Little David did a lot better in interview than I thought he would. Nice interview, sweet kid, quite talented. I wish him well!

such a sweet, genuine kid. I can’t believe he actually doesn’t like listening to his own performances.. so cute when he covers his ears like that..

I think David’s been expressing himself much better since Tuesday night. Guess without all the stress (and dad hovering, maybe?) he’s loosening up a little. And maybe Cookie’s having a slight influence? (ok, that’s probably wishful thinking!)

    Heh.

Loved what Michael said about Archie:

“Can’t wait to get him on the road, can’t wait to get him on the road”. Ha, ha.
    He wants to corrupt Archie.

Good interview. I loved the rest of the top 12’s reflections on him– and wow, Amanda looks gorgeous without all that makeup!

He is soooo friggin adorable!!! How the heck can anyone hate him?!!

It has taken me all season (maybe I’ve been too focused on DC) but I have finally fallen in love with this kid. He is absolutely adorable. The two of them are so funny together. He makes the perfect straight guy with Cook. I also think he has been very articulate today.

“Can’t wait to get him on the road, can’t wait to get him on the road”. Ha, ha.
    He wants to corrupt Archie.

Did you hear Archie’s reaction to seeing that? It was funny. And his fingers in his ears! Too cute.

He is a cute kid. I think DC has been a good influence on him. DA seems to really look up to him.

Amanda looks gorgeous without all that makeup!

Totally agree! Now if we could only get her to hook up her hair!

    MJ and Cook…..go “corrupt” Archie……

  10. 10 JudyOhio May 23rd, 2008 at 3:07 am

lol, Archie is so “aww shucks”….do you actually think he is capable of being corrupted??? (Time will tell), lol

  11. 11 skylight1219 May 23rd, 2008 at 4:50 am

He is absolutely adorkable. I doubt they’ll be able to corrupt him, because his dad won’t be too far from his side. And, really, why should they? He is who he is. Just what’s so wrong with being a sweet, innocent guy with high morals? Why are people so bent on corrupting others? If anything, maybe some could learn from his example, even though he’s only 17.

I have it on good authority that Archie’s mom will be accompanying him on the tour.

    I. love. this. kid. absolutely sweet and real, so happy for him and wishing him a bright bright future

I love him too. I am glad he realizes how he touches people when he sings. I also have no doubt that he loves to sing. He just can’t listen to himself, how ironic. He’s funny as hell to. I don’t want him corrupted as his sweetness is part of his charm, but the road is going to open his eyes. This is going to be a definitive summer for him. I am so impressed with how self possessed he is.

I have finally let go of any negativity I had of Archie throughout the season now that DC has won. However, I will respond to the fact that he doesn’t listen to himself; doesn’t he NEED to? If he wants to constantly improve and grow as a performer, doesn’t he need to take the time to look at himself and self-reflect? I know that it’s probably difficult, but it’s also important.

But wasn’t this the guy who shouldn’t win because he couldn’t do interviews?

Very sweet, humble, funny and adorable. Making me proud to be an Archie fan during S7. However, coming in 2nd is perfect for him.

  17. 17 Mackie May 23rd, 2008 at 9:30 am

Someone should advice Archie not to close his ears…theres no way he can improve himself if he keep on refusing to listen back to his own performances..maybe thats why he doesn’t realise he closes his eyes and waving his hand most of the time (funny that he actually realise it!) Hence, the lack of stage presence. Funny thing, when i saw all his old performances during star search when he was a lil kid, like this one, he had more stage presence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omAC9NseDso
But i give props for him, singing with only one vocal cord, his voice is so amazing. He just need more polishing on his talent. Hopefully, he will go far.

Comments like this prove my speculations that part of the hatred and disdain some people felt towards Archie was due to the threat he posed to their own favorites. Well, I’m glad that all is right with the world once again.

He’s better off being runner up, otherwise, the hatred would have increased tenfold, and there would be a race to prove him yet another AI winner failure. I think he’s going to have a long and solid career ahead of him and people will finally come to see what his fans have seen in him all along. Welcome to the light side my friends, free of the all too popular cynicism of folks like SleazeHack at EW.

I’ve always wondered if Yoko Ono or Paul McCartney has ever contacted David A about how he has revived John Lennon’s Imagine. It would be so cool for David if they did. David has been more than adorable in every interview I have watched. I know he is going to be so successful. Love you in Chicago.

  20. 20 MrsCastro May 26th, 2008 at 12:00 am

Yes, Yoko ono did contact David (or somebody at Idol) that she loved his version of Imagine. It was on a video, somebody asked him if he knew about it, and he said yes, and he thought it was cool.

    David is the best!

And maybe they won’t “see the light”. Not everybody is going to like the same thing. Whether or not one enjoys David’s singing is a matter of taste–a personal opinion. Not some battle between good and evil.
