Dancing With The Stars - Top 7 - Performance - VIDEO

Tonight’s Top score was 27 by Lance and Lacey who totally made a comeback after last week’s highly-criticized West coast swing. Lacey listened to the judges criticisms, and choreographed a dance that allowed Lance to shine, and that he did. These two are so fun to watch. If they keep it up, they both could go deep. The lowest score, 15, went to Cloris and Corky. Will Cloris’s fanbase be able to pull her through this week? I don’t know. Brooke and Derrek did not deserve the second highest score of 26 this week. Len substitute Michael Flately gave her a 10! WTF? Injury or no, she was off her game. Dancing better, were Maurice and Cheryl, who only got 7’s across the board for their lovely and underrated Viennese Waltz.

My not-so-confident prediction. Cloris and Corky and Maurice and Cheryl will be bottom 2, with Maurice and Cheryl going home.

Guest judge Michael Flatley performs during tomorrow’s elimination episode.

*****

Tonight the surprises keep on coming with the seasons first guest judge…and a group hip-hop number!

While Len takes a few days off, Michael Flatley the Lord of the Dance! fills in to judge.

Live blog and videos after the JUMP…

Maurice and Cheryl - Viennese Waltz - Maurice’s mind is on overload! He has to remember all those steps. And he does. Their dance is very smooth and elegant. The judges remarks were mixed, however. Carrie Ann - 7, Michael - 7, Bruno - 7 - 21 - 1-800-868-3404.

Lance and Lacey - The Jive - They rehearse at the Florida studio where Nsync used to dance, and Lance has terrible flashbacks! He was the worst dancer in the group. His bandmate, and ex-DWTS contestant, Joey comes to visit. Lance and Lacey are on fire! This dance put a smile on my face. So much fun. Lance and Lacey are back! So say the judges. Carrie Ann acts like Len is dead. Tee Hee! Carrie Ann - 9 Michael - 9 Bruno - 9 - 27 - 1-800-868-3407

Susan and Tony - The Mambo - Last week Susan danced through an injury. Susan, who dances cautiously, wants to break out of the box. Tony takes her to a mambo club, hoping to release her “wild side”. Eh, she’s still holding back. This performance is pretty boring-neither sexy or wild. The judges think she’s breaking out of her box…but her timing is off, says Bruno. Michael can’t seem to bring himself to say anything mean. Carrie Ann - 8, Michael - 8, Bruno - 7 - 23 - 1-800-868-3411.

Brooke and Derek - The Rumba - Brooke’s foot didn’t feel right when she left the stage after last week’s jitterbug. Brooke got some therapy at home, while Derek worked on the choreography in the studio. Brooke is dancing very carefully… She’s definitely not at her best. Carrie Ann and Bruno agree. Michael continues to pull his punches. Eh, Brooke will get pity votes. Carrie Ann - 8 Michael - 10, Bruno - 8 - 26 - WTF? - 1-800-868-3405

Cloris and Corky - The Cha Cha - Corky can’t believe they weren’t in the bottom 2 last week. NO! He says Cloris is a cranky old woman. Cloris’s ex-husband intervenes! Alrighty. OMG Cloris really sucks. I’m not convinced she’d be any good if she were younger. That attempt at a lift was totally Lolz. Holy crap. Carrie Ann blames Cloris for Toni’s elimination…good stuff! Carrie Ann - 5, Michael Flatley - 5, Bruno - 5 - 15 - I think the judges have had it with her. 1-800-868-3408

Cody and Julianne - The Samba - Julianne talks about the stomach problems that landed her in the hospital last week. Cody attempts to transform into a sexy samba dancer. Time for a spray tan! I find Cody’s dancing ungainly, and this week is no exception. He looks like a giant dork on the dance floor - Carrie Ann likey…Bruno not so much. Michael finally criticizes. A little. Backstage Julianne tells the audience that she’s going into surgery tomorrow to have her appendix removed. Edyta will be stepping in while Julianne is out. Carrie Ann - 8, Michael - 8, Bruno - 7 - 23 - 1-800-868-3401

Warren and Kym - The Rumba - They fear Brooke and Derek. Little do they know…they have nothing to worry about. Very nice. Not my favorite from them, however. Carrie Ann says Warren’s more emotional than Emmett Smith. Both the judges call him out on his mistakes. It costs him points. Carrie Ann - 8, Michael - 9, Bruno - 25 - The scores are still pretty high, despite mistakes. 1-800-868-3413

Group Hip Hop! This should be hilarious - And it is. Susan is completely lost. Cloris is beyond…words. It’s the DWTS version of the pointy pose. Awesome!

I’m pretty nervous to see Cloris hip-hopping.

LOL KK, me too. And Susan too, for that matter.

LOVED L&L’s Jive! That was so cute!! :)

Brooke didn’t deserve the high scores this week

  4. 4 Sarah Oct 27th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

I didn’t like Cody as much this week as I have been, but I still like them as a couple and think they deserve to advance over both Susan and Cloris.

Brooke was pretty good, but yeah, a bit tentative. Warren was really good.

L&L were definitely my faves of the night. :)

That hip hop is indescribable. I just don’t know what to say. LOL.

Cloris needs to go. For real.

I wonder if Cloris’s scores are low enough to get rid of her this week. Sigh.

What’s kind of bugging me is that nobody is as good as the really good couples from previous seasons. Everybody seems to stop and glance over at the pro to find out what to do next at least once or twice a dance. Some of them are worse than others (Susan, I’m looking at you) but they ALL do it at least a little. Brooke is the best, and even she kind of stops and looks at Derek and then is half a beat behind him.

I want Drew and Apollo back — they are the only men I can think of who really seemed to LEAD — and Mel and Stacy, who could do their part without being just pushed into it or half-assing some part of it. I’m not counting Kristi, since she was the ringerest ringer of all ringers. No big deal, but I expected her to be an awesome dancer and it wasn’t like the others who kind of had to learn everything from scratch.

I also don’t believe that Brooke has never had dance training. She points her feet, she has balance and the right lines, and there is just no way even a good athlete could be that good at dancing without a background in gymnastics, yoga, pilates and a whole lot more. Sorry, Brooke. Just not buying it.

Lance and Lacey were amazing. I was sooooooo happy to see Joey and Chris. I wish JC had been there too. Lance was in Orlando to attend Chris’ charity event and to take Lacey to the Disney parks.

Brook’s high score was not deserved, IMO.

Poor Cloris. IMO, it was mean of Carrie Ann to make that comment about Toni being gone as a dig at Cloris. Cloris seemed resigned to be going home tomorrow. Goodbye Susan or Maurice.

I think that Cloris did well this week (for Cloris). She looked like she was actually trying and not just for laughs.

I love the group dance. Susan doesn’t seem to have any natural rhythm, Cloris was funny and the rest of them were just great. :)

  9. 9 GwendolynD Oct 27th, 2008 at 11:07 pm

I thought Brooke wasn’t all that great. Michael Flatley looked like an idiot with his over the top praise….

  10. 10 sabby_rina Oct 27th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

Oh man that hip hop number was sooo funny. I was cracking up so hard watching the contestants dance all hip hop. *shakes head* lol

But I gotta say, Lacey and Derek totally worked it!

  11. 11 abbysee Oct 27th, 2008 at 11:40 pm

The only true highlight this week was Lance and Lacey. I know I am a one note with this, but I adore Lance. He can flat out dance, he’s sexy and cute, and Lacey dances her ass off. Tonight they were the best by miles.

My other crush was a little off his game, Warren is always game, but tonight he wasn’t that good.

Susan’s ballroom was okay, she works hard, but she really doesn’t have natural rhythm, the hip hop showed that glaringly so.

Maurice is just a bit off for me. Everyone else pretty much bored the crap out of me.

Last week I forgot to vote this week is another conumdrum, does Carrie Ann’s bash of Cloris mobilized her fanbase? Why not just give her 2’s so that her fanbase is useless? Is that fair? I mean she sucks at dancing, but they are the one’s who got us into this mess. She is entertaining in ways that Susan sorry to say is not. She knocked off better dancers, she’s become almost Sanjaya like. Oh well, who is gone this week? I guess Susan and Maurice are at risk.

ETA: That sorry ass band and singers owe Beyonce, John Mayer, and Jordin Sparks apologies as they flayed and butchered their songs. The only bright spot in that equation is that it shows just how good they are in comparison. I mean dayum!

Cloris needs to go. For real.

    For real.

  14. 14 Sarah Oct 28th, 2008 at 12:14 am

Oh just one more thing, as I too sound one-note about Lance, I’m sure. :)

I really liked Lacey’s choreography this week… it incorporated a lot of different stuff, and yeah, gave Lance a chance to shine. Plus, I loved how she put in a tiny “Schwimmer Slide” to let Lance redeem himself from last week’s fall. :) Plus, I don’t think we saw her do the Jive on SYTYCD, so I wasn’t sure what she’d do with it, and I liked it! Like MJ said, the dance just made me smile. They’re just fun and cute. And that energy and enthusiasm is just infectious. :)

I liked Maurice this week, a lot more than the judges scored him. I definitely didn’t think Susan was better than him, nor did I think she was as good as Cody. As abbysee said, she just has no natural rhythm and the mambo, followed by the hiphop just really emphasized that. Her hip-shakes were pitiful.

Both Rumbas lacked a bit of the sizzle and sexiness and connection that Rumbas are supposed to have, but both were passable, Warren’s a little bit better than Brooke’s.

Susan and Cloris have given it their all, I guess, but IMO it’s just time for them to go. I hope Maurice and/or Cody don’t go home before them. So, I voted for Lance, Maurice, and Cody tonight (I figured Warren would probably be safe because he’s got peeps, lol.).

    First Half:

Best tonite were Lance & Lacey!! Yeah!

2nd - Cody & Julianne (his personality has really grown on me and I think he’s the most charasmatic on that dance floor)

    3rd - Warren & Kym

Worst Dance was performed by Brooke & Derek (she was so stiff)

Till the 2nd half; peace out and Poke Smot! :smoke_tb:

(p.s. nice smiley you got here MJ)

  16. 16 PokeSmot Oct 28th, 2008 at 12:30 am

    POINTY POSE WAS SIC, Y’ALL!!

(almost as entertaining as AI7’s Top 10 PP Dance).

    Hasta Manana,

Peace Out & POKE SMOT! :smoke_tb:

I also enjoyed Lance and Lacey’s performance. What fun! They also did a great job on the Hip Hop routine. Poor Susan was a bit lost. There is such good chemistry between Cody and Julianne - she will be missed! I have watched this performance 3 times and find new things each time. I thought it was very good.

By not really participating in the Hip Hop dance and receiving low scores, I think this is an indication that Cloris time to leave has finally arrived. I will say that she is physically fit, has great legs, and has promoted dancing as exercise for the elderly. May I look and do as well when I am 82 years old.

    i totally agree abbysee

as for the judges blaming cloris (why did they score her as high as they did then last cpl of weeks)… please its not her fault that toni’s fan base was smaller… Putting an 82 year old like cloris int his competition… did they expect people to not like her and vote her out early? cloris is a freakin hoot lol
should she still be in the competition if it was truly based on dancing NO… but this like all the other reality shows now really have less to do with “talent” and more to do with ” popularity” and cloris has the senior vote and the mid seniors :)

i so don’t know whose gonna go but i want Susan Lucci gone shes so boring… at least cloris brings some comedy lol

*does the two step over to fun office pools* ……>>>…>>>

I missed the show but watched the videos here - IMO Susan needs to go NOW. She is stiff and is off beat and doesn’t look like she is having fun at all. Cloris is horrible but at least she is entertaining. They both need to go before the better dancers. I applaud Cloris at her age for doing what she has but I would not vote for her - she has lasted past her time. I don’t agree with the judges blaming her for Toni going.

Lance and Lacy were freaking fantastic!!!!

  20. 20 t2 Oct 28th, 2008 at 7:48 am

I’m not counting Kristi, since she was the ringerest ringer of all ringers.

    Yeeshh…no kidding smartcookie

I thought that Bruno and Carrie Ann were trying to downplay Brooke this week so she doesn’t look like the continual frontrunner. Thought she sizzled up the stage (which is the whole point of that dance.) If any other of the “stars” had performed that dance like that, they would have given them tens. I do think that Derek brought the choreography down a notch to adapt for Brooke’s foot.

Anyone else have the answer to this question — why does Warren Sapp get to go last (or close) every week?

    Lance and Lacey were fantastic.

p.s. I HATED the fact that they made them do a hip hop routine. NOT ballroom by any stretch AND they might have well just said that Lance — pull out all of your old N’Sync moves, we are giving you a buy this week.

  21. 21 Bobbi Oct 28th, 2008 at 10:21 am

Cha cha to Motown? Really? I’m just as anxious as most to see Cloris go home but the music selections are just ridiculous sometimes! It was nice that someone finally recognized what Corky has done with her this season.

Lance and Lacey were fantastic. i thought Maurice and Cheryl did a better job than they were credited with and Warren disappointed me for the first time.

I would have loved to have heard Len’s comments on some of these dances!

  22. 22 Allison Oct 28th, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Even though Cloris cannot dance, she is fun to watch. Susan Lucci is not fun at all! In fact I really think this season is one of the worst. NO one is all that great, and there is no real rivalry, except perhaps between Derek and Julianne. And now that is in jeopardy. Kristi Yamaguchi may have been a ringer, but boy did I enjoy watching her dance.

  23. 23 Sarah Oct 28th, 2008 at 6:25 pm

they might have well just said that Lance — pull out all of your old N’Sync moves, we are giving you a buy this week.

How is that giving him a bye? He was not judged on that dance and really did not get a lot of focus IN the dance. He got some, but not more than Susan or Maurice (who always seemed to have the camera on them lol), and probably about equal to Cody, Brooke, and Warren.

Bobbi - I agree that the music is just screwy sometimes. Lance and Lacey got a Rihanna song two weeks in a row - to dance a Tango and then a West Coast Swing to. Uh, what? And the Rolling Stones for their Cha Cha. And that’s only the beginning. The music has been really weird this season for most of the dancers.

Anyway, I thought Brooke was fine - just like she’s been every week. Fine. I would agree that she has the natural grace of a dancer, but at times, she has not finished her movements (particularly in her arms) which can make part of the dances sometimes look sloppy, and can sometimes just be boring (lack of connection, perhaps?). This week, she was tentative, I’m sure because of the foot injury and less practice time, but even excepting that, IMO, the dance just wasn’t that great.

As much as excellent dancing, I like to see charisma on the stage, which I guess is why I like Lance and Warren, and to a lesser extent, Cody and Maurice, so much.

No one this year is a really excellent dancer or has even progressed so far to the levels of Emmitt, Apolo, Jennie Garth, Mel B, Joey Fatone, etc, imo.
