Looks like a fun evening, Danny always seems so comfortable singing live and engaging with audiences.
This was a fundraiser sponsored by a local country music station for their “Christmas Wish” charity. I understand the person who took these videos has another one that should be posted sometime in the next day or so, not sure what song.
Sounds like it was a really good time; I had to laugh at the WHTM video; you could hear the audience singing along louder than Danny was.
Danny sounds so good with just his couple of acoustical back up players.
I’m always amazed at how consistent he is in these live performances; he rarely ever misses a note, and always has good audience rapport.
Looks like he signed autos and took pics with fans too, from items surfacing. Lucky Raleigh fans!
I think that Danny did a good job in these performances at Raleigh. I think that his performance of “Tiny Life”, in Raleigh is the best performance, of that song he has given yet. And I like how he encourages the audience to sing along with him in his performance of “What Hurts The Most”. Danny interacts well with audiences.
It was truly a blast and he was soooo relaxed and comfortable with the audience. He was grinning ear to ear and even when the mike kept falling apart on him he kept right on singing and smiling. Sugestion for the future… DUCT TAPE.
After the show he took pictures and signed autographs. He was such a nice person. I will try to post the final video this evening.
I came hear to hear the beautiful ‘Tiny Life’ , but the audio was horrible. The audience noise was just too much. This video is much better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eQIggz92Hg
Sneezepaddle, that video is much better quality, although that was in Utah when Danny was sick, so not his best performance. Thanks for posting it!
I think Tiny Life is becoming one of my Danny favorites even more that the single (which is the best single since its so singable and danceable) since the lyrics are so beautiful (thank you Jeffrey Steele) and it gives Danny a chance to belt out the chorus. I do love it when Danny uses his big belting voice.
I love those KBULL videos also, both the performances they broadcast on air like Tiny Life, and their “Bull Pen” videos with Danny singing Back at One and WHTM to the station staff.
These new videos from City Limits are great also though, to see Danny out in more of a public setting. The crowd noise and singing along does compete a bit with his vocals, but it’s nice to know there was a good crowd there and they were into the performances even with just a more low-key acoustic format.
Really looking forward to seeing how these songs sound with a full band at some point soon.
Great songs but I’m also looking forward to hearing them fully produced.
I especially think Tiny Life will be really good.
Now, will we hear anything from the Mercy Charity Ball. This is pretty high profile – I really would like to know and see more about how this went.
I’m not sure if any video will leak out from the Mercy fundraiser, but there were some tweets about how well it went, and one with a pic. From a rep with Mercy:
kyle_e_weaver: Danny Gokey performing @ the Mercy Charity Ball in NW Arkansas! Thanks Danny. http://yfrog.com/1dtqhvj
Local Fox station also covered it with an article and video, where Danny is mentioned and appears briefly. That station also had some coverage leading up to the event, did seem they treat it like a big deal in that area.

Just watched the videos. Danny is such a great live performer – he really enjoyed interacting with the audience.
I really like all Danny’s new songs so far. Can’t wait to hear the studio version of Tiny Life. I suspect Danny’s second single will be a ballad since they went with an uptempo single first.
Danny moved up 20 spots on the country charts to #71 – would have been higher if not competing with Christmas music. His single goes for offficial adds on December 14th, a week before his single goes on sale on Itunes.
I’m glad that Danny is at #71 on the Country chart, especially considering he is competiting with a lot of Christmas songs, and that his song hasn’t officially gone for adds or is available for purchase yet. He’s gotten three adds so far, and I hope that he gets more. I look forward to seeing his single climb the Country Chart.
Just add the last video from Raleigh. Looks like it is a NEW SONG. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBrgumMcVCg
I’ve been told that Danny is going to be performing in or near Akron, OH on Thursday, 12/10, besides doing the radio tour.
These videos really show Danny’s personality…he seems relaxed and like he is having a good time. What a treat. Wish I had seen him there. Sounds like a great time for everyone! Thanks for posting.
I am really happy for Danny – he seems to be in his element. He is working with great people who are supporting him and he is playing the kind of music that he enjoys. Live performances are definitely his thing.
Okay, even though the sound quality is not so good, Danny sounds awesome on that last song. It’s got to be a cover, though, as it doesn’t sound country in the least bit. It’s hard to imagine that being on Danny’s album. But he sounds great!
Thanks for posting these vids from Raleigh! I was supposed to be there, so it makes me a little sad to watch. From all accounts, it seems like the show was a success!
I think that’s right about another upcoming date in Ohio. Country radio station WQMX has been promoting an upcoming appearance by Danny at their Country Night Out, hosted by a club called Legend’s.
The following week, Danny has another evening performance at Coyote Joe’s in Charlotte NC, on a joint billing with David Nail, Phil Vassar and Mallory Hope. Would love to go to that one, not sure I can make it work.
This was Danny’s set at the Raleigh bar according to someone who attended:
My Best Days
Tiny Life
Back to One
Its Only
WHTM
?????
I still Believe
My Best Days (encore)
The ??? must be that real R&B sounding song that conchcast posted above. Mystery song, esp with bar background noise; not sure if its a cover or original.
Not sure what the ??? song is, either. If it’s a cover, no one I know is recognizing it so far.
I like that R&B sounding song. Of course we don’t know if it’s on the album, but I think it would be great if Mark Bright incorporates that element of Danny’s voice on the album. It’s not outside the box in country music, per se. I remember a thread a few weeks ago where I was giving some examples of songs/artists where country/rock/soul seem to intersect, e.g. the Fabulous Thunderbirds. I’d love that from Danny. He seemed to be really getting into that song, didn’t he! (I guess the girl who screamed “I love you” at the end did too!). I am getting more and more excited about his album coming out, can’t wait to hear what they do. I think it is going to be really good.
I’m curious about this also. When Danny did that longer concert at the MSMC college anniversary, he did several R&B / Motown songs (and also did country songs plus a few from other genres). At the time, it surprised me a little as he was signed to a country label, but thought it was a transitional event.
Maybe not, as I Still Believe is very bluesy, and he’s also included Back at One (originally by Brian McKnight) in at least some of the country music radio stops. Now we’re seeing that both of those plus this new R&B-ish one were in his City Limits set along with the more typically country songs. Danny talked for a while before he was signed about exploring a path to do ‘modern soul country’. Maybe there is more soul in the plan than we’ve realized based on the first three songs that came to light.
Danny is headed to Pennsylvania, Wash. DC and Ohio on his radio tour this week. Appearances are listed at his myspace page.
His official web fan site goes up tomorrow, woot!
