MJ- if you do decide to do a new Cook post, there are a couple of pretty new press photos:

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m REALLY loving the lyrics to Heroes and Permanentà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ and Life on the Moonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ and well, I guess everything else too, haha.

Are the full lyrics to à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Life on the Moonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ posted somewhere? Thanks. :)

Oops. I've just been listening to that snippet on repeat so much I started imagining the rest of the lyrics-- sorry! I love that snippet way too much-- I think I saw my original sentence only giving love to Heroes and Permanent and had to sneak my favorite in there, forgetting I don't know those lyrics yet!

I'm so excited about this album, it's getting ridiculous.

"Bar-ba-sol" and "Permanent" sound most intriguing. I love the rhythm of "Come Back to Me" and "I Did it for You." Now that we have lyrics, I also love the lyrics to CBTM. And that part at the beginning of the snippet really gets me: "When you find you, come back to me..." GAH! I love it.

"Mr. Sensitive" should be interesting. I'm also thinking "Lie" will be a tearjerker. I wasn't as taken by "Life on the Moon" and "Heroes" as most other people here were, but that could easily change with the full songs.

I wonder if the full album will turn up for streaming next week, like Archie's has...

More publicity is coming. One site said that in November he'd be "everywhere." I imagine that they wanted to give some time to let the election get past, and then we'll be seeing him a lot. Which, you know, I won't mind.

I looooooooooooooooooooooove it!!!

I was feeling so-so with his Light On release... it kinda burst my happy DC bubble when I didn't feel his LO song.... but even though I heard only 30sec snippets from each song--- I am back!

Will definitely buy his album

Hmm... I just feel that DC is not getting much publicity. Sometimes, you produce a great album but if you don't get the publicity or right amount of marketing---it all goes down the drain.

MJ, did you ever post the leak of RCA's press release of the album? It was posted at D-C.org. http://www.david-cook.org/index.php?showtopic=15363&st=0&gopid=492948& \ entry492948

Here's an excerpt:

" à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I went on Idol with a five-card hand and showed three of my cards,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Cook says. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Now ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s time to put down the other two. Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a lot I havenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t shown the world, just as far as who I am and what Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m about. I have several layers as an artist and those layers are out there on this record. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see myself ever writing an autobiography; Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m just going to let the music speak for itself.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

And it does à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬' loud and clear. David Cook is a statement-making album, filled with bold, keenly felt songs that showcase Cookà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s powerful vocal chops and considerable songwriting talent, as well as the versatility that made him a star on Idol. The first single à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Light On,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ with its Southern rock vibe, is light years away from the gut-wrenching ballad à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Permanent,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ which couldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be more different than the swaggering shredder à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Bar-Ba-Sol.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ....(snip)

.....à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We recorded à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Permanentà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ in two takes and everyone in the room was crying,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Cook recalls. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I actually had to leave at one point because it was so emotional. As a musician, any time you can create something where the end result is exactly whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s in your head, well thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a heaviness to that moment and it overwhelmed me. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve been writing songs for ten years and that was the first time Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d felt it. I think thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s an honesty throughout the record that culminates in that song.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ .....(snip)

.....It shouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be too tough given that Cook will be performing the songs on his debut album. Gutsy and epic, but grounded in the personal, the songs are tailor-made for those magical moments when music, whether it be uplifting or heart-breaking, can transport you to another place, which is exactly what Cook intended. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I want my album to be an exhausting experience, in that you listen to it and have to take a breath to collect yourself, and immediately need to listen to it all over again,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ he says. "

mj - One person who heard the album have said that the 30 second snippets don't really do the songs justice and don't necessarily reflect the overall vibe of the songs. I think Zephyr11 mentioned that the songs have interesting intros that we're not hearing in the snippets. I haven't seen any other comments, but I can't say I spend a lot of time on the fan sites.

After reading the lyrics, I'm really impressed that RCA supported David writing such highly personal songs, particularly about the whole Idol experience. I certainly never thought I'd hear anything like "Bar-ba-sol" or "Mr. Sensitive" on an Idol album. I can already smell the "Archie is the real winner" stuff in the air, but I'm really happy that David (seemingly) got to make the album he wanted to make.

It must have been pretty amazing for David to write a song like "Permanent" with his own idol. I wonder what the third Raine Maida co-write is?

mj – One person who heard the album have said that the 30 second snippets don’t really do the songs justice and don’t necessarily reflect the overall vibe of the songs. I think Zephyr11 mentioned that the songs have interesting intros that we’re not hearing in the snippets. I haven’t seen any other comments, but I can’t say I spend a lot of time on the fan sites.

After reading the lyrics, I’m really impressed that RCA supported David writing such highly personal songs, particularly about the whole Idol experience. I certainly never thought I’d hear anything like “Bar-ba-sol” or “Mr. Sensitive” on an Idol album. I can already smell the “Archie is the real winner” stuff in the air, but I’m really happy that David (seemingly) got to make the album he wanted to make.

The lyrics have been making the rounds at fan sites. There are one or two fans with industry connections who have been able to hear the whole album and one of them thoughtfully transcribed the lyrics for many of the songs. I'm not sure that anyone has the official lyrics yet.

I know nothing about how that site works...I'm enjoying reading these lyrics though! Thanks!

You're very welcome sma11ie. It sure took a LONG time for anyone to comment here at MJ's that there were some lyrics posted. I was getting lonely. :mad_tb:

So I had to take up residence in the David Archuleta on-line album streaming thread in order to have some company. :lol_tb:

So heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not doing my favourites: Life On The Moon, Come Back To Me, Mr Sensitive, A Daily Anthem, Permanent?

Well, at least heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s doing my OTHER favourites: Bar-ba-sol, Lie, Heroes, Declaration and LO.

When is he going to do all the REST of my favourites: I Did It For You, Avalanche, and (yes, everybody say it together) Magic Rainboowwww!!!

Bahahaha, daenarys you are hilarious, but soooo right, cuz that's me too (okay, except maybe the Rainbow)! I think my only early reservation was the phrasing of Permanent in the snippet, but now, I love it. And then it was Come Back to Me that I felt was maybe a bit generic, but I read the lyrics (btw, THANK YOU wordnerdarchie) and now I'm on board with that as well! WOW, so excited for the Walmart Soundcheck! Also the intel we'll inevitably get from the Wright Thing. This record is going to rock!

Wow, I really love the lyrics for Lie, Bar-ba-Sol and Permanent. I think a lot of people are going to connect to Lie - it had me dwelling on a college relationship that I still insist should not have ended (uh, don't tell my husband). I can see David performing Permanent on Idol Gives Back in April.

Bar-ba-Sol is just awesome - I'm glad it's about Idol and not shaving cream.

Seriously loving that lineup so much right now. Heroes, Lie and Bar-ba-sol are 3 of my favorites from the snippets, Declaration is my favorite full song (sorry LO). I think this is going to be one amazing set.
BTW - it's up on the 15th.

Oh, and there is the David Wright event on the 12th, and I do believe we might get some new songs out of that one as well.
