Archie says he’ll be signing with Jive records. He’ll be listening to songs now. He spent more time defending his father.
Here’s an interesting tidbit. David was initially dismissed when he auditioned in front of the producers at cattle call, but as he was walking out of the stadium a producer came after him to tell him that he was, in fact, through to the next round. Things that make you go Hm.

What a sweet kid.
Interesting about the initial auditions with 4 people singing for 20 seconds…and he was dismissed at first, then called back.
He must be so sick of answering questions about his dad. Sheesh!
Damn- i give Larry a 10 for his questions.
Wow really really interesting about his initial audition. Ive auditioned before (16 yrs old) and the process is a nightmare and a half. for those of you who ever wonder, ” How is it possible that people like Jordin Sparks and DA get cut in the initial processes”- its very possible with all the chaos.
I think this proves that he was not a “plant” and that makes me real happy. I wonder if someone recognized him from SS (unlikely), but i would have loved to see how that went down. I just dont see one of the judges turning him down and then thinking to themselves, “Wait, he was really good!.” I wonder if a 3rd party stepped in…
Duke, I thought the story about how he didn’t make the first cut, but then was hunted down and told he made it, seemed more like confirmation that he WAS a plant. That someone realized they had messe up and that he was one of THE TCOs that was supposed to move on. OR else Jeff Archuletta pitched a fit and brought it to everyone’s attention that his son was a Star Search winner and had sung for Kelly Clarkson before (maybe he had the video in hand to show people…) Who knows, but I did find that revelation by David to be interesting.
mocha… to be honest it could go either way, and the thing you said about his dad stepping in is a definite possibility…but i mean lets be realistic, im sure 99 times out of 100 the kid would get through cuz he has quite a voice. but if he was a plant (and this is what i think the deal was with Carly (for sure) and probably Michael Johns) they would have just zipped him to the third round (ie paula randy simon round) because it would have been absolutely pointless for him to do the initial rounds if they already knew him…so thats why i would say he wasn’t pre-selected. also, there is wayy to much going on at the “cattle call”(there are about 14 booths set up with 1 to 2 judges at each having soneone singing at them at all times) and there is no introduction or anything like that between contestant/judge, so they wouldnt have known who he is and most of the judges are local music teachers/affiliates of IA so they vary from city to city, so i doubt AI would risk its reputation by telling them, “hey when so-and-so comes up, just put them through.” Thats another reason. But as i am thinking of more possibilities, it is possible that papa told them “hey you know my son, the SS kid, turns 16 and is auditioning this year in san diego” and they were proabbly keeping an eye out for even thought it would be really really hard to do that, so when he was rejected, dad might have seen a producer he knew from the stands and been like “yo, wtf?”
ok so im done speculating- the lady probably just meant to put him through but fudged up. that will be on my list to ask God when i die.
Yea, we can speculate forever, but we will never know the truth. Maybe he forgot his words that first audition and was shown the door….. I still say Jeff A had something to do with it. But hey, he got his kid to #2, so he did something right. I’m glad Archie was on this season, he upped the talent level and his Final 3 songs were incredible displays of his musical abilities.
I think if his dad had something to do with changing the producers’ minds, Archie would have kept his mouth shut about this. He certainly didn’t have to give up this information. Why would he want to add more fuel to the fire? It could just be that someone looked over his application as he was walking away, saw that he was a Star Search winner and said ‘hey, get that kid back here’! Or maybe they knew there was a Star Search winner auditioning, had every intention of putting the kid through to the next round and his judges didn’t realize it was him until after they dismissed him. I don’t think that would qualify him as a plant though. Anyway, I don’t think a stage-parent going ballistic on the producers would entice them to change their minds. On the contrary . . .
Check out Archie’s interview with Justin G. Relax, and hilarious too!

I don’t understand why there would any speculation beyond what David said on LK. I got the impression that they made a mistake, and said, wait a second, we didn’t mean to say no to him! It’s a cattle call, and it’s not unusual for a cow to get “lost” but then brought back to the herd like he is supposed to. To assume otherwise is like saying, he didn’t really have the talent to make it through initially, so his dad “must” have stepped in to intervene. I mean, really?! The most obvious conclusion is that it was crazy and it was a mistake.
“It could just be that someone looked over his application as he was walking away, saw that he was a Star Search winner and said ‘hey, get that kid back here’!”
There is no application at this stage…imagine having to look through 10,000 applications, one for every auditionee.
The star search doesn’t fly for me. How many star search finalists have been turned down? A plethora I am sure! His father pitching a fit would have had the opposite effect. They would have been glad he was cut.
I’m sure everyone who tries out has to sign something. How extensive that is, I’m not sure. I’m also sure that some people get to bypass the cattle calls. I’m not speculating on Archie. At this point, it hardly matters.
