Dancing With The Stars – Top 5 Performance – VIDEO

So Mya basically kicked everyone’s ass tonight. She should win the whole thing, but she won’t. It’ll be Donny Osmond, I’m sure of it.
The judges were very generous with their comments and their scores tonight. But, they graded on a curve, as you can see from the combined scores below. Yeah, Mya is way out front.
Mya – 59
Joanna – 52
Kelly – 51
Donny – 50
Aaron – 50
Either Kelly or Aaron is going home tomorrow night. I think Aaron is toast–he doesn’t have the fanbase to carry him farther, I don’t think. It’s possible Joanna could get cut too. Mya and Donny? Definitely safe.
Recap and Videos after the JUMP…
We’re down to 5 stars, set to dance two complete routines–one ballroom and one Latin. The theme for the Latin roundis dance through the decades.
Ballroom Round
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin – Quickstep – Mya and Dmitry glide across the floor, as if on air. I don’t see any fancy props, just some awesome dancing. Surely Len can’t object? Len says, “There is a disappointment for me….because I couldn’t find anything to criticize” OH LEN! Bruno says, “This is quality!” Carrie Ann says, “You made something difficult and intricate…flow with ease and grace.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 10 , Bruno – 10 – 29 -1-800-868-3411 – VIDEO
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff ‘“ Foxtrot -Oh boo effin hoo! Aaron is bitching about never winning anything. aAaron was almost eliminated last week despite topping the leaderboard, because NO ONE LIKES HIM. Karina isn’t feeling well, and the dancing lacks…some verve. Bruno says, “I felt it was a little bit tense…it’s a brave attempt, it wasn’t as smooth and free as it could have been.” Carrie Ann, the foot police says, “Your foot came off the floor…I saw your effort…but there was a loss of fluidity.” Len says, “I am proud of you, whatever happens…for a young man, I think you’ve done very very well.” ‘“ Carrie Ann – 7, Len – 8, Bruno 8 – 23 – 1-800′“868-3401 – VIDEO
Joanna Kupra and Derek Hough – Quickstep – Joanna recognizes that Mya is her biggest competition. Not as light and airy as Mya, or as effortless. A lot of hopping, running and jumping going on here. They get a standing O. Carrie Ann says, “Your legs…you forget to point your toes…a little out of sync.” Len says, “There was a lot of running about…you went wrong…this is not the standard for the quarter final.” Bruno says, “Difficult dance…downstairs, there were a few issues…not one of your best performances.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 7, Bruno – 8, 23 -1-800-868-3415. – VIDEO
Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel – Foxtrot – The judges loved this, but I thought it was a little clunky. But what do I know. Kelly has the audience on her side, even when she falters. But she strikes me as a wee bit spoiled–she gets by without doing the work. I have a feeling it’s the story of her life. Len says, “I thought your posture was good, your footwork was a distraction.” Bruno says, “Light and ethereal…you sustained the performance.” Carrie Ann says, “The moment that you have a breakthrough, the audience goes crazy for you.” – Carrie Ann – 8, Len -8, Bruno – 9 – 25 – 1-800-868-3416 – VIDEO
Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson – Viennese Waltz – More whining! Donny has no down time. Ooo Donny. Lay off the ham, dude. Hammy and average. Eh. It doesn’t matter how he dances. He’s going to win, you know. Standing O! Peeps love Donny. Bruno says, “You can really play it…it was like watching a Lifetime movie.” Carrie Ann says, “I found it mesmerizing…your posture has improved.” Len says, “It was all a bit arty-farty.” – Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 8, Bruno – 9 – 26 – 1-800-868-3405 – VIDEO
Before the Latin round, the pros dance a routine. – VIDEO
Latin Round – Each dance will feature a different decade.
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin – 70’s Samba – They’re going to incorporate some disco moves into their samba. Oh Em Gee. Ya, another awesome routine from Mya. She’s HOT. Dmitry’s costume is LOLtastic. Diggin’ the pornstache! Carrie Ann says, “That was an incredible samba,” Len says, “Mya you are absolutely on fire…you have produced two dances….with no gimmicks.” Bruno says, “You are unbelievable…I love bad girls….” Bruno breaks into “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Tom deadpans, “You managed to impersonate Diana Ross and a strangled cat at the same time.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 30 PERFECT SCORE. The first this season. – VIDEO
Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff – 90s Samba – Yay for clips of Aaron when he was a bratty little child star in the 90’s. What the hell is 90’s style? Aaron is back to being frenetic, rather than sexy. He’s pulling annoying faces. Len says, “You came out and performed it…you sold it…well done.” Bruno says, “All that energy has finally made good…” Carrie Ann says, “You are truly a great performer.” Aaron said he almost threw up. TMI! Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno -9 – 27 – VIDEO
Joanna Kupra and Derek Hough – The future – Paso Doble – When I was a kid, we all thought we’d have flying cars by the year 2000. So, the imagining of the future as robot world is a little cliched. And all the black light crap made it hard to see the steps. Having said that, there were some pretty impressive moves in this routine. Bruno says, “A masterful reinvention of a classic.” Carrie Ann says, “Outstanding execution of the theme…Joanna you didn’t miss a step.” Len says, “Genius…the content was fantastic.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 29. – VIDEO
Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel – 60’s Jive – The choreo with the doll was kind of weird. Were they supposed to be kids? I don’t think it one of Kelly’s best performances. It wasn’t any better than her Jitterbug a few weeks ago, which the judges slammed. Well, she’s got a low score for the round, comparatively speaking. Len says, “Kelly you have been an absolute revelation to me…you’ve come in week after week stronger and stronger.” Bruno says, “What an achievement…go for it even more.” Carrie Ann says, “Definitely one of your best performances…a few little missteps.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 26 – VIDEO
Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson – 80s Paso Doble – Donny dressed as Adam Ant, is just…sad. I mean seriously, what the hell was that? It wasn’t very good. ad. Len says, “The most scary bizarre Paso I’ve ever seen, but I liked it.” Bruno says, “That had more camp in it than a drag queen convention…” Carrie Ann says, “I though it was hysterical…but it was a little odd for me…I couldn’t see all of your lines.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len – 8 Bruno – 8 – 24 – VIDEO

Will there be a dance off this time?
Well I ran out of time to vote for Donny. Can’t wait to see the results tomorrow.
Love Dimitry, but Mya leaves me cold. There is just something not very likeable about her even though she is technically very strong. It really doesn’t matter what Aaron does, I just don’t care for him. Again, technically he seems to be very good. Derek always gets more out of his partners than they even expect of themselves. I think they were very underrated by the judges the first dance. Kelly just simply isn’t that good. Donny is my favorite personality. I love his energy and he is a darn good dancer. I am still voting for Donny and Derek and their partners even though Mya and Aaron might be better. Personality enters into it too when it is a competition for votes. Kelly really should go this week in my opinion.
By the way, thanks so much for the videos.
I’m hoping Donny makes it. And “no, I was not a teeny bopper fan of his!” lol
Mya was amazing in both dances tonight. She is kind of pro so it is starting to look a little bit like cheating. I want her in the finale and I don’t care if she wins but, in my opinion, she needs to be there. And Mya is simply smoldering on the dance floor, so I’m at loss to explain the “left me cold” comments that I’m reading. Perhaps this frigidness lies in the heart of the beholder.
Kelly was totally over rated on her second dance. I think Louis and her have great chemistry but when her feet need to move really fast the cracks show badly.
Donnie is starting to look old and tired. His “hitting the wall” back story on the first dance and those baggy silver pants didn’t do his body any favors on the second. YIKES! He still should be in the finale (and obviously will) but unless he picks it up quite a bit from what he put out there tonight he really should NOT win.
Kelly should go but, based on the judges comments/scores, it will likely be Kroupa or Aaron instead.
I think Donny has a great sense of humor!!! He is so awesome.
I love Kym too. They are a great couple.
Mya really should win. Her second dance was my favorite. It shouldn’t really matter on the personality but Mya has plenty of it as she so cute and fun in her performances especially tonight. Donny is just too much silliness and I just rather have pure talent over silliness any day. So I hope Mya takes the win. I’m a little confused on the “cold” comments myself as she simply exudes so much through her dancing and performances which is where her personality comes through.
It’s funny how much personality enters into who likes which dancer. I can’t stand Mya or Aaron and wish both of them would just get off of my TV screen. I think the previous description of Mya being cold is spot on – she was good last night but frankly I could not remember what she danced this morning. I don’t feel any emotion from her at all when she dances – she just goes through the motions. Joanna’s futuristic dance was freakin’ amazing and I want to see that again. Thanks for the video link. Loved Donny’s waltz. I love how hard Kelly is working and how she has so much heart about being on the show but that second dance was weird with the doll. Aaron? Just plain ugh. Hopefully he goes tonight.
Aaron HAS to go! I cannot stand that kid and I’ve never particularly enjoyed Karina either.
Kelly isn’t as good a dancer, but she exudes joy and is a delight to watch. I also really enjoy Donny & Mya, although for different reasons.
I just really dont care anymore unless Donny wins, but he is sliding down hill, age is catching up with him maybe, not to knock age. Those 2 girls, I could care less about, Derek is the only reason Joanna is getting votes, he pushes her around the dancefloor. The only reason I slightly care about Mya is Dimitry. Kelly is cute and trying so hard, but she wont win. Aaron doesnt bother me, he isnt doing anything wrong that people should be hating on him, this turned out to be a bad season IMO.
I get zip personality from Mya- just nothing. She is good technically but that doesn’t count for me in choosing who to vote for.
I find Aaron to be very needy and delicate emotionally, plus manic in how he moves.
I always vote for who I like regardless of how they dance and this season it is Kelly- I just think she is adorable. Probably because I miss my daughter, but there it is.
As far as performances last night I would give the edge to Joanna- and as much as I don’t like her I would give her the overall win as as well. Loved the future Paso- their synchronicity was excellent. I enjoyed Donny’s 80’s Paso as well- loved Adam Ant then and thought it was fun.
I would send Aaron home purely because I find his personality to be grating and he is going to cry any moment now.
DNW.
My two favorites, Donny & Kelly, were also my favorite dances. I loved Donny’s first dance and the 2nd one made me laugh. Kelly is much improved and so light on her feet these days. Mya is good but I will never root for her because I think she’s a pro. Joanna was stiff in one of her dances. I like Derek and think he’s a wonderful choreographer but I never enjoy her dancing. Aaron needs to go imo. He may be a decent enough dancer but he’s too frenetic and I just don’t like his personality.
“”Perhaps this frigidness lies in the heart of the beholder. “”
I am with Bean – Mya is very cold to me but I am not a cold person?! If I was I certainly wouldnt find Donny entertaining – I think Aaron did so well last night along with Mya – he is so young and trying so hard that I do applaud him
Husband and I had to watch that Futuristic Paso twice on DVR while waiting for the commercials to get done – we both thought it was awesome and couldn’t see anything wrong with Joanna’s steps to make Carrie Anne give her a 9. Derek’s choreography was just amazing!
I didn’t vote at all because I’m at the point where I can’t make a decision. If I could, I would choose NOT MYA (like that auto AI vote) – put me on the “leaves me cold” side. Joanna doesn’t have much personality either, but I like how she is up for whatever Derek has her do. Donny has grown on me much more than Marie did, so I hope he makes it at least to second…
If Aaron hadn’t whined about never winning anything, I might have been tempted to vote for him, but whiners loose me. And Kelly has started to be a bit whiny, too, so as much as I love her… might be time for her to go.
Mya kicked ass!! I agree she should win but she probably won’t.
Carrie Anne was just being a Queen B last night. She was scoring even lower than Len for most of the night.
Kelly is–and it’s why she’s still in the competition–every person’s little girl. She has no dancing experience and it shows, but she still has given some good performances. We identify and we’re all so proud of her, aren’t we? ANd her popularity as Mummy and Daddy Osborne’s little girl have helped her too. In truth, her ballroom dances are good, her latin, not so much. She should have gone home last week. Mya’s problem is that she’s too good and the choreography is generally not exciting enough. We always know she’s going to deliver, but Dimitri isn’t the choreographer that, for instance, Derek and Mark Ballas (or Lacey) are. Joanne is stunning and darn if she can’t dance. That, and Derek’s choreography makes me want to see her in the finals. Aaron dances exceptionally well 50 percent of the time. His jive was great, his samba was great, but ballroom isn’t his thing. i hope he doesn’t go home tonight, but he just might. The person who is the most fun, with the best personality, and can dance, though maybe not the as well as others, is who wins DWTS as a general rule. That’s DOnny. But anything can happen. Witness last season when the winner was decided on the freestyle alone.
I agree with everything you said Lulu – Mya is better than the others, she is a pro, so it is just not exciting to watch her, to see if she gets better each week. She already is better and was from the beginning. I like to watch the ones that get better and better and try so darn hard. It is rewarding to see them grow right before our eyes, to see the excitement in their eyes, to know that they can do it. She should be someone we could vote on each week to be one of the pros next year, see if she could do that and it would be more exciting to watch her then. Compete against “someone her own size”
I agree Mya should win but I want Kelly to stick around for another week or two. She’s my sentimental favorite because of her dad and my all time fave reality show, The Osbournes. Plus she had a very good ballroom performance last night even if I wasn’t wild about her second dance.
I’d like to see Joanna go. I consider her the ice princess and it looks to me like Derek is carrying her and making her look better than she actually is. Aaron seems like a needy little boy but he can dance well enough that he should be allowed to stick around until next week.
I will be voting for Mya and Dimitri come finale. I hope Dimitri gets extra help for his freestyle choreography. Freestyle is key. It’s the only reason Gilles lost the contest last year IMO. I do not want to see Donny Osmond take it from Mya since he’s good but not a fantastic dancer. That would be so gross. I actually think either Kelly or Donny should leave this week. Neither one has grown during the season. Whereas the other 3 have.
I have been voting for Mya and Dmitry from the first week. I adore the man! Talking about what some may perceive as “coldness” from Mya, I have a question. Are either Mya or Dmitry involved in a serious relationship?
Their dancing is fantastic and they deserve to win. However, there isn’t real sexual tension as we see with Derek and Joanna. Mya and Dmitry are both sexy, IMO. But their dances have been more classy than animalistic! (OK, I laughed when I wrote that.)
Honestly, this is (mostly) a bunch of D-listers trying to extend their 15 minutes of fame and competing for (gasp!) a MIRROR BALL TROPHY.
Therefore, when I vote for DWTS, I vote for who I like/enjoy watching, not who is the best. It’s not like Idol or SYTYCD, where placement tends to affect careers. Placement on DWTS is not going to affect the stars’ careers after the show is over.
Who is the worst dancer left? Kelly, obviously. But I find her very personable and likable, and it wouldn’t bother me if she sticks around over, say, douchebag Aaron.
