Readers have been posting all sorts of fun stuff in comments. Thank you readers! Lots concerning upcoming events featuring Idol winner, David Cook.
First, David tells Ryan Seacrest on his KISS morning show today that a release date has been set for his upcoming Idol album. It’s November 18, so mark that date on your calendars. Or, maybe not, because release dates are subject to change, and they often do.
David also spoke to Ryan a bit about his involvement with Stand Up to Cancer, tonight’s hour-long telethon to benefit cancer charities being broadcast on many networks. He’ll be appearing to make a pitch for donations, and I’m hearing that he won’t be live–that he taped his bit ahead of time. In any case, it’s a great cause. Tune in tonight to watch on ABC, NBC and CBS at 8/7c pm.
Lastly, the photo. It’s David posing for a picture with Olympic medalist and gymnist Nastia Liukin at Wednesday’s taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show season premier. David is featured on the big Oprah premier performing “Time of My Life” (watch an audience video here) as 175 US Olympians file off the stage and into the audience. You’ll be able to see that on Monday. Check your local listings. David also got a hug from Oprah (watch the commercial). That in itself should be good for a few more downloads of TOML.
PS:Â Carrie Underwood will be appearing on Stand Up To Cancer tonight to perform the charity single “Just Stand Up!” available on iTunes now.

David Cook - walkin’ that fine line between art and commerce. There it is, in a nutshell. David, keepin’ it real. Gotta love it.
I love that picture. Wonder if David got any of the Olympians to sign his hat? It does have some space left, I think… LOL
Anyway - not expecting much DC time from SU2C, but I’m sure David’s just happy to be involved in any way he can. He has inspired many people to support the cause, and it’s only right that he should take part in this event.
Lastly - is it Monday yet? I really want to see TOML on Oprah. The commerical is a great appetizer. I can’t help but feel like having TOML on Oprah’s Olympics special sort of makes that song the semi-official Olympic theme song for 08. I stumbled across some Olympic tribute videos today on the Tube, and you’d be surprised how many of them use TOML for audio.
November 18! Cannot wait. Yay Cookie!
I cannot wait for this album. OH Well Analog Heart and AI downloads are going to have to be enough until then.
i think i need help. i keep watching this oprah commercial over and over with tears in my eyes, i can’t stop! this hug is just awwwwwwww

what about Axium? i don’t know how would I survive this wait without the axium tracks.
They’re both wearing their medals. :)
Jolene, I read somewhere that he did get Olympian autographs on his hat.
My computer at work isn’t allowing me to watch Oprah’s commercial (something about the flash player so I’ll have to see it from home) but I’m stoked that they’ve included him on the commercial. Good publicity for David.
So, is it 11/18 yet? LOL. I know dates can change, but I’m happy that we’ve gotten some info directly from David on this. I hope the date sticks.
You can watch it on YouTube, AInoob. Someone uploaded it HERE.
I’m also replaying it for the hug. It’s captivating.
I’m still hoping we get a single, and not the day before the album drops, either…
But until we hear something, I guess AH, AI and Axium tracks will have to do. Since I love all of the above, I don’t think it’ll be a great hardship. LOL
Ainoob
maybee a youtube link would work for you?

I don’t know how to get Axium tracks. I tried once but it did not work. oh well.
Jolene/justic, you’re awesome! Thanks for the links. How sad am I, I’ve already replayed the clip 5 times
You can download 2 Axium albums from Walmart.com. It’s very simple. I’m not too technical, and I was able to do it!
Ooh, Oprah. Nice one, David’s people!
I think this will turn out to be the actual date. It seems ideal - he’ll get the hardcore fanbase buying it for week one, and then probably benefit from having the CD sold for like $5.99 on Black Friday to boost the 2nd weeks sales. So far everything points to the album being ahead of schedule or on schedule, so I think it’s definitely doable.
I really hope we get confirmation that a single will be released ahead of the album, even if it’s just by a couple of weeks. Quite a few rock acts are releasing albums in November and their singles are going to be all over the radio starting this month. At the Teen Choice awards red carpet, DC mentioned that a single would be released asap, then he was rumored to be recording the single two weeks ago, and since then, he mentioned that there hasn’t been any talk of a single release. I’m not particularly worried, just confused and eager to hear something other than TOML on the radio.
I really can’t stand Oprah, but find myself eager to get home and watch an Oprah commercial. Sigh.
I’ll be shocked if we don’t hear about a single sometime soon even if it is released only a couple of weeks prior to the CD drop date. I’ve been curious though if they may do what they did with Daughtry though and not even release it to iTunes as a single. Just drop the CD out there and if you want to download the song you gotta wait until the CD hits iTunes. I’m almost certain that’s what they did.
Maybe we should start a support group because I’ve been doing the same thing. Remind not to wear eye makeup when this actually airs LOL Really I have chills watching it and I’m so happy and proud he was asked to take part in such a special show. I don’t know if 19 had a hand in this or if it was Oprah herself, but this is a huge, huge episode and I would think she was mighty picky who was featured. If I were his mom I don’t know how I would be comprehending all this.
Like Cheese, I’m not that crazy about Oprah, but this is a huge opportunity for Cookie and I’m glad that he got it. I also realize too that some of these release dates tend to change from following past idol releases, but I do like this release date and hope that it sticks. :)
I haven’t been an Oprah watcher for a long time, but I’ve already watched this commercial *mumble mumble* times. A special mention in an episode that has been so heavily promoted as being all about the Olympic athletes - and a televised hug! I have a feeling someone on her staff is a big fan (maybe even O herself?!). A wonderful opportunity and terrific exposure. I’m proudly and happily teary - again…
His life must seem so surreal at times.
I JUST WATCHED OPRAH AND THE NEW COMMERCIAL WITH DAVID IS WHAT WAS SHOWN!!! THERE WAS ONE THAT THEY WERE SHOWING EARLIER IN THE WEEK THAT DID NOT FEATURE HIM. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE HIM ON THE TV SCREEN, HE LOOKS TOTALLY CUTE.
I didn’t see him on SU2C, did anybody else? Maybe they ran over on some parts and had to cut some.
I was wondering the same as Spritely — I didn’t see Cookie on SU2C, but I wasn’t watching the screen every second. They may have run out of time, as Spritely said. Or, did someone see him?
I found the show moviing and enlightening. Hope it was successful.
I think they tried to cram too much in a one-hour show and had to cut some stuff. I imagine Cookie’s pre-taped message was one of the casualties. The show was very moving (I admit it…I got weepy
) and it had the desired effect - it made me stand up and donate. Even without Cookie there they got my donation because while I was watching the show specifically to catch a glimpse of him, I was moved by the survivor stories and the scientific research portions made me hopeful that a cure is within reach. Maybe Cookie’s segment will find its way onto his myspace page (yeah, I know, doubtful but hope springs eternal, right? lol)
I can’t wait for the album and I heard there would be a single then that there wouldn’t be. That he was just going to put out his CD or “record” as he likes to call it. lol.
I doubt it that 19 had anything to do with Oprah having David Cook on her show to sing TOML. Oprah holds those keys to her kingdom and I am sure she and or her staff watched the network news and caught that David Cook’s TOML was featured twice like a lot of people and thought that it would be appropriate to have him sing it on her show at the closing. This is fantastic for David. That song should be the theme song for the Olypmics now!
November 18th can’t come soon enough for me!
This thread is probably very dead by now, but I observed something and this is really the best place to post it. In the three days since the Oprah commerical popped up, TOML has been slowly (but steadily) climbing back up the iTunes chart, whereas before then it was on a downward trajectory.
it moved 69 —> 57. Not amazing, but since I’m pinning this just on the Oprah promo, I think it bodes well for the actual show. Should be interesting to track tomorrow.
Jolene, I spied you. :)
I’ve noticed that, too. If it’s at 57 now, that’s several notches higher than it was just this morning when I looked. And, yeah, what else could it be except that commerical? Amazing, the power of The Oprah.
(Just for you. . .If you wanna see his trajectory on AC radio this past week, I’ve got a comment on the Billboard thread. You probably follow it yourself.)
