David Archuleta Blogs About Alainis, Natasha and New Kids

David Archuleta blogs on his My Space about his weekend concert experiences, and how he’s turning into a concert-maniac.

Best part for him, is that he’s learning so much about performing, just from watching his favorites live on stage.

Read on. The full blog is here.

I just wanted to tell you really quick about my weekend. On Friday night I was supposed to go home, but we missed our flight. So instead… we went to the Alanis Morissette concert, which was amazing! I forgot how much I loved Alanis and how big of a fan I am. There was a point in time where I was addicted to quite a few of her songs, and I still love her. She is great live, and she gets into it in a really unique way. If you haven’t heard her before you should listen to Uninvited. It’s one of my favorite songs. Another interesting fact about Uninvited that I learned is that the producer who produced the song, Rob Cavallo, produced David Cook’s album. Cool, huh? Another good song of hers is Thank You.

On Saturday, we were able to go back home for a day. I got to spend time with the family again, and what’s cool is there just so happened to be an awesome concert that I didn’t know about going on that day. It was Lady Gaga, Natasha Bedingfield, and New Kids on the Block. I didn’t get to see a whole lot of Lady Gaga since I thought the concert started at 8, but that’s when Natasha’s set started haha. But I finally got to see Natasha perform live!! Of course I was loving it lol. She did amazing, and I was really happy that I got to see her in concert in Utah. I never thought I’d get the chance to, especially at the beginning when she wasn’t really known in the US yet. I really admire the way she’s gone with her music and career, and how sweet of a person she is! She is just down to earth and stays true to herself — whether it’s in person, in her music, or on stage. New Kids on the Block were also amazing too! I couldn’t believe how great of a concert they could still put on, and for a comeback tour. It was full of energy the whole way through!

I love the way he reminded everyone that Cook’s album is going to be out tomorrow. What a great kid!

^Yeah he is a class act…lol He loves Natasha, I think is cute the “crush” that he has on her…

I love all of David’s blogs!! And I’m so glad he’s been able to see so many concerts lately, and with his family. He seems extremely close to his family, so I’m glad he can share it with them. It’s funny how excited he is about these concerts! I hope he is able to take the things he’s learning from these concerts and apply them to his own concerts he will be putting on in the very near future :)

I agree…he is almost as excited for Cook’s CD as he was for his own. :biggrin_wp:

Archie is indeed a class act. Gotta love him. I didn’t know Archie was a fan of Alanis. That’s really cool. :)

How does he get into an Alanis Morrissette concert at the last minute like that? does fame have its privileges? (How does he even know that there’s a concert? when I miss a flight, I wonder where I’m sleeping that night, not about who’s playing where and how fast I can get there.)

  7. 7 cruzceleste Nov 17th, 2008 at 4:13 pm

^Easy Azzof has actions in Ticket Master, so I guess is pretty easy for them to do this kind of things…

How does he even know that there’s a concert? when I miss a flight, I wonder where I’m sleeping that night, not about who’s playing where and how fast I can get there

Thats the reason artists have managers and handlers for I guess…

Damn, I love this kid’s blogs! He’s so adorable, and kind. He’s a great friend. I love how he is always rooting for David Cook, and how he shares his love of other musicians with his fans. It seems to be all about the music for him. I love the variety of his knowledge of other music. He’s a keeper.

    Another mini blog:

    Thank You

I just want you all to know how much I appreciate your unselfish, usually anonymous time and dedication to show your support for me and just want to say, Thank you sooo much. It means a lot to me, I feel like I can’t thank you enough for it.

Abbysee, I agree with you, he is a keeper!!!

Somehow I think this was done by Team David, I don´t see David posting his own performance ;D…and there isn´t any comments like “This was fun”…or whatever…

  14. 14 frogcooke Nov 17th, 2008 at 6:13 pm

well either way, its up. lol

  15. 15 Jabkmc Nov 17th, 2008 at 6:44 pm

Love his big rambling post. haha! I had a feeling this was coming after we got word he’d been to some concerts this weekend.

Awwww. What’s up David? Why the little love post? Do you know sumpin’ we don’t? Did you get early word on Crush’s platinum status? Early word on the sales numbers for the album. Huh? Some amazing fan encounter at the Bonnie Hunt show? Did everything hit you all at once, sweetie?

Is it scary that we know him so well from his blogs to know that something triggered that? LOL!

  16. 16 Tatiana Nov 17th, 2008 at 7:17 pm

Jabkmc - I was thinking maybe he was referring to all the anonymous posters who have “had his back” by commenting respecfully for him on the blogs of some of the nasty critics…although, I like your platinum theory better!! :mrgreen_wp:

  17. 17 gerreb Nov 17th, 2008 at 7:20 pm

^^^I doubt David reads those reviews. I was thinking it was thanking everyone for requesting Crush and getting his name out there to non-Idol fans. But what do I know?? lol. I also like the platinum theory though….let’s go with that one!! :)

  18. 18 Tatiana Nov 17th, 2008 at 7:26 pm

Did you guys see the new rate the music survey about A Little Too Not Over You??? I’m really hoping they are reconsidering this for the second single - it is David’s “Breakaway”!!!

  19. 19 gerreb Nov 17th, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Yeah i saw that, and I took it! I said in the comment box that it should be his 2nd single….i think it’s more radio-friendly!! And what a cool thing for David if they do make it his 2nd single….since he co-wrote it and all! But I won’t get my hopes up, lol

  20. 20 Tatiana Nov 17th, 2008 at 7:50 pm

Yeah, I hear ya gerreb, I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I would just think that by now, with all the fan support and the song being on the iTunes top pop songs with no promo, they should know this one is a hit waiting to happen!!

I think it would be such a better choice than Touch My Hand. I love TMH but it is sooo youthful…I feel like many Top 40 stations would be hesitant to play it. On the flipside, ALTNOY has a stronger R&B vibe. I could see the song fitting in on both Top 40 and rhythmic formats. And the runs during the bridge are insane!

Another not professional review of the album but all kind of awesome:

now, you have probably heard Archie’s opening salvo, the ubiquitious Top 20 “Crush”, an innocuous little ditty about, well…the perils of puppy love. What did you expect? A cautionary tale about the dangers of meth addiction? The kid IS only 17, after all. However, as history has proven with artists like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Aaliyah, age ain’t nothin’ but a number and it has no correlation with talent.

David Archuleta’s self-titled debut was released on November 11, a week before the actual AI champ’s debut hits stores. So, is it actually any good? Yes and no. The good news first. The album is heavily front-loaded. In fact, the first 5 songs are so perfect that they alone warrant the $9.99 plus tax that I paid for a physical copy.

Did you see the YouTube video he linked to? I’m not going to lie, I was sad for a bit when David A didn’t win Idol but I also knew it was coming and was prepared. Those girls’ reactions were so intense it was unintentionally hysterically funny. I almost cried from laughing so hard.

I got a kick out of a picture of David at the Virgin Megastore CD signing. He was grinning so cute with a large Virgin logo right behind his head! Too cute for words.
