfortable in his own skin. And there’s no chemistry to speak of with Inna at this point. He was better last night, I think. Carrie Ann says, “There’s a bit of an awkwardness to the way you move…ease up on some of the movements.” Len says, “Tonight, you’ve done a very commendable mambo.” Bruno says, “You squeezed every ounce of fun out of it…learn to listen to the music and go with the rhythm.” Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno – 7 – 19 1-800-868-3406

Cody and Julianne – The Quickstep – “Age ain’t nothin’ but a number!” says Cody. Dude, you’ve got age on your side. Chill! Quickstepping to Cheap Trick, except some lame chick is singing. I think this is a tiny bit of a mess, Cody is energetic, but he seems to be all over the place. But the judges like it. What do I know? Says Bruno, “King and Queen of the Prom! What charm and energy…watch your footwork.” Carrie Ann says, “Cody you’ve come from being a boy to a man.” Len says, “It’s a difficult dance…you controlled yourself…overall you did a very good job.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 23 1-800-868-3401.

Rocco and Karina – The Mambo – “We have to bring Rocco’s hips to life!” says Karina. Sounds like a lost cause, but wait! Still not a lot of hip action from Rocco, but this is way better than last night, and he looks like he’s having some fun. Len says, “That was much better…well done.” Bruno says, “What a turn around…what did you do last night? I’m stunned.” Carrie Ann says, “That was super sexy! I’m blown away.” Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno, 7 – 21 – 1-800-868-3402

Susan and Tony – Susan is getting the pity edit. Poor Susan is trying so hard! She’s such a perfectionist! Although she still looks a little frail, that was better than last night. But, this quickstep requires more grace than flat-out energy like the Cha Cha. Carrie Ann says, “So much more power…even though you had a little stumble at the end.” Len says he knew she’d be better in ballroom. He feels very smug. Bruno says, “Class and elegance and glamour…I didn’t notice the mistake.” Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 7, Bruno – 8 – 22 1-800-868-3411

Who is going home? Jeffrey and Edyta. Surprise! NOT. Jeffrey is wearing a black sparkly eyepatch. “What a nightmare,” says Jeffrey. “They said Edyta would be easy on the eyes,” jokes Jeffrey. But seriously, “This is the most fun I’ve ever had…If I can do it, you can do it,” he says. Well, you didn’t quite do it, but whatever. Last joke, “I’m more Ha ha ha than cha cha cha…” Oy.

Kim and Mark – Kim swears that she DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO SHAKE HER BUTT. And guess what? She doesn’t. No, they aren’t dancing to “Big Butts”. Yeah, they are. OK, now I’m just scared. Mark’s trying his best, but Kim has no game. She’s like a lump out there on the dance floor. Bruno admonishes her, “with the assets you’ve got and you don’t use it.” Len says, “You just have to come out and sizzle, but you didn’t.” Carrie Ann is kind, “I think you did really good with what you had…keep going for it Kim.” Carrie Ann – 6, Len – 6, Bruno, 6 -18 1-800-868-3410.

Jeffrey and Edyta dance out…but we don’t get to see it. Sorrow!

I definitely don’t understand the scoring this season – it’s all over the place, with too many ties.

I loved the humor in Cloris & Corky’s routine, then she got carried away by talking over the judges comments.

    Maks! Welcome back!

Kim, Ted, Cloris – take your pick – they’ll all go before the others.

  • KrazeeK120:

Rocco is a cutie. PJ or Bax (canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t remember who said it, sorry lol) pointed out in chat tonight that he bears a slight resemblance to Michael Johns at times. lol.

Ahem, Sarah, it was me, thank you very much! :)

I had a few more thoughts since I last posted…

I pretty much exactly echo MJ’s thoughts.

And…I’m still rather disturbed that a woman older than my grandmother was talking about “shaking her coconuts.” Disgusting.

Oh and about that song that Maks and Misty danced to, “Black Mambo.” Does anyone remember when Benji & Heidi did an AWESOME mambo to that song on SYTYCD?? Hearing the song brought back good memories of that for me.

Brooke was the best, IMO. However, I don’t think Kim K. was as bad as many think. She came on as probably one of the least liked contestants because of her reality shows and pre show reputation.

However, honestly, I think what hurt her most was her partner doing extra things, jumping around and as Len said *overcompensating.* I don’t call it that, but I do call it *showing up your partner.*

We know you can dance, Mark. There is no reason to throw in extra tricks and go overboard trying to make your partner look less than you. You are supposed to dance as a team and that extra shaking that Mark did, made it look like a solo performance where he was trying to win a job.

OTOH, Derek let Brooke have a solo (yes, she was capable of it, ) and I’m not suggesting that Mark let Kim do a solo, but HE shouldn’t be overdancing either. It’s a couples contest and he should keep the tricks to a minimum. His dancing like a jumping bean only made poor Kim look worse.

I know it’s far from *poor* Kim, but let’s give the girl a chance and even if the viewers don’t, her partner should. Shame on you, Mark!!!!

  • J.S.G.:

Does being 82 years old give one licence to act without dignity, class and commn sense and then be rewarded for it.
For me, Cloris Leachman is far from being funny and it is time for her to go.

  • jersey:

I tuned in late and missed the first few last night but I have to agree with the Rocco love. He just seems like he’s having a blast. And I got to see him twice last night since he was also on “The Biggest Loser” – LOL.

ETA: MJ, what happened to the pool link? I neglected to bookmark it and it appears to have disappeared from the side of the page. Does anyone have the link? Thanks.

  • sailormoon:

Alec, Maks, Mark, & Rocco are HOT!!!…and Cody’s cute ~ haha

Toni, Misty, & Brooke did really well too. Cloris is funny, but I think she’s overdoing it and it’s becoming a little distracting…and yeah, she’ll last maybe another week or two.

I feel sorry for Mark because I like him, but don’t like Kim at all. I just about spit out my drink at her “I’m reserved” comment.

I’m thinking it’s gonna be Mambo McGinley or Non-shakin’ Ass Kim gone, although she might pick up a few votes for going last.

  • jersey:

Okay, the pool link is back, but it doesn’t appear that we can select who we think will be voted off tonight. The pool indicates that voting is closed already for tonight. How were we supposed to pick who gets voted off before we saw their dances last night? Hmmm, well at least I put 20 points of Jeff last night!

  • pj:

Yeah, Jersey, I put 20 points on him, too. If we aren’t able to pick for tonight, I’m okay with that. I am not sure who’s going home.

  • i was wondering bout the pool also
there is a note there that says.. picks due before tuesdays show for both nites…. points will be given (if u put 20 on one for one nite u get 20 for the week) at least thats the way i read it

if you split points between 2 you get the points for one or both that go home this week

or i’m losing my mind and not reading right :) hehe

  • mj:

Really? That doesn’t seem right. I can’t pick who is going to be voted off before I see them dance! I’m going to write to the admin.

Actually, I picked Jeffrey and got all the points there were to get. Sort of weird, if you ask me.

  • So, the pool. Tell me if I am understanding this right.

Here’s what the “note” from the admin says:

Two people will be eliminated in week 1 – one on Tuesday night and one on Wednesday – you will receive the points you allocate to both of these contestants. First picks due before the Tuesday show.

So, basically, we have 20 points to allocate for the week. Let’s say I put 10 on Jeffrey and 10 on Kim because I wasn’t sure who would go last night. Well, Jeff was eliminated last night, but say, Cloris is eliminated tonight. So, in that case, I’d only get 10 points. Whereas, if I put all 20 points on Jeff, I’d get all 20 points because he was eliminated last night.

So, we’ll still get points, as long as we put them on the people who were eliminated. We just don’t get two separate chances to get them. It really just benefits the people who split their points, or put points on someone other than Jeff for last night.

At least, that’s the way I’m reading it.

ETA: And actually, it DOES benefit me because I put all my points on Jeff last night, AND I have no idea who is going tonight. So I don’t have to worry about it because I got all the points for the week already. Heh.

  • pj:

That’s the way I’m reading it. :) I really have no idea, but I bet it’s Kim, Ted, Cloris, or the bond HM guy. Like I said, I have no idea.
