David Archuleta made his acting debut on Nickelodeon’s iCarly tonight. Check out his scene after the jump. Plus, he performs “Crush.”
It was very cute!

Intros and Outros…
American Idol – I Love This Cheesy Show
I know. It’s not exactly written by Aaron Sorkin. These sitcoms for kids are written like most sitcoms in the 70s/early 80s (Diff’rent Strokes, etc.)–strings of weak jokes with not a lot of substance.
David’s an incredible singer and musical talent in general, but he really could use those acting lessons. I mean, he did fine, but it was slapstick without the pratfalls.
I agree that he did well on the scripted filler bits with Miranda Cosgrove. His delivery of those were much more natural.
lol well it got me, I actually did the search for the term….
And about iCarly being a silly show, well it is, and is what is pretend to be a show for kids… personally I liked, I can watch and episode whenever I have time and I don ´t even have to know what happened the episode before… in the end is a show for kids/ teenagers so I don ´t want to find lots of serious stuff in it…
there was a big gap between when he filmed iCarly and when he did the filler bits. lol
LOL! Yep … evil plus Archie definitely do not compute.
David has said himself that if he wanted to pursue acting he’d need lessons/work. And if he did so, I’d be fine with it but I’m looking forward to seeing his continued growth as a musician.
Enjoyed “Crush” last night. Can’t wait for the NA performance today.
I watched “Crush Night” last night.
Plus, they never said what a hobknocker was, out loud, that is.
He was cute but the poor kid can’t act to save his life. I was kind of surprised at how little he was actually in the show.
You can buy David ´s episode now in iTunes is $1.99…
I thought it was really cute, and that David has the potential to be a good actor. The hosting bits between the episodes showed that. The problem with these kids’ shows and judging acting talent is that the kids are supposed to overact. Miranda Cosgrove, if given a non-kids-show script, is actually a really good actor. Same with that girl who stars in Tru Jackson (she was in that spelling bee movie, and was really good in it, but she overacts on this show). The kids aren’t supposed to use the same style of acting that they would in an adult show.
David had a half hour to learn his lines before he filmed. He did great considering that and the fact it was his first time attempting acting. His co-hosting bits (which were basically acting, except directly to the camera) were great.
He really wasn’t very good and I don’t think there is any reason for it other than he’s just an awkward kid without much natural acting talent. Having 30 minutes to learn a few lines isn’t really a hardship. He just couldn’t perform well. Stick with your day job indeed, Archie.
I thought he was just fine for that type of show. I have no great need to see David pursue an acting career, but for what it’s worth, Will Smith’s acting on the early days of “Fresh Prince” was pretty terrible, and he’s gone on to do just fine I’d say.
I don’t think you can judge anyone too seriously based on their first acting job (and one that consists of about five minutes of screen time at that).
Well, I didn’t watch iCarly for David’s acting skills! I just wanted to see him and hear him sing. It wasn’t supposed to be his big breakthrough acting performance! LOL
So what’s your favorite show then, Spongebob? :p
David is so darn cute in the photo. Thanks MJ. I have seen that show a couple of times, but didn’t pay that much attention to it, but this time I was on pins/needles watching every second waiting for David.
David’s “iRocked the Vote” episode on iCarly is currently #8 on iTunes’ Top TV Episodes! :thumbup_tb:
I missed the episode (we don’t catch much tv on the weekends), but my son watches it all the time during the week so I know I’ll see it. I actually like the show, I think its cute. Course, I liked Drake & Josh too, so I don’t know what that says about my maturity level, lol.
