David Archuleta and David Cook Tape the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade

There have been sightings of both David Cook and David Archuleta at Disney World in the past 24 hours.

Archie was seen arriving at a hotel last night, and just an hour ago, Cook performed on Main Street at Disney World.

I’m guessing they are filming the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade today…

Update: Per Yahoo, David Cook and Neal Tiemann performed an acoustic version of “Have Your Self a Merry Little Christmas” today–kinda like this. Photos, (many with cartoon characters!) have surfaced. Check out the thumbs I posted here. Plus, there’s a bunch of nice ones over at Live Journal.

    LK08 — yep, what gingerly said ;)

I was using “jingle jam” in a generic, “those holiday concerts radio stations put on” sense, sorry if that was confusing!

Another recap from the Disboards forum, complete with some more pictures of DC, says this:

After David Cook, Sarah Brightman came out. David Cook was very friendly, sang beautifully live, and was rather amusing. Sarah wouldn’t even make eye contact with anyone and didn’t sing live.

And yet, no word about what he actually sang.

In this image released by Disney, ‘American Idol’ winner David Cook performs an acoustic version of the holiday classic ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas‘ in the Magic Kingdom while taping a segment of the ‘Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade,’ Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, to be aired nationwide on Christmas Day on ABC

acoustic version of the holiday classic ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas‘

Well I guess that answers it. LOL

I’m very happy, I think his version of this is really lovely, and yet Disney appropriate (which Happy Christmas wouldn’t have been).

Aww, why didn’t they have him pose with Mickey? They have the same adorable open-mouthed smile.

I agree about Archie’s hair. It kinda looks like a teepee. Still cute as a button but yeah, weird hair. Like I should say anything…Cookie had Astroboy hair during the Finale.

  16. 66 frogcooke Dec 5th, 2008 at 8:10 pm

    hahaha astroboy LOL

    ^Is too bad that I want a picture of the David´s together… I can imagine the hug fest… I want pictures…

Many of us fondly refer to it as Cookie Neutron hair and it happens to be some people’s favorite hairstyle for Cook (not me though).

    Here’s Jimmy Neutron: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Neutron

    Hmm, Archie Neutron?

  19. 69 Garnetstar Dec 5th, 2008 at 8:19 pm

So bumed that David (and Neal) is in town today and a mere half hour away at that. Going to the attractions to see David would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Not kidding at all. Unless you know were he is it would be useless.

I love that description of David by that Disney board poster. She said David was “rather amusing” Isn’t that an apt description. LOL

You know what? I really didn’t care for it at first, but now I kinda miss it.
I think he looked really good that night, I just wasn’t used to it so it took a little processing.

BTW - just found some old forum comments from Dolly Parton week when he got the haircut, and people were saying how strange it looked… LMAO

Sorry if this is too OT.

I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to exclude Archie when I put up that link with the photo of Pluto and Cook. I didn’t know Archie was in there. I just went to the third photo and didn’t look after that. Archie looks very cute!

^Oh don´t worry we didn´t take that way… thank you for post the link…

At least with Taylor’s Rockefeller performance you weren’t bored. I really like Cook but that was a listener performance he did . It definitely, to me was not a visual one. I’d love to have him loose the instrument and get up and move and emote a little. He’s got a great voice and is a cutey but I’d like to be entertained more. Maybe that’s why I like Taylor, he sings great, he entertains and he leaves you smiling. I’ve heard rockers aren’t suppose to be fun, they tend to be serious, is that right?

I’ve heard rockers aren’t suppose to be fun, they tend to be serious, is that right?

David is usually good at being appropriate, in the moment. Happy Christmas/War is Over is the type of song that might need a little more gravitas. Also David was mighty sick so that might have played a role in the performance who knows. It was low key I agree.

But if you happened to catch David on tewer with AI he was “rather amusing” There was the infamous FlashDanceDave! which consisted of David pouring a bottle of water over his head during Billie Jean. But that was scratched because that ended up shorting out his ear mics and guitar.

Then there was classic FlexiDave! were he did a back bend with his guitar during Billie Jean. But he hurt his leg doing that so that was shelved for sometime while he healed. He brought it back and rocked it a few more times. I think the yoga helped.

And then there was the last day of the tour were he smashed his guitar to bits at the end of Billie Jean.

Come to think of it. It might be better if David just stays still during his performances. Self preservation and all that.

So ya know. Mileage and all that.

The only Xmas radio concert that DC is doing that I know is acoustic is Orlando. I don’t think that ATL is. But I do think that they selected ones where his music fits with the other acts, which makes sense.

Mileage definitely does vary on the Xmas performances that DC did at Rockefeller Center. They struck me as very appropriate for the venue and the song, and seemed to walk the line that DC is trying to walk here—that he’s an artist, but here is doing another cover song (or two) at something that could be cheesy. He managed to be substantive while, at the same time, engaging the camera. It sounds like he managed to do the same thing at the DW thing—okay, I’m here at this Xmas parade, Neal and I will pull out the acoustic guitars, and I’ll manage to fit in without overly cheesing out. From what that one poster said, it sounds like it went over well.

Gingerly (from page 1) and Michelle- Thanks for the info. Sorry I left right after I asked that question about Cookie and the jingle jams. I hadn’t heard he was going any, so I thought maybe you were confusing DA doing the tree lighting in LA plus jingle jams. Good for Cook. It is good exposure. Columbus- my home town.

DA is always cute, but I don’t like the tent hair…

Taylor’s White Christmas performance is one of my favorites! Haha - his wild abandon in dancing makes me smile. Love the soulful inflections in his voice, too. I am also a big D squared fan - go figure. I love them all!

Besides, I still think his “When You Wish Upon a Star” was ridiculously beautiful in that commercial, and hell if he’s gonna pimp Disney I want a full version!

ITA. Whenever my spirits need a lift (and sometimes just because), I go to that video. It would make my year (2009) if we got a full version.

I haven’t seen that Disney ad since the finale. It was fun to watch it again.
And yeah, it took him a while, but he did go to Disney World! LOL

There are many many songs I’d love to get a full DC version of. Wish Upon a Star is definitely one of them.

Did Archie also perform yesterday or is he performing today?

  35. 85 cruzceleste Dec 6th, 2008 at 11:21 am

^I don´t think he will be performing, but some people at a WaltDisney forum are saying he might perform today at 11:00 am, but he has to be at California before 6:30 pm for the Hope Lighting so I don´t know…

    Guess I didn´t help -_-U

  36. 86 Trina Dec 6th, 2008 at 11:58 am

I was really hoping by now a picture of them together would have surfaced :sad_wp: That picture of Archie watching him though is so cute!

This is the closest I found to anything Archucook

OH! One of the first things Dave said was something like “where’s my buddy?” and looked at the back of the audience. I turned around and there was Archie! He was in a production tent, I guess doing something for the parade as well? I thought the Girl Scouts in the front row were going to turn and run and leave Dave without an audience they were so excited, but they ended up staying put!

So once David got on stage and settled in, he asked us to all turn around and wave at his friend in the tent behind us… DAVID ARCHULETA!!! Yes, he was there but not performing. I only got a glimpse of him through the crowd and wasn’t able to take a picture. He was a little embarrassed (imagine that) and turned around. I also saw his dad (natch). I talked to my sister later in the afternoon — her office is at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The two Davids were in the lobby of her office building earlier in the day, but she missed them!!
