David Archuleta Blogs On ‘No Air’ Duet: “I can’t believe I got to sing that song with her”
David Archuleta blogs on dueting with Jordin Sparks on ‘No Air’, visiting Children’s Hospital and swollen cheeks! Read it HERE. Plus, David just wrote a song with Lindy Robbins and Matt Squire…
So I’ve h
ad a pretty awesome week! I was able to get some time to go down to Florida and help Jordin Sparks out with her charity called Jordin Sparks Experience. It was a really neat experience! What made it even better is that I had my mom come down with me. The event was in Miami Beach and I was born in Miami, so it my mom and I were so happy to go back haha. But it was so great because Jordin and I finally got to sing together!! We sang No Air, which is pretty difficult to sing haha. Jordin is such an incredible singer though! I can’t believe I got to sing that song with her. At first when I found out she wanted me to sing that song with her I was thinkin’, “Uh…” lol because it’s such a hard song to sing and I thought I would look like an idiot trying to sing that song with someone who sings that good. It was a real privilege though getting to sing with someone that talented and who sings with that much emotion, and they’re close to my age.
Ha ha. And:
Oh man so while I really enjoyed getting to go to the event, I felt like such a loser because my cheek was like a balloon! It was swollen, but there was nothing I could do to hide it. So I just had to deal with all the pictures and cameras and not let it get to me lol. At least I’ll be able to tell where the pictures were taken, because if my cheek is swollen in any of them it means I was on my Florida trip in the beginning of February, 2010.
It turned out to be a problem with his molars. The hospital he visited fixed him up with some antibiotics.
While we were down there though we were able to go to the Miami Children’s Hospital, and it was great getting to meet the kids there. The only thing that made me feel uncomfortable were all the cameras there lol. Not just for my cheek but just how we wanted to focus on getting to talk and meet with the kids. But Jordin was able to ask the cameras to leave once we went to visit the individual kids in rooms to put the focus on them, and it’s cool to see how much Jordin cares about those kids.
Sweet! Once upon a time, I worked at a Children’s Hospital, and it was cool to see celebrities drop by to visit the patients. The kids would get so excited!
David is back to writing songs for his next album:
This week ahead is back to writing! I had my first day with Lindy Robbins and Matt Squire yesterday and it’s off to a great start! I just felt really comfortable with the song and felt like I wasn’t worrying about trying to impress someone or be anything else. I’m excited for the day when everything’s ready to get the album out for you guys to listen to the new stuff! But I better leave now because as you can see I can write until your eyes fall out. But thanks everyone for your continued enthusiasm about this next project! I will talk to you guys later!
Bye!

yay for song writing… anxious for new music!
Love his rambling blogs. His swollen cheeks were hardly noticeable in the pictures. I wouldn’t know they were swollen if no one mentioned it.
oh i guess also while they were in miami childrens hospital they filmed some sorta psa for something?

I think Archie has a ‘Crush’ going on here. He’s such a sweetie. Good for Jordan telling the cameras to leave. These things are supposed to be for the kids, though I’m sure some of them and their families wouldn’t mind having their pictures published with their idols.
Archie is WAY too humble. No Air, the guy part in particular, may be a difficult song for someone like Chris Brown who has mediocre vocals, but it is NOT a difficult song for someone like Archie. I thought their duet was cute, but at the end of the day, that song’s really a Jordin showcase no matter who sings the counter.
Not to mention the whole singing with emotion thing. Jordin’s improved immensely on stage presence and performance and song interpretation, but Archie has always sung with more emotion, IMO.
They are both sweeties though.
Can’t get enough of David and Jordin’s No Air duet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd_Avi3Y50I
David thinks he looked like an idiot singing with someone as talented as Jordin? haha far from it! What an amazing performance! David is so talented. He can sing with the best of them.
Can’t wait for his new music!
David…. NEWS FLASH!!!
You are an amazing singer as well as Jordin!
The duets both of them knocked me for a loop!
Ha! Here’s to them writing a duet for his new CD with of course
Jordin on it and a smokin’ hot peppers one as well!
“Archie is WAY too humble. No Air, the guy part in particular, may be a difficult song for someone like Chris Brown who has mediocre vocals, but it is NOT a difficult song for someone like Archie.”
he must have been listening to fetus with hair trying to sing it….
… his blogs are just so open and disarmingly smile producing… no muss, no fuss, no drama… he and jordin make a pretty good team, and seem to bring out the best in one another… that swollen cheek wasn’t noticeable to me at all in any of the videos, because it sure didn’t affect his singing ”no air” w/jordin like a pro…
I liked Chris Brown with Jordin on No Air, but I really like David’s take on it too. Not the same of course, but equally as good in my opinion. (David’s voice is just ridiculous.)
As to David’s humility — I really don’t see that changing. I love that about him and I imagine those who benefit from such deferential statements don’t mind.
And finally, LOL to frog. I finally listened to “beaver” sing that song. And he really was just completely lost, wasn’t he? Poor kid.
LOL i finally listened to it this morning as well… and… well… i’ll leave it at that. Way out of his league… just sayin.
Always enjoy David’s blogs, the longer the better even if our eyes fall out. Besides being muscially talented, he is also a comedian and doesn’t know it. Love the duet with Jordan. The work they did for charities was fantastic. Hard of hearing children receiving hearing aids and quite possibly hearing music well for the first time. Promoting text free driving. Teddy bears for Children @ the Children’s hospital. So glad that David is back working on the album and in the meantime hearing and promoting other artists. With Hollywood week starting, it brings back good memories. New York Post showed David’s performance of Heaven.(among other favorites)

That would explain why both of them are in jeans. They may be saving the PSA video for later in the year to correspond with the September 15th day.
thanks for the link, abms…love the duet! and here’s hoping this might bring about a collaboration for his second album!
btw, does it look to anyone else that he might be about as tall as jordin now? wasn’t she a LOT taller than him at the end of season 7?
OMG, he so effin’ funny! He’s so disarmingly charming and honest. How refreshing is that? The duet with Jordin was fabulous. I really think they should do it again. They both sing their faces off. I like that.
These two are a vocal match made in heaven. I would LOVE to see them tour together.
David is ridiculous! I guess he really doesn’t know how talented he is!
How many songs has David written already-30ish? How many people has he written with-15ish? And who knows how many more out there we don’t know about. JIVE-can David start recording yet?
Because I’m bored and this has been a really long drought, there were:
Nashville (Aug)-Joy Williams, Andrew Fromm, Matt Bronleewe
Nashville (Oct)-Joy Williams, Matt Wertz
NY (Oct)-Jeymes Samuel
LA (Nov)-Victoria Horn, Matt Squire, Daniel Bedingfield, Kina Grannis
LA (Jan)-Nasri, Adam Messinger, Eman Kiriakou, Andre Merritt, Claude Kelly, Dapo Torimiro, Lindy Robbins, Priscilla Renea
LA (Feb)-Lindy Robbins, Matt Squire, Victoria Horn
long time no see abbysee! we’ve been on the david ”battlefield” for a minute, huh?
those two do match up pretty darn well vocally…
Gosh, I love this guy. First of all, David James, you don’t EVER sound like an idiot. Get that through your beautiful head, OK? Secondly, I love that he said he was uncomfortable with the cameras in the hospital. A fame whore David is not, and he knows when to keep private things private. And…”I can write until your eyes fall out.” Hahaha…Well, we do know that, David. But see, that is part of your charm. You can ramble forever and I wouldn’t care…No idea why I’m talking to him like he’s here, lol. Anyway, another awesome blog, and a terrific duet.
”I can write until your eyes fall out,” said Captain Obvious.
lololol
Well, I agree with David. That song, No Air, is hard, and he did fantastic. But, Chris Brown doesn’t have to be knocked. He sang that song absolutely phenomonal and Chris owns it. But, David, did so well. He gave credit where credit was due. Jordin was smart to have him join her. She is such a positive figure and one David will stay close to, I’m sure.
And I think I finally see the puffy “cheek” in this picture MJ displayed. It looks like his left cheek. It looks a little more swollen at the bottom.
I totally relate to David’s comment that he really felt rotten and disfigured with the cheek swelling going on, but what can you do, but proceed forward with a positive attitude. And the fact that he went to the hospital the next day and got checked out is quite ironic, huh?
I guess I wasn’t the only one who noticed he seemed taller in recent pics. While the main growth spurt for guys typically occurs at 15-16, they can continue to add inches into their late teens.
Actually, some guys gain height even into their 20s.
Although he has definitely grown an inch or so since Idol ended, I have to hand it to Jordin. She’s a good friend. It was nice of her to forego the tall heels she usually wears and sport flats for a couple of days. lol
I think Jordin is even talller than his brother (just go to the facebook site of Jordin Expirience there is a ton of photos of then together)
This is what I like about David – he’s real and down to earth! He continues to be himself and hasn’t let Hollywood change him! For that I will continue to follow him since he’s earned my respect!
