David Cook and the Mouse

David Cook

From the Orlando Sentinal:

Reigning American Idol champion David Cook is taping segments that will be used in the upcoming attraction “The American Idol Experience,” now set to open January 2009 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A crew from Walt Disney World shot the Cook footage in Los Angeles.

Mickey looks like he’s casting an evil spell on Cookie. Talk about your evil empire, 19 ain’t got nothin’ on Disney, if you ask me.

For more about the Disney attraction, check out this article. Contestants who make it through The American Idol Experience win a Fast Pass to audition in front of an American Idol representative, rather than waiting in line at the cattle call.

My first thought: what the hell is he wearing?

Second thought: Aww look at his smile! His whole is face is lit up.

Third thought: Crap, he’s really 19Evil’s bitch now.

So true. Disney’s the strongest Cult there is LOL. And damn if I’m not taking the little spenses there in a couple of weeks. I’m pretty sure my husband and I could go to the Bahamas for 2 weeks for what it will cost for 4 days at the Evil Empire.

Disney thrives because parents are suckers.

It would be so much better if David *was* the ride :P

And yeah Disney is evil. Just evil. One viewing of Bambi should be enough to convince most folks that they really hate kids.

Parents aren’t the only suckers…I love that place! I’m planning on going back next year. Is there an age limit for the attraction? If not, I may force hubby to do it (he’s too old for Idol now), just so I can see it.

    Heh! :P

Disney evil? In so many ways… lol

I wonder if the age 14 limit @ the Disney show is the whole reason we heard rumours of AI lowering their age limit? Seeing as the article says they’ve taken “months to hammer out” a compromise. Thank goodness the Idol execs didn’t cave.

Also…gorgeous pic of Cook in that light. lol Starrlight!

It’s been said before but thanks for all you do, MJ! I’ve just returned after a month on vacation and there’s no better spot to catch up on the world of AI. :thumbup_tb:

Jason mentioned something about this in his myspace bulletin. I’m bringing the relevant part over from the JCas crack thread.

o today, i did a video shoot for the American Idol Experience coming to Disney World!!!! this thing loooks sooooo coool i am so excited! you guys have no idea, just wait until you see what this things all about. anywaysssss i need to get to work.

I think Sarah also mentioned this Disney feature to me in an email awhile back, so I think it’s been in the works for ages… long before the season ended. Sounds fun!

Is it my eyes, or is there a brown sleeve and a gray sleeve?

  10. 10 brie200 Jun 26th, 2008 at 8:42 pm

I’m pretty sure it’s not just Cook, but the Top 5. Though of course Cook might be featured more as the AI. As already posted, Jason mentioned shooting stuff yesterday in a myspace bulletin and his default myspace photo is now him rocking a pair of pirate mouse ears that he was given.

I vaguely remember hearing about this at Top 5 a little bit. I’m not exactly sure what they filmed, but it sounds fun.

No, I don’t think it’s your eyes. It looks that way to me too. Otherwise, I think the pic is cute. :D

I flove him. What does Disney want me to buy again? (call me, David)

  13. 13 pj Jun 26th, 2008 at 8:52 pm

Looks like brown and black stripes on one sleeve and black on the other sleeve, topped with a grey vest. := )

Now this is a really good pic of Mr Cook

    That’s pretty cool. :)

Yeah, Pam. It’s a great pic.

One viewing of Bambi should be enough to convince most folks that they really hate kids.

And, why is it always the mommy who has to die in a Disney movie? My son is still traumatized over the fate that befell Nemo’s mom when she met up with that shark.

Parents aren’t the only suckers…I love that place!

Oh, I love a lot of the rides - but chasing after a 4 year old kind of sucks the fun out of the experience. I liked it better before I was a parent LOL. And, I’m sure I’ll like it more again when they’re old enough for me to give them a cell phone and tell them I’ll meet them at 5:00 for dinner!

But, this coming trip? I’m expecting temper tantrums brought on by kiddie exhaustion, fights over just how many Aerial costumes one can buy in a single day and a weepy 7 year old boy who is not yet tall enough for all the things he wants to ride!

Oh yeah… the Disney connection! Cookie’s in it deep now! I wonder how he really feels about all this cheese!

  18. 18 ziggy Jun 26th, 2008 at 9:21 pm

Cookie looks good in any kind of light!!

  19. 19 KrazeeK120 Jun 26th, 2008 at 9:34 pm

And, why is it always the mommy who has to die in a Disney movie?

LOL my mom always calls Disney the mom-killers. I have to remind her that it was Simba’s father that died, not his mother.

Spenser - I second this, I practically lived there in the summers but going back with strollers and now a 10, 11 & 14 - worried everytime you turn around and they aren’t right there! Not as much fun as I remembered!!!

He does look happy, doesn’t he?

  22. 22 sleepyinsomniac Jun 26th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

    But I love Disney *hides*

On the other hand, the shirt is questionable. But the smile does seem really nice.

  23. 23 brownstarz Jun 26th, 2008 at 11:35 pm

does everything in the world have to be so cynical? lol…

Disney’s force-fed magic does work. It’s manufactured magic brings the most jaded person into a happy light in their parks.

I know, that was a cynical comment in itself. lol :P But I Love Disney too, darnit!

Judging from this photo, it looks as if David Cook seems to actually enjoy the Disney cross promotion.

It does look like a Peter Pan outfit! David Cook, captain of the Lost Boys!
He could wear a paper bag and still look awesome, though.

    “David Cook, Meet Mickey”

    How’s this for corporate synergy?

Powerhouse Disney has teamed up with the folks behind the American Idol juggernaut to bring a new attraction revolving around the glorified karaoke competition to Walt Disney World in Florida. Naturally, David Cook, A.I.’s reigning champ, is required has been asked to be a part of it.

The “Time of My Life” singer was in Los Angeles Thursday to shoot a commercial on behalf of the American Idol Experience, which is scheduled to open in January 2009.

So will you be heading down to the Sunshine State next year to get your fill of everything Idol?
