Eliminated tonight: Cody and Julianne
No surprised tonight, as Cody and Julianne “get their marching orders” as Len predicted Monday night. Tonight’s results show was packed with performances. The best was John Legend doing his neo-soul thang performing his new single, “Green Light”, as dancing girls shimmied around him. Aretha Franklin has seen better days, but hey, she’s the Queen of Soul! I’m not going to bitch. Julieanne Hough should stick to dancing. I’ll just leave it at that.
In case anyone cares, the finals of the kids competition took place between Kirill and Hannah, Mitchell and Maria and Craig and Samantha during the 8 pm recap show. We’ll find out who wins next week.

The show opens with Aretha Franklin performing “Chain of Fools”. The pros dance their asses off. Aretha can’t hit those high notes like she used to, but she still is, you know, the Queen of Soul. Aretha will be back later to sing “Respect.” She has a Christmas album out right now. Performing with her are Karina Smirnoff, Anna Trebunskaya, Dmitry Chaplin, and Louis Van Amstel.

After the break, Leona Lewis sings “Bleeding Love”. Maks and Karina dance!
Scores recap is next. Lance and Lacey have the biggest lead ever in the semi-finals.
Each of the judges choose a contestant pair to talk up. At this point everyone’s a winner! Well, not really.
Julianne Hough performs “My Hallellujah Song” Julianne suddenly has a southern accent! Lacey, Mark and Derek dance along. She taped this a few weeks ago, pre-surgery, just as she was about to collapse into a writhing ball of pain.
After Julianne’s video, Samantha interviews the contestants, without their pros, backstage.
Neo-soul singer, John Legend, says working with choreography is going to be “a little like working on American Bandstand with a little Soul Train.” Legend is up after the break. He performs “Green Light” from his new album Evolver.
Next up, a video featuring contestant family members.
Aretha Franklin is back to sing “Respect”. Reigning champions Kristy Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas dance.

I think TPTB have figured out a good formula here. Almost all of us who watch SYTYCD are also fans of this show. Take one of our favorites and put ‘em on as a pro. These two guys are so hot, hot, hot…and seem to be really nice men.

Are we going to get video of Maks and Karina? (I missed it. Sorry. But I kinda need a Maks fix. I do like Dmitry, too, but he’s not the same as Maks. Weird that the Russian from SYTYCD is Dmitry, not Carrie Ann’s boy toy Artem. He’s really good, too.)

Thanks for the video, mj. I needed my Maks fix (or should that be a Maks fiks?) I didn’t realize that was Anna Trebunskaya as the second woman in the Chain of Fools dance. Anna and Karina in the same dance is sssssmokin’. Wow. I wonder if both of those dances will be on the tour? I might have to buy a ticket for the first time if Maks is doing the tour. Wonder if Mel B. is planning to do the tour so Maks has a celeb partner. I can’t imagine Misty, Laila or Willa on the tour. I’d love to see Tia Carrere come back and do it, though. Those two had the Best Tango Eva in season two of DWTS.
Cody had a very respectable run for an 18-year-old. I’m sure his mom is one proud lady. He seems like a really nice young man. I hope my daughter brings home one just like him some day. ETA: He’s the only kid who has ever made it this far.
Boy, they really packed the acts in tonight. Leona Lewis sounds terrific live. It was great to see Aretha. Plus, Maks and Karina are so hot together. He’s choreographing the tour so I’m sure it will be great. It was also fun to see Kristy and Mark back on the floor. She looked like she was really enjoying herself tonight, which is something she had trouble with last season. Technically, she is perfect but she had a little trouble getting people to connect with her, a little like Brooke - although Kristy is the better dancer.
For some reason, I didn’t see Dmitry dance or maybe I didn’t realize it was him so I’m going to have to watch the video here - thanks, MJ. He is one of my faves, too. Count me in as another who would love for him to be a pro next season.
I wonder how Kim’s shoulder is - she didn’t seem all that thrilled to be going into the finals, especially considering that I don’t recall her ever being in the finals before.
Should be a great finale next week, other than Miley. They all have their good & bad points for me, so, may the couple with the most votes win!
Kym was in the finals once that I know of, with Joey Fatone. I can’t remember her being in them other than that though.

From the 3 pros in the final, Kym had been there once with Joey fatone (Usually she got celebs who just cannot dance) and become runner up. This is the first time for Derek after three season in DWTS.
And Lacey will try to be the third female pros who win the mirror ball in their first debut in DWTS. (After Cheryl and Julianne) Other debutantes who make it to the final in their first season, Anna T in season 2 become runner up and also Karina S in season 3 become runner up too.
The final 3, it will be nice to see if the three couples will dance with the same dance style and song like season 6, so we can compare who are the best couple.
