Check out Danny Gokey promoting his hometown, Milwaukee for the
In the video, posted at the VISIT Milwaukee website, Danny describes Milwaukee as a family friendly city that represents all cultures. He says his favorite parts of Milwaukee are the east side with its restaurants and shops, the Latin feel of the south side and the lakefront.
Hey! Milwaukee is more than just beer, brats and cheese! Heh.

Good for Milwaukee.. I guess?
Thanks for posting mj. I enjoyed listening to Danny’s take on Milwaukee. I always got the impression that he really loves his city. I still don’t think I’ll be vacationing there, though. Well, I mean I’m in SC, so it would be quite a trip.
Very nice gesture by Danny…not a real good impromptu speaker (a pre-written script would have been helpful…same thoughts a little better articulation) but it came across as very heartfelt. But, since I can find the same stuff in Chicago I’d rather go there for my vacation.
I think that’s a great opportunity for Danny to get out there and promote his home town.
Good, truthful video. :bye_tb:
I went to Milwaukee for college (Marquette University, class of 1981), and everything he says is true. The people there are loyal and friendly, the scenery from the lakefront is beautiful, the ethic culture of the South Side is something to experience. And yes, there is a festival on the lakefront nearly every weekend during the summer.
I haven’t been back to Milwaukee in nearly 20 years, but after watching it, I’m a little homesick. :blush_tb:
That’s a nice clip, I’m sure he enjoyed doing that. It’s nice that the tour is going to Milwaukee, I bet he is really looking forward to that.
I ´ve been to Milwaukee and I like it. In fact I like most of the cities by Lake Michigan, but I would have never been attracted to it just by listening to Danny ´s flat boring speech. It was dull.
Well, it’s not really a sexy video is it? Definitely Danny is reading off a teleprompter so it is a scripted speech.
One thing I do like about Idol is learning about the different places the contestants come from. I never really knew much about Milwaukee before.
I’m always happy to hear about Danny but would prefer to hear about his singing which I love.
Thanks to some of you for being “kind” to Danny. I love Danny’s singing, and I thought he did very well with this video too (very heartfelt) ~ I didn’t think it was “boring” at all. No, he’s not Adam ~ and no, he’s not Kris ~ he’s Danny ~ who has endured lots of grief, not just from losing his wife, but because so many wanted their “favorite” to win that they “put down” the favorite of many other people simply because he was a threat! So what if Danny’s not “as” articulate as some of the other contestants ~ and so what if he is a “Christian” (this country was founded on Christianity, remember?). I love Danny, and I love Kris (who did WIN, by the way), and I love the others too ~ they all brought something different to Idol, which made it fun to watch. I have my own Idol who I support, and he’s not from this Season, but there’s always room in my heart for a few more. I’m glad Kris won, and I wish he and his wife Katy well ~ as I do all the other Idols.
Hey great job Danny. Mil looks like great city.
Great seeing an Idol promoting the city they live in. I am glad to know about other cities as I myself come from outside the US. I can’t say I recall anyone else promoting the city like this. The closest I think is Phil Stacey, who spoke highly of Jacksonville, Fla., and Wichita, KS, as he lived in both cities. But yes, I do believe that what Danny has to say is heartfelt, as it is when he talks about other things dear to him, whether he can put it well or not. I love listening to him talk and sing both. Now I have to try and make it to Milwaukee some time, lol.
I live near Milwaukee & yes it is more than just beer, brats and cheese. We do have a festival at the lakefront nearly every weekend: Polish Fest, German Fest, Festa Italiana, Indian Summer Fest, Pride Fest & of course Summerfest to name a few. And guess what people do there, besides listen to music, of course? Yes, it’s all about the beer, brats and cheese, with a huge emphasis on the beer. So maybe that is what it’s all about.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to the Idol tour stop in August. The concerts are a lot of fun & it will be cool to see Danny’s homecoming.
Thanks for posting the video. I think Danny did a great job and seems like he really loves Milwaukee. I’m sure Danny will get an extremely warm welcome when the tour goes to Wisconsin. Hope there is a sell out crowd.
