David Archuleta Co-Writes Songs for his Upcoming Album, Auditions Musicians

It appears that David Archuleta plans to stick close to his home base in Utah as much as he can. According to the fan site, Archuleta Fan Scene, David auditioned musicians from the Salt Lake City area over the weekend:

Fan Scene has learned that David Archuleta auditioned musicians last Saturday, October 11th in his hometown of Salt Lake City. Twenty hopefuls from area colleges, music schools, and the local music scene showed up with their instruments, and dreams in tow. Davidà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been considering putting together a group of quality musicians from the area so he can stay closer to home for practices and rehearsals. Rumor has it there were several skilled musicians in the lot who are up for consideration. I wonder which of those lucky musicians will be getting a phone call from David Archuleta.

Also, according to AFS, a couple of songs that David Archuleta co-wrote will make it on to his upcoming album, due to drop November 11.

I am surprised that David would limit the talent pool to Salt Lake considering he has is one of the hottest up and coming artists this year. I would have thought that he and Jeff would want the best of the best to kick off his career. As someone up above said, a really talented musician would move for the right job.

It is a nice gesture don’t get me wrong but limiting IMO

Autumn- I am not sure he is limiting the talent pool to SLC. He just did auditions here first from what I understand.

David’s blog said that he was auditioning musicians for practices and rehearsals. It didn’t say for performances. So, he may have musicians that he works with there, and then tour and perform with others or a mix of the two.

I think he’s making a wise move because if he didn’t stay in Salt Lake, he would give up any hope for a normal life. Utah is where he’s lived for 11 years. His family and friends are there. Living there will also keep him largely out of the media frenzy that is California and New York.

He’ll have a much better chance of having an ordinary life which is what I think he wants. David’s not after fame or money. He just loves to sing and touch people’s hearts with his music.
