David Archuleta is reportedly headed to the Philippines to co-headline a charity event with Katy Perry to raise funds for the victims affected by the typhoon and flooding that recently devastated the area.

Katy Perry’s upcoming concert in Manila, Philippines has been postponed due to the Southeast Asian nation’s recent tragedy. The show was moved to a later October date and was reformatted as a charity event instead with “American Idol” finalist David Archuleta.
According to local showbiz correspondent Tim Yap on his Twitter page, the MTV Philippines Live event, scheduled to take place on October 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, has now been tentatively rescheduled to October 17.
@iamtimyap twittered:
David Archuleta is pretty much confirmed. As I tweeted, only Katy Perry’s sched is pending-let’s hope her sched allows/opens up for this
Plans seem tentative for now. I’ll post updates as soon as they are available

Has Katy confirmed it yet? Hope it works out fine. Timing is right for David before he finishes tour with Demi and starts Christmas album tour. Good going for Katy and David.
BTW, I just want to share a comment made by someone I happened to find in an article on examiner.com concerning Katy and David concert.
Tears were flowing down on my face when I read this. David doesn’t know how inspirational he is by just being who he is. On his next blog, I am sure he would say he is excited to go to Philippines again and to be a part of helping hands for the people there.
^^ Oh, ghl, that was such a beautiful story! I’ve heard many stories like that. It’s very touching. I really hope the concert comes to fruition for the sake of the victims of the flooding.
If for some reason Katy Perry won’t be able to make it, hopefully they can find someone else to take her place. Heck, David could headline that concert on his own and still draw in a huge crowd. They absolutely LOVE him down there! He’s always been at the top of their charts.
this is my soul brother #1 takin’ care of the folks. nice story. hope it goes off w/out a hitch.
Well said gg! IF this is all true, what a great thing to do for a terrible thing that happened!
Whoa, David could bring Charice on stage and they could do they’re duet. The crowd would go nuts.
This is a great thing they are putting on. A big morale boost for sure. Philippines hang in there, I’m praying for you and the Samoan Islands as well.
I hope and pray this gets confirmed! David has lots of fans there and they showed the Davids their love when they did a concert there.
David A has also done a Jingle concert with Katy Perry last year.
Thoguhts and prayers go to all affected by these horribe storms.floods etc. Also am so touched by the man who found inspiration by accidentally bumping the remote to turn Idol on when David was singing Imagine. I’ve read many inspirational stories on this journey and so hope this benifit concert will added to that journey.
I’m thinking postive that this charity will lift the pain of those suffering.
Wonderful thing, hope it happens for David A and Katy Perry going. My thoughts are with those in the Phillipines at this time, I wish them the best going forward and thanks for the links for being able to contribute!
PJ – Thanks for the donation links! I wasn’t sure where to go to help, and this helps a lot.
You’re all welcome. Purps sent them to me, so I thought it would be a good thing to post it here. Also, I donated a small sum to the Philippine National Red Cross directly. I figure they are on the front lines helping.
Again, Kudos to Archie!
Thank you sooo much guys!! thanks MJ for posting this….this is the worst to hit Manila, we are doing whatever we can to recover from this, my cousin’s home got washed out by the flood, but she’s thankful her family is intact. The storm ended with tragic results so it is really a nice idea to have Archie perform for charity.
God bless Archie for doing the charity, and esp. to you guys, everyone in this blog who donated and prayed for us here in Manila.
OMG. Archie is such a great guy! I live in the Phils. and what he and the other artists (if others are collaborating) will do will indeed touch the hearts of us Filipinos. How much do you think the tickets cost?
Thank you, mj and pj (especially for posting the links to help), and to everyone who donated (mhel)/will donate to the cause and who are praying for us. This is indeed a great tragedy and we could use and appreciate all the aid we can get.
To the folks who were concerned/asked about me, thank you. The first floor of our house (where we actually stay) was submerged and almost everything got soaked in floodwater but I and my family are safe…when the water was already neck-deep, we stopped trying to save stuff and went up to the detached second floor of our house. It was a scary, uncomfortable day and night for us, but we certainly didn’t have it as bad as the others did, for which we are grateful (and a little bit guilty). We just hope that this new super (Category 4 to 5) typhoon (Pepeng) that is said to be also upon us changes its course to where it cannot hurt anyone.
(Archie is a good kid. Bless his heart.)
I just donated too.
I think any amount will go a long way. So skip a coffee or two and send the money instead!
