David Archuleta, Backstage at the AMAs – Wants to Collaborate with Jordin Sparks, Taylor Swift

David Archuleta tells the press backstage at the AMA’s that he’d like to collaborate with artists his own age, including fellow Idol, Jordin Sparks, because “she’s such a great singer, and such a fun person to be around.”

Could a duet with Jive label mate, Jordin Sparks, be in David’s future?

Taylor Swift, despite being a country singer, is another talent he’d like to work with. “She’s such an amazing writer,” David says, “and has such a maturity to her at such a young age.”

Artists who have inspired him? The late singer, Eva Cassidy, taught him how to “appreciate the sensitivity in music and really pay attention to the lyrics in songs.”

I was watching Attack of the Show when they showed an Idol-related clip. What else but the uber-popular Teen Girl Archey Finale meltdown. And then Olivia says that the clip was tampered with, and then they showed it with Kevin (the other host) in his jammies inserted into the video, having a meltdown about Archie.

It was fun, especially at the end where he says that he watched Archie on the Today show bopping along with his shiny hair.

I always lose patience listening to Archie. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and I clicked on this to give him another go, but I can’t get through this. I had to change the channel on Ellen because I was unwilling to follow his circuitous speech mannerisms. The worst thing is that I work with teenagers his age. I think at the end of the day I’m on teen overload or something.

  • LK08:

teenie- as David would say, “that’s too bad”.

About Jordan and David- I just don’t see it happening, but you never know.

LK08 and Ozarka, you guys are killing my matchmaker fun… let me have my happiness for tonight… :smiley2_tb:

    Oh, really? Thats to bad….

‘I always lose patience listening to Archie.’

Really? I thought this interview was great…he was very articulate.
He has said from day one that singing is how he communicates … and that speaking in front of groups, interviewing are very difficult for him and that he
is working on improving that . I think he is doing great and there are many interviews that demonstrate that. The people who are hypercritical weren’t fans to begin with so it doesn’t really matter what they say because they will always be critical…and probably haven’t listened to most of the interviews .

I’m not coming from that place. I’ve been following him casually, true, but I haven’t been an intense fan since season 5.

If anything, I’ve tried to listen with an interested ear (that was my point), but the unvarying word choices…I think I’ll just stick to his singing.

  • IdolFanatic:

To teenie…aw, poor thing. I’m sorry you feel that way. I’m not going to try and convince to feel differently.

As I said before, I don’t give a flying fig what others think of his interviews and somehow I doubt Archie does either.

As long as folks continue to do that, Archie will be just fine. He’s not trying to make a living doing interviews. :smile_wp: Of course the singing is the most important thing … the rest is just adorkable gravy. If he were too smooth and polished a lot of us wouldn’t find him so fun to follow.

By the way, I’m almost 40 and I can guarantee that if interviewed I’d sound about the same as Archie does. Public speaking is a challenge for a lot of us. At least the kid can sing like nobody’s business.

Sorry Cruzceleste- I will let you have your matchmaker fun. :)
