David Archuleta – 104.1 Jingle Ball Houston TX – VIDEO
David Archuleta shared the stage last night with Colbie Caillat, Gavin DeGraw, Chris Brown, Nick Lachey and Rihanna at the 104.1 KRBE Jingle Jam in Houston TX.
Check out Archie performing “A Little Too Not Over You”:
More videos: “Silent Night”, “You Can”, “Touch My Hand” and “Works for Me”, Crush.

I always wondered what the YMMV stood for. Now I know!
Good point. Taylor Swift is a great example of that. I guess I just get a little frustrated with the people that insist that people like Carrie or Archie are still the same performer they were on Idol, which is not true if you really look back at those videos to now.
lol some radio station in new orleans also has 1000 miles up…. lol lol

On another note, I totally LOVE Nick Lachey and think it’s way cool that he gave Archie’s album a shout out. He’s another male pop singer that I think is a great vocalist and of course it doesn’t hurt that he’s totally hot
I would love for him and Archie to maybe work together sometime. They both have that smooth, soulful pop/r&b type of voice that they could sound awesome on a duet or something.
Wow! That’s very interesting. I can understand Z100 putting up the 1000 Miles video to help promote their upcoming Jingle Ball, but B97 in New Orleans seems totally random, but really great news! Any publicity is good.
Speaking of publicity, ET did a brief interview with David when he was at the Anaheim Jingle Ball.
When did he give David ´s album a shout out???
I’ve been around for a long time and been to my fair share of concerts and live performances. I find it interesting that so many critics, whether professional or not, seem to critique with respect to the “current” cultural tastes of the very average listener. IMHO a great many people go to concerts, not to hear a singer, but to have their fundamental base feelings titillated. They can’t seem to enjoy something unless all of their senses are being pounded and blasted at the same time. Hence the silly back-up dancers, the fireworks and light shows, the all to suggestive tactics of the lead singers, etc. Entertainers who find it necessary to go this route will often get good reviews because they are fitting into the “norm”. Prime examples of this are Madonna and Britney, neither one with any real singing ability, and a host of rocker guys and groups.
The true “singer”, you know that person with great chops who stirs your senses just by the sound of their voice, will never be given the credit their instrument deserves. The majority of the music buying public are tone deaf and untrained and don’t have the ability to listen much less appreciate what is musically good or great. They only want to be “entertained” through the use of gimmicks and sight stimulation.
I’ve heard countless “sheep” ex tole the virtues of the flashy entertainer because that is what they are told and sold. Most critics only write what the untrained masses want to read and hear, otherwise they would be out of a job soon enough.
houstonrufus mentioned it in the following comment which is in this thread:

recap from last nights concert, they recap everyone, here is davids part
This kid seems to be even better live than he is on CD. David Archuleta let his sweet voice shine on songs from his debut album and even delivered an awesome rendition of a Christmas classic: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Silent Night.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬
What’s musically “good” or “great” is not carved in stone. It’s really a matter of opinion, I think.
I see it as different strokes for different folks. I don’t see anything wrong with a stage show that’s just pure spectacle. Las Vegas has been thriving on that sort of performance for years. It’s nothing new.
It’s really just a matter of what people prefer–it has nothing to do with being “tone deaf” or untrained, imo. Some may love the pure singer, others want a visual and musical experience, others may just like the dancing. I’d say critics are also varied in their tastes as well–just like the average consumer.
I’ve been reading criticism for many years, as well as going to lots of live performances, and based on my personal experience, I have to disagree with that statement.
Yes, I agree! they both have improved since Idol, imo…
I couldn’t agree more with MJ. I don’t know which critics you’re reading, Tess, but I don’t think critics tend to “write what the untrained masses want to hear”, because if there’s one refrain about critics I’ve heard on this site, it’s their inexplicable need to put down popular music in an effort to maintain some lame form of critic’s cred. Also, I don’t think rocker guys and groups, or the silly back-up dancer type shows consistently get free passes from the critics. That’s just not true.
That part I kind of agree with. If I just wanted to hear the singer, I’d put on the CD. There’s a reason it’s called a show. That said, I also want see the performance and to hear the singer– the voice is a crucial component of the music! And what I look for in music is in fact, to have my fundamental feelings– ok, I wouldn’t choose the word titillated, but yeah, I guess I want the music to move me on a base level. Sometimes that could mean a performance where the singer is just standing there and interpreting a song, and other times, it will involve my other senses. I like to be entertained in different ways. That doesn’t sound crazy to me, but maybe that makes me sheep. Baaah.
ETA: I just want to say, I’ve been enjoying the links on this thread. O Holy Night is my fave and Archie killed it. *tears* Also, he’s getting super comfortable and good with these interviews– WTG! AND, I also think Carrie and Archie are good live performers.
I agree with mj, everyone will have different tastes. There is really no definition for ‘good music’ since everyone has different tastes. That’s what is so amazing about music; it affects people in different ways.
Personally, I am frikin addicted to these performances lol. He has improved SO much since AI. love love these. I want to go to one of these concerts; I hope he comes to KC someday.
I completely agree with this. I want critics to evaluate artists on what they are doing now, not just some preconceived notion of what they thought or heard they were like during Idol. If Taylor Swift stinks in a live performance, please have the guts to go against the popular flow and say so.
If you just go on the fan board for David A, you would find that there are many, many people who have been smitten by his voice and have been drawn back into music, both musicians and nonmusicians alike. So, even though people may not be able to articulate or give reasons why they like great chops, many (if they will allow their mind to get beyond their biases) will somehow notice.
One will be stress-free if he will just enjoy the artistry of a favorite. Couldnt care less about the opinion of anyone else as long as I enjoy my favorte’s music. I have accepted it as fact that each has his own musical taste and preference (I do like listening to artists of various genres depending on my mood and what Im doing). I have learned to just express my appreciation for an artist and not try to convince anyone to like him or her. In that way Im happy. Cheers!
Last night Hollywood 411 showed a clip of David singing “Silent Night” at the Holiday of Hope Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Also last night, on the show TV Watercooler Randy Jackson was interviewed. They got to talking about David Osmond and the talent coming out of Salt Lake City this coming season. Randy pointed out, “You know we had our boy last season, our runner up Archuleta, David, ‘Archie,’ as we call him, from there.” They then showed of a clip of him, from a while back, walking on the treadmill thingy for the TV guide photo shoot.
Anything that gets his name and face out on the airwaves, regardless of how brief, is good exposure for David. :thumbup_tb:
i ♥ music has a cute virtual fan interview with David. Apparently, he does some sort of chicken dance, but he doesn’t do it in public. Haha!
I don’t think the link above will work with Mozilla Firefox. If you must use Firefox, use THIS LINK instead. The difference is you won’t be able to blow it up to full screen with the latter.
ETA: I just noticed that they have Crush as #11 on their top 20 on demand. Kewl!
DAvid performed Crush and acompanied himself on piano for it at the Chum Christmas Wish breakfast.
side note, it was supposed to be on friday but they moved it to today because it was the only day he was free. lol
^ I can’t wait for the videos. David’s got a lot of clout to be able to move the entire event to fit his schedule. But he isn’t exactly free today. He’s doing the KISS 98.5 Kissmas Bash tonight in Buffalo, NY. I would think they changed it to today since Buffalo and Toronto (where the charity event is at) are close in proximity. Friday he’ll be in New York, NY doing the Z100 Jingle Ball.
yeah he’s got the buffalo one coming up tonight. Hope he gets some rest. lol
btw bonnie hunt auction is up to $4160 with 5 days left… lol

RE: the earpiece and lack of rehearsing with the band:
Jeff told someone about it at the radio meet ‘n greet; that person then told me.
Just thought I’d clear that up.
Thank you Amy…
