omg, how did I miss that? I live quite near there (Jordan’s Furniture) and I go to the grocery store almost across the street from it, all the time. I would have gone, for sure.

Jordan’s Furniture is not just a furniture store, btw. It’s a crazy place where they have an indoor “trapeze school” for people who want to try it, they have a town made of Jelly beans, an IMAX theatre, and other amusements. So it’s actually very busy and crowded, very family oriented, and a good place to play to an audience.

Was able to attend the Opry last night when Danny performed at both concerts. All the performers did well, and Danny sounded great.

I took a few pics at the performance and earlier signing that Danny did at the Opry shop.

(mj, you’re welcome to use any of those if you want an Opry photo for this thread)

For the signing, as usual Danny was sweet as could be and stayed for the full line to sign and take pics even after the Opry peeps were trying to close it down. He also was very very kind to a young disabled girl who was there, she and her companion were absolutely elated. It was a little difficult to tell with the layout, but I’d guess there were 200 people at the signing event, and good audiences for both of the Opry concerts.
Danny was clearly very popular, would say he had the warmest and certainly loudest reception of any of the younger artists this time (maybe of all of them). One of the hosts commented about the number of people who’d crept up to the stage before Danny was due to come on the first time, and how they usually don’t see such a crowd up that close by the stage except with a “hot” act. David Nail and Steel Magnolia also both performed, along with Marty Stuart, Joe Diffie, and various of the older generation stars. Fun evening.

steph, I really like that look for Danny, all in black except the white vest. Very sharp.

My husband and I were on the road yesterday so I missed the first performance at the Opry but caught the second one. He sounded more relaxed when he was speaking this time, I thought. I guess he is getting used to it now. My husband finally got to listen to Danny’s whole album on the way here (he will not sit still long enough to listen to a whole album unless he is trapped in the car, lol). He LOVED it, he said it was unbelievable how many really good songs were on it, and I guess the true test is that he wanted to listen to it again when we got here. He also listened to Opry with me, although he doesn’t generally like country music and was complaining about Steel Magnolia last night but he stuck it out! ;) Neither of us minds listening to the oldsters, we think they’re sweet. Steph, I’m glad you got to go, I bet it was a lot of fun to be there.

Steph and Josie, thanks for sharing, :-) . I live vicariously through you all who are able to see Danny in person. Yes, I heard what the one host said about people rushing the stage, and I could hear the cheers. He sounded awesome, too.

  • JosieX:

CFIdolsfan, I haven’t seen him in person yet either, you’re not alone. I hope to later this year, somewhere or another.

Did you watch that TrueCountry video? That reporter is funny with her fangirling, he seemed amused. He does look really cute there though. That was right after his CRS performance.

  • JosieX:

To clarify, when I said I caught his second performance, I meant on the radio. I think it’s WSN that broadcasts it every week.

Mmm, yes. Based on my objective analysis after seeing Danny in that outfit at the Opry shop signing and then the two performances Saturday night, I must agree ;)

  • Indigobunting:

Thanks for the report and all the pics, Steph. I also saw a person who signed up at DGO site just to thank Danny for how nice he was to her and her husband , who were volunteering for St Judes.

Its really impressive that even with his wild, crazy schedule this past 2 weeks with his album just coming out, he still found time to do two big charity events; the Jeffrey STeele event and this St. Judes.

I agree about the white vest/dark coat look <3 He keeps getting hotter.

  • iluvai:

Danny is cute. I think his heart is in the right place.

  • PJG:

Danny looks so frickin hot in that interview, especially when he sang at the end, WHew.

I love Danny Gokey! I must admit that while on Idol I was a bigger fan of Adam (still am) and didn’t quite warm up to Danny. Since he has left that Idol bubble I find myself really loving this man. His voice fits country music so well! I hate it when I see others put him down and saying nasty things like he is only singing Country because noone else wanted him. Are they for real???? Anyone would be so thrilled to have this amazing man!!! I think it is “smart” of RCA Nashville to sign him! Do they know how lucky they are to have such a fantastic artist? I pre-ordered his CD and I am so impressed with it that I have given atleast 50 more as gifts for family and friends. Danny I am sorry I didn’t appreciate you on Idol but I sure am happy I appreciate you now!!! Your voice is like a gift from Heaven and never stop talking about your beautiful wife, if others don’t like it well they can stuff it!!!
