  • AmandaRae2512:

Two people I know actually say that they don’t think Shawn is very graceful on the dance floor. I don’t see that at all. She’s not tall therefore taking away the instant look of elegance that say Melissa possesses. However, the judges are right, her technique is almost always spot on. And tonight she showed the flair that she may have been missing in previous weeks, save for the Cha Cha Cha, which was stunning!

  • ShariG:

Gilles is meant to dance to a song called Sexual Healing. OMG. He is so hot.

  • AmandaRae2512:

Eh. Gilles is overrated. Glad they called him on his self-indulgence. I think he was getting a bit show offy there, and not in a good way. I will puke if Gilles, the ANOINTED and PIMPED one wins. Either Melissa or Shawn should win.

  • ShariG:

Melissa did a great job, not sure if it was worth three 10s, but she is doing great. I think she has a definite advantage over Shawn and Lil Kim because of her height when so much depends on extention. Gilles is still my favorite and I don’t think he is overratged. He has been doing a great job. Really Shawn, Lil Kim, Melissa, and Gilles all four belong right where they are in the competition.

  • sweetie99v:

Actually, Melissa is the pimped one. I will puke if Melissa wins. So she got dumped on the Bachelor. What do you expect will happen if you go on national TV ( a reality show) to find a husband….

Gilles for the win!! He’s the best dancer. My second fav. is Lil Kim and then Shawn is my 3rd favorite. Hopefully Lil Kim can bump Melissa off next week.

  • ShariG:

I’m with you. I would llke to see a final between Gilles and Lil Kim. I also think Cheryl Burke and Derek Hough are the best choreographers.

  • duncan:

Melissa is a great dancer. I hope she wins.

  • AInoob:

I cannot stand Cheryl Burke, something about her gets on my nerves so I just can’t pull for her to win yet again. I do like Gilles though, he has natural talent. Ty may be a nice guy but he needs to get off of my tv already. With him gone, I think any of the remaining four are good enough to win.

  • bean99:

I don’t like Lil Kim at all even though I like Derek. I wouldn’t mind a f3 with Melissa, Gilles, and Shawn. My favorite is Melissa. I really think she’s genuine and is a good dancer to boot. I do enjoy Gilles’ dancing and there are times I prefer him like in the first dance but didn’t like the 2nd one at all. I was so impressed with Melissa’s 2nd dance and agree with the perfect score.

I wouldn’t really have a problem with either Melissa or Gilles winning but will probably vote for Melissa. This week Ty needs to leave. He’s a nice guy but not a good dancer.

  • SpenserJ:

My favorite is Melissa. I really think sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s genuine and is a good dancer to boot.

Me too. She’s a fabulous dancer (in the context of this show), and I really love watching her. For me of course, my excessive Tony love does tend to color things LOL. I want Tony to finally win! Although, historically with this show, getting past a hot sexy man who can dance to win the mirro ball trophy is no easy task.

I think Gilles and Shawn are both really good as well, and super fun to watch. I do like Lil Kim and I think she’s done really well in this competition. But, I can’t stand Derek and all of the velveeta that oozes off of him, so I can’t root for them.

This week Ty needs to leave. Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a nice guy but not a good dancer.

I agree with this. He’s had a good run, and I admire how hard he’s worked. But, his time is up.

  • abbysee:

Can’t fault Melissa for being long and lean. I mean she’s competing against an Olympian!

I like Lil Kim, but on dances where the booty isn’t showcased she doesn’t shine quite so bright. Therefore I just can’t see her making it across the finish line. Also she and Gilles suffered from something being in their wheelhouse, and then they underperformed. Gilles’ Rumba and Kim’s Salsa should have been the highlight, yet they both stumbled, not literally, but they didn’t knock it out of the park.

I want Gilles and Melissa in the final, but it will probably be Gilles and Shawn, and you know how that is gonna go.

  • primetimemom:

I’m sorry to say this but Lil Kim and Shawn look like trolls on the dance floor. They are too short and stout (especially Shawn) to look graceful IMO. Melissa is a beautiful dancer but she has trained as a dancer all her life so I think that gives her a big advantage. Gilles has my vote for now.

  • pj:

I’m having a hard time maintaining interest in the show. I missed the first half b/c I went out to dinner. Can’t wait for Idol tomorrow.

  • sweetie99v:

I also think Cheryl Burke and Derek Hough are the best choreographers.

I agree. They are definitely the best choreographers. I think pairing Cheryl with Gilles and Lil Kim with Derek were brilliant movies. Actually, all of the pairings were done well this year.

  • Grammie Kari:

I picked Gilles for the win right from the start. He is the best dancer! However, I think Melissa is the sentimental favorite, especially by the judges. Her dance background gives her an advantage, more so than Shawn’s training.

Regarding Gilles and Cheryl’s Rumba, I also found his solo a bit too much. This is a gorgeous guy, he didn’t need to moonwalk. This is the only criticism I have had all season long.

I think the finale will be Gilles and Melissa (if her health holds out). The deciding factor may actually be their professional partners. Cheryl has two wins; Tony has none. A few of his former partners didn’t even get him close.

This should be an exciting finale!

  • bean99:

I don’t think Melissa has an unfair advantage by having a ballet background. If you look back at previous winners being an athlete seems to help you more whether it be from the work ethic, determination, or the fanbase. I don’t think she came in as well known as some of the others so thought that might hurt but I guess being dumped on national tv helped, lol. I also don’t think she’s all that tall, it’s just the other 2 are very short.

  • hypertwink:

I fractured an elbow years ago and I couldn’t even think without hurting, and they expect me to believe that this woman has 3 fractured ribs and she’s dancing the way she does. Please. I’ll readily believe that Tom Cruise is 6 foot tall and straight more before I believe her.

  • Grammie Kari:

bean, Yes, she had several years of ballet lessons, but more important Melissa is a former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader. She’s had experience with choreography, musicality, and dancing in front of a crowd. The try-outs are so intense with hundreds competiting for a position on the team.

Being a professional cheerleader certainly helped Paula Abdul with her future career choices. Paula has appeared on SYTYCD. There are many advantages, but who else could they get on 48 hours notice? Melissa seems like a geniunely nice person.

hypertwink, I’m with you on this! I broke two ribs in January and they still hurt, especially when I am chasing after a 2 year-old or carrying a young baby. I honestly think she bruised her ribs which can also be painful. When she was jumping up and down in joy, I thought, “There’s no way she has fractured ribs.”

Having brought these matters up here, Melissa adds drama and she is a beautiful dancer.

  • sillypraguer:

Only watched a couple of dances so far, gotta say Melissa’s “angel” dress is ridiculous. Totally distracted me that she had Edyta’s legwarmers on her arms.

  • carolinacharms:

Had my first “ewww” moment with Gilles tonight. There’s always a first! Still can’t get into Jewel’s hubby, but I am always diggin’ Lil’ Kim! Shake it like a polaroid picture!

  • sillypraguer:

Shawn did great this week — I think these might be her best performances, though. She just happened to get 2 dances that really suit her sharp movements. I’m betting she struggles more next week. Lil’ Kim was off her game a bit, but will possibly improve next week? I could totally see a final three of Gilles, Melissa and Lil’ Kim. We’ll see, we’ll see. I don’t know if Melissa can outdo her Argentine Tango performance, but I can hope …

  • mandabutter:

Haven’t really enjoyed this season of DWTS, I don’t know. Something is just lacking in each of the celebs. My fave has been Lil Kim. I think she has shown the most improvement. Love her personality!!

Shawn Johnson is too cute. I think her Olympic technique and sharp movements hold her back really…She has no flair. I know she’s really shy, maybe if she ahd a different partner. Mark creeps me out.

  • Grammie Kari:

I loved the professionals showing us what the dances should include. Another two chances to see Dmitry dancing with Kim!

Shawn and Mark’s Paso Doble was her best dance to date. I agree, Mark is kinda of creepy.

  • hypertwink:

I think Melissa is the sentimental favorite, especially by the judges. Her dance background gives her an advantage, more so than Shawnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s training.

It also helps that you get dumped on national TV and people want you to win, even if it’s just some glitter ball.

  • I really like Melissa and am so happy for Tony that he has a partner that even gives him a chance at the finals. He’s really had some daunting partners and has always been fantastic with them. I would love it if they could win.

About her injury – they did say it was a hairline non-displaced fracture. So, it probably isn’t as severe or as painful as a truly broken rib.

  • hypertwink:

Please. As I said, I had a hairline fracture and it fucking hurt, every time I moved, even if it was just to move a few inches. She’s advertised to have three, and she’s dancing her ass off. Either she’s on some miracle drug that shuts out the pain without maklng her comatose or she’s lying her ass off about that injury.

  • Well, I’ve never fractured, broken or bruised my ribs, but I do know that everyone has a different pain threshold. Considering that they showed her xrays and consulting with a doctor, I doubt that she or the show is lying about her injury. Don’t know what her treatment is, but I’m glad she’s back and competing.

  • KrazeeK120:

Do we really have to kick someone off?? I like them all so much!! Although I will admit that Ty probably does not have the dance skills to continue in the competition. He’s super adorable though, and I’m not sad that he outlasted the ever-so-boring Chuck.

Honestly, I can’t stand Derek Hough, but I really like Lil Kim so I’m trying to give them a chance. Same goes with Gilles – I like him but I’m no fan of Cheryl, but I’m trying to give them a chance as well.

Melissa and Shawn are my favorites. Besides being likeable people, they are both really good dancers. I’d love to see the two of them in the finale. But I think the finale includes 3 so I’ll take Gilles, I guess.

I think I’m rooting for Melissa and Tony because I like Melissa…I think she’s just so fun to watch! Also…poor Tony hasn’t had a decent partner since S2, and even then, it was pretty clear no one was going to beat Drew and Cheryl. This is the first time he has a legitimate chance of winning, and the other 3 pros left have won before. Although…it IS just a big sparkly trophy so I guess it really isn’t that big of a deal in the long run.

  • bean99:

It sounds like the treatment was pain management and athletes do it all the time so why not a dancer, even a training one? I’ve sprained my ankle and bare could walk without agony yet football players get up and play right after.

I went to the dentist yesterday (speaking of pain, had a root canal) and happened to see a People with Melissa on the cover from last month. It’s here if you missed it. She talks about having no notice that she was going to be on the show and says her cheerleader training was so different from ballroom dancing. http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20271239,00.html

  • yep bean that part about athletes playing with injuries is very true. I remember when Terrell Owens was with the Eagles the year they went to the Super Bowl, at the end of the regular season, he broke his leg in the exact same place that I had about a month prior. But he worked, missed all of the playoffs and came back for the Super Bowl about 6 weeks later because be wanted to play in it. It took me like 3 or 4 months to completely heal. If Melissa’s doing what athletes do to treat and compete thru an injury (and dancers ARE athletes after all), to me it’s no surprise that she’s able to dance her ass off.

Anyway!! I’m kinda like pj in that I’ve lost some interest in this season. BUT, I’m with KK on my faves – Melissa and Shawn. I like Kim but Derek bugs me. I also like Gilles, but agree that he’s been overpimped, and IMO sometimes overscored. To me, it’s like Brooke Burke last year – excessive pimping and overscoring early on to likely make up for their smaller initial fanbases. For me, in both cases, it’s served to alienate me instead of making me want to vote for them. But Gilles is a good dancer. I wouldn’t say he’s better than Shawn, Melissa, or Kim. They’re all good and have all grown a lot too. If Ty does go tonight, this might be the best top 4 ever in terms of technical skill.

Also, I’m with spense in wanting Tony to finally win. I like him and he’s always been a great sport in past seasons when he’s gotten the older ladies like Jane Seymour and Susan Lucci, who didn’t have a chance against the younger ladies and hot men. So, I’m sorry, but HE’S a sentimental favorite of mine. :)

  • Miss Chaos:

If you want to talk about pain management, just ask Ty, you wouldn’t believe what the Bullriders work thru, and contnue to ride Bulls. They have an awsome on the scene Dr., he’s right there after the bull has crushed the rider on the face, chest, and says, can you get up and walk out, lol. I have even seen them get smacked in the face with a bull horn, and spit a tooth out, and be back on a bull the next nite. They are all really pulling for Ty, you cant believe how out of his comfort zone he has gone. No he cant win this, I just guess he cant wiggle his darn hips. But some of his other dances were really getting good. I wish he could stay one more week.
Go Melissa, I am pulling for you and because I really want Tony to be in the final, enough with the kids winning.

  • hypertwink:

I also like Gilles, but agree that heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been overpimped, and IMO sometimes overscored.

And what about Melissa? She’s so overpimped, even the girls from the next Bachelor are scared. LOL

  • janerazor:

I think they were trying to play up the hawt Ty angle (what with showing him in a robe and his comment after his rumba)…heh that was enjoyable (mr. janerazor teases me about my tv bullrider bf, lol), but I still don’t think it’s enough to save him this week.

I really didn’t like Bruno’s comment to Lil Kim about her being better as a “tramp.” I guess I know what he means, but the way he put it seemed really disrespectful.

Cheryl barking at Gilles in the prep vid about being “sexy” and “sensual” had me laughing. Yeah, Cheryl, yelling is the way to inspire sexiness. That said, I liked their foxtrot, but I would have preferred it to be more traditional. Same with the rumba.

Tony being so excited after their samba was adorable. I like Melissa just fine, but I pull for them moreso because I’m happy Tony finally got a viable dance partner.

Mark’s creepy and exaggerated facial expressions make Shawn look bland in comparison. I really don’t get why he insists on overdancing and thus drowning out his partners. If he could reign in his rubber face, Shawn would look much better.

  • AmandaRae2512:

I danced on a broken toe in high school for drill team tryouts. If you really want something, you find a way to work through the pain.

  • hcpoirot:

Cheryl had to be careful. Her few last choreography of the routines were too ambitious or just weird like the rumba. Thats why Giles and her score tumbles and they been third place and runner up this past few weeks.

But they still got time to pick it up. Cheryl had to remember not to over do the dances. No matter how good Giles is,he is not a pro. If she do like the early routines choreo, they will win this.

But if she still make too complicated routines and suffer the score from the judges, they will lost in the finale.

  • hcpoirot:

Mark and Shawn also had a chance to win. But Mark had to remember that he didnot partner with Kristi Y anymore. At times, his dance indeed over powered Shawn. He had to remember to dance in Shawn level and not at his level like he did with Kristi in season 6.

Tony and Melissa had chance to win too. But let hope his free style routine as not as bland in season 2 where he blew his chances with Stacy in finale with mediocre free style round.
