David seems to get a lot of coverage in the teen magazines. Have other idols been covered this much in them? I was just wondering because he seems to be popping up in them and featured more prominently on a monthly basis.

Well, AI has never had a true teen idol before. The closest would be Jordin (or maybe Sanjaya, but teens are a bit more discerning than to allow Sanjaya to stay popular for very long). That was what was so odd about David at first–Idol never had a cute, male teen who could actually sing… I mean, really sing. It’s just the nature of male voices that most male singers don’t develop to David’s ability until they are older.

Luckily for David, that’s not all he has to be–he will have that voice even after the teen magazines have moved on because he got too old (i.e., 23-24 lol).

He writes his blogs like he writes his friends. His first blogs were a little more structured. He was still unsure of the fans and was self-conscious in how to communicate with us. We used to joke about how precise he was in his punctuation, etc. He became less formal as the tour wore on. Now we gets notes like I get from my nieces and nephews who range in age from 13 to 21. The blogs also used to be short and sweetà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.now they ramble for days. LOL!

And that is one of David’s many endearing qualities..he treats us, his fans, as if we are close friends…not complete strangers. Who else would reveal so much to us, without giving us to much personal information. lol

Quick story – I met David backstage during one of the idol tour stops. I was the first one in the room with the idols and went right over to David. I introduced myself, shook his hand, complimented him on his set from the tour and “CRUSH”. After the pleasantries, he asked me if I had a piece of gum…because he wanted to make sure his breath was fresh as he met his fans. (of course I didn’t, but the person behind me did and was able to give him one) I know that is not a big deal, but it just struck me as so unique that he would ask that…something that you would ask a best friend…of a complete stranger. If you give him the respect and space that he likes…he will warm up to you as he did with me. (I know…this story was not that quick…sorry.) lol

There is a dichotomy for sure between his musical performance persona and his regular ol’ personality, and it’s a pretty wide difference but that’s mostly because of his extraordinary performance skills. When he’s singing, he’s got the confidence and skill of mid 20s or older (a professional who knows his craft), and when he’s talking, or even more when he’s writing, he’s mid teens (a little younger perhaps than he is, but not a 12 year old). Have you gotten a letter from a 12 year old? I was recently stuck on a broken down train with a group of 16 year olds. We got to talking. David Archuleta could have been one of them.

I think David Archuleta is not going to be a journalist or poet or any other kind of professional writer. He writes simple notes, and that’s fine. People want sophistication because he’s a polished, expressive musical performer, but he’s not going to give that in blogs even when he’s 30. A little bit of that is his youth but most of it is just him. Have you ever seen Neil Diamond interviewed? Flat. Or Diane Warren–she’s practically comatose. Yet they pour out the songs. It’s weird. And incredible.

Wow all of them are very talented and have lots of experience… good for David to be with theis talented group of mens…

David’s blogs are the bomb, to me…they bring back memories of what it was like, for me to be 17. If people think David is “behind the times” they should have seen me back then. There is nothing that puts a smile on my face more than people who always see the glass half-full. And, truthfully, I think David looks at life as though the glass is always overflowing…and boy I’d like to see life that way.

That mouse thing was so random. I was thinking wait was there a mouse character on the float? lol his blogs never fail to crack me up.

Yep. I’ve seen it numerous times along with the “Aw that’s too bad” line that he uses if someone says something negative about him. He doesn’t give in to the negative and that takes a strong and mature person.

but if you really listen to his many interviews, you realize he is way wiser than his years.

He is very wise and he is a master at deflecting questions that he doesn’t want to answer with a giggle or saying something random. He is more than meets they eye and if anyone listens to the lyrics to Works For Me, you realize that he knows what he wants and how he wants to do it.

.but Im more curious about the voice changeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦sometimes i think his would end up sounding like Eliott Yaminà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s (big fan too of this guy)..

His vocal coach says that his voice will get even richer.

Its too bad you feel this way. My background in psychology tells me that most happy, content and well raised kids tend to be confident or secure at who they really are, unpretentious and carefree and full of innocence…Archie has in more than one instance admitted his immaturity…but watch his AOL sessions (or any live performance for that matter)and you will see the transformation…the shift from being a kid to an older soul is just admirable.
