those who don’t have a copy of his CFTH album should get it now. it is as amazing as david is.

Bought 2 copies, one for me and one for my mom. We both love it! Listened to over and over on our road trip to my brother’s for Thanksgiving yesterday.

BTW, is it true that Archie’s Christmas shows are not selling well? I heard that ticketmaster is now selling the tickets buy 1, get 1 free. That would sadden me if this concert didn’t sell very well. I’m going and so looking forwad to it.

  • lovemymatthew:

I saw Archie on TV last nite. He sang beautifully as always. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. Thanks Ozarka for the extra video.

  • LK09:

I assume they did not air DA singing Pat a Pan. IMO, it is one of the best songs on his album. His voice just soars on the word “day”.

Here is a video- with technical mishap, but it shows how great a song it it.

Here is “the First Noel” from Kaleidescope as well.

  • LK09:

ghl- you are going to stunned when you see his Christmas music live!

  • LCT:

Tess, when I have to admit at one time I agreed with you until I heard him sing live – Zero Gravity and I thought no pop, then I heard Desperate, then Bubbly, the Contigo en La Distancia and I realized this young man can sing anything!!!! Wow, it is very rare to find an artist that can sing any genre! Listen to him sing The Riddle, Ave Maria, Fields of Gold and you’ll see what we’re talking about! :)

  • sasha1591:

David gave a fabulous performance! You have to see him live on his winter tour to truly feel his emotion and be STUNNED by his vocal talent!!

  • gangreen29:

Katherine sounds great. I really like her recent song “had it all”, if only she had received better material off of AI I think she could have been a huge success. I think she was the most mismanaged contestant off the show ever.

  • ozarka:

ddlovato (Demi Lovato): Listening to “Apologize”… Always makes me think of @DavidArchie haha.. Miss you david!

i haven’t heard that one sunshinegirl… slc i think sold out the two shows, there are several others to my knowledge almost the same way… dunno what it’s looking like across the board, but i think this tour is going to sell pretty well overall… the anticipation to see david is sky high, and he’s been getting press in the upcoming tour cities… no worries about mr archuleta on this one…

  • ggdoorsfan:

‘Idol’ Archuleta’s career a lovely blur
Runner-up from Season 7 of Fox show coming Sunday to Wells Fargo Center in Santa Rosa

    By BILL PINELLA
    THE PRESS DEMOCRAT

At age 10, he won a children’s division of the Utah Talent Competition.

At 11, he was performing an impromptu song in a Los Angeles hotel lobby for “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson.

At 12, he became the Junior Vocal Champion on the TV show “Star Search.” At 17, he received 97 million votes and was the runner-up on season No. 7 of Fox’s “American Idol.” At 18, he released his first single, “Crush,” from his debut self-titled album. As of June, it had sold 900,000 copies worldwide.

And on Sunday, exactly 28 days before his 19th birthday, Archuleta will visit Santa Rosa for the first time and perform at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on the fifth stop of his holiday Christmas From The Heart Tour.

“The ‘American Idol’ thing seems like a lot longer ago than just a little over two years,” Archuleta said last week from Los Angeles, where he was working on his new record.

“But my advice to anyone who doesn’t win and wants to continue in music is to be true to yourself. Don’t try to impress people by being something else. Be who you are and show people that.

I think where I have changed in the past two years is learning how to speak up for myself,” he said. “Of course, management helps a lot. I wouldn’t know the first thing about how to set up a tour. It is amazing how many people you have working for you.

“But I’ve learned how to ask for things. To tell people I want this or that. You have to or you would get walked on. You realize that it is a business.”

  • Suzanne:

the writer of that Press Democrat article is the Assistant Sports Editor. Now that is a small paper.

  • ozarka:

Thanks for the iTunes update and the article, ggdoorsfan!

“Yes, I’ll do a few of those pop songs that I do,” he said. “I’m kind of known for ‘Crush,’ so you have to put that one in there.

Hahaha. I found that very amusing, for some reason.

Here is the set list for tonight’s concert at the Ann Arbor with the 76-piece symphony orchestra…

    A Christmas Festival
    Angels We Have Heard/Jesu Joy
    Riu Riu Chiu
    Zero Gravity
    To Be With You
    The Riddle
    “Trepak” from the Nutcracker
    Fields of Gold
    1000 Miles
    Crush

    ~Intermission~

“Waltz of the Flowers” from the Nutcracker
    Patapan
    What Child is This
    Ave Maria
    Sleigh Ride
    A Merry Christmas to Me
    Silent Night

Word is that the use of cameras and cell phones are not allowed. So we may not get any footage or it will be minimal. Bummer!

  • ggdoorsfan:

there is a cellcast from ann arbor tonight… there are some stealthy ninja’s inside :)

  • ggdoorsfan:

outside of the crush numbers, that asst. sports editor did a much better job writing and formatting this piece than most so called music journalists :)

  • ozarka:

Cellcast is over. “O Holy Night” was added to the set as the encore. “A Merry Christmas to Me” was a song we’ve never heard him sing before. I thought it was going to be just an orchestral piece. Here is 50 second video of “Crush” sung with the orchestral accompaniment…

DavidArchie: Intermission! Wow! Performing an orchestral arrangement of Crush was so cool!!

I have never seen the DA ninjas not get some video, even when it was prohibited. I hope they can get some.

  • lovemymatthew:

Ozarka, thanks so much for the video above. loved it.

  • ggdoorsfan:

audio of ave maria tonight from ann arbor…. the reporter didn’t exaggerate……

mj – this deserves it’s own separate post… for real. The falsetto at 5:40-5:46 is just

  • Suzanne:

Thx for that link. I’m on an iPod touch and it’s like he’s singing in my ear. What a magnificient vocal. And I’m no gusher. Incredible.

  • ggdoorsfan:

some more quotes from concertgoers at tonight’s ann arbor performance with the symphony… wish i could have been there…

    From EmilyFOD
Overheard one woman say, ‘I didnt expect it to be so good’ and a man say ‘Kid’s got a voice’ . :)

    From PriErikaKothari
David cried during silent night, so beautiful!

    From Kristin_514
David wiped away tears while singing Ave Maria

    From PriErikaKothari
Oh by the way this concert totally disproved the theory that David only has teens and women as fans. So many men there!

    From EmilyFOD
WOW. SIMPLY INCREDIBLE. O Holy Night as an encore’ ¦got roses at the end.

  • Suzanne:

Do you know who sang the other part on To Be With You?

  • KathyH:

There are several challenging songs on the album, so I figured he might include one or maybe two of them in concert because of the difficulty level. Lo and behold, he’s singing all of them. That Ave Maria last night was glorious. I followed Kurt Bestor’s and Richard Parkinson’s tweets when they were recording the album and knew David spent a lot of hours perfecting Ave Maria. And here he is, singing it with those same soaring vocals in concert. I’m just amazed.

Haven’t heard anything else from last night. Better go listen.

  • KathyH:

Okay — the “Merry Christmas to Me” is a different sound for him — very light in the way some Christmas songs can be light, but I like it. Would love to know the lyrics. Has anyone learned anything about that song?

And he was great on O Holy Night too.

    Back in for more.

(Going to see Wicked today and I don’t have time for this, but last night seems to have been a great night for him overall.)
