the media want THEY CRAVE the big sob story about his brother but he just won’t bite WTG DAVID COOK!! by not talking about and turning the situation into a media circus, i can feel the love and respect you have for your brother and your family

    !!

    Wow, Cookie looks sleepy!

I loved how he politely avoided talking about Adam.

And what other AI winner can use the word “homage” where it sounds as smooth has honey dripping off of his tongue?

They asked him about the “AC” on his guitar…did I miss something, or was that new “AC” lettering on his ax last night when he was singing/playing with ZZ Top? Anyone know the story behind that, or is it just a different guitar than what we’ve been seeing?

  4. 4 GwendolynD May 22nd, 2008 at 10:54 am

They got new guitars from Luna, a guitar company. David’s had to be specially designed because he’s a lefty. The artwork is a new “AC”, and his personal design from the cover of “Analog Heart”.

  5. 5 CJ May 22nd, 2008 at 10:56 am

Thanks, Gwendolyn. I knew I had missed something. It’s a gorgeous guitar!

  6. 6 GwendolynD May 22nd, 2008 at 11:04 am

I actually hadn’t noticed that it was the new one until you mentioned it. Cool. :)

  7. 7 Cindy May 22nd, 2008 at 11:05 am

    Aw, congrats to Cook!
Hopefully he’ll get some sleep soon! :]

  8. 8 jersey May 22nd, 2008 at 11:12 am

He looks sleepy because he was on the same show earlier this morning and he said he has yet to sleep. I’m sure he was up early yesterday, too - so basically he’s been up for more than 24 hours at this point. Yikes!

Welcome to the MediaDome, Mr. Cook. Two men enter, one man drops from exhaustion.

  10. 10 RollTide May 22nd, 2008 at 11:25 am

Thanks for the vids, MJ. It’s nice to know if I miss these shows, I can still come here and see Cookie. I hope he gets some rest. He looks exhausted, bless his heart. LOL at that reporter, Courtney saying “Look at him!” :)

I also have the utmost respect for David with his answer to the questions concerning Adam. Forceful but polite! I have said since day one that David was a class act. He just gets more humble but more and more confident as he progressed thru this whole circus. Being the best friend of his aunt makes me feel a tinge more pride. Who am I kidding I have a extreme amount of pride in David. He is amazing. He will be BIG and will stand the test of time. I really forsee him having the longevity as say Bob Seger”, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, or even Steven Tyler.

OH MY GOD was this posted yet? Cookie’s Disney World winning moment ad?

    Disney World

You will also hear him sing When You Wish Upon a Star, and it’s hauntingly beautiful. He really can sing anything.

    Crying again!

  13. 13 GwendolynD May 22nd, 2008 at 11:45 am

“Adam’s good. Thank you for asking.” Next question! Very smooth, Mr. Cook. My gut tells me he’s going to be fending that question off quite a bit.

You know what I love most about this, and about the coronation song as well? That for monthes now, people have been saying that DC won’t win because he couldn’t do well on the coronation song and Disney gig.
They were really selling him short. The man can do anything. Including making songs with lyrics about “magic rainbows” listenable.

You’re probably right, but I really hope that most of the interviewers show more restraint and class than that guy did. How obnoxious!

i got goosebumps watching that Disney thing

  18. 18 catwood720 May 22nd, 2008 at 12:26 pm

    I can’t see the Disney thing :cry_wp:

For those who asked about the AC on his guitar… Cookie said in an interview or something that he always puts his brother’s initials on everything for good luck… so AC stands for the initials of both of his brothers, Adam and Andrew Cook.

BTW… SO HAPPY HE WON AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!!!!!

  21. 21 RollTide May 22nd, 2008 at 1:28 pm

That Disney commercial is awesome! Thanks so much for posting the link. :)

One of my friends was in Blue Springs last night, and she said she heard fireworks outside after he won. :)

  22. 22 IGetCranked May 22nd, 2008 at 1:45 pm

What a great guy. These interviews are all going to be a pleasure to watch.

  23. 23 ealbino May 22nd, 2008 at 4:13 pm

Congratulations to David Cook and to the cookies for making him the American Idol and No. 1 on all of ITUNES at this moment.

  24. 24 skylight1219 May 22nd, 2008 at 4:20 pm

What a great guy. Even though I’m a Castro fan, I’m so glad Cook won. And, kudos to Archuleta for his run on AI. He’ll do just fine as well.

  25. 25 Jovi May 22nd, 2008 at 4:21 pm

OMG!! I LOVE that Disney commercial, how awesome. I would love an MP3 of the whole song if he ever does it.

Why can’t I make links purty? *sigh*

  27. 27 SpenserJ May 22nd, 2008 at 4:52 pm

Okay - the Disney commercial really is fantastic. And, I’m really impressed with how well David holds up to the reporters’ questions on no freaking sleep whatsoever.

  28. 28 CJ May 22nd, 2008 at 5:11 pm

@Lisa - Thanks so much for the link to the video about the guitars! WOW! They are all gorgeous! Now I know why Syesha commented to an interviewer last night that she was going to learn to play guitar. Cookie’s guitar is freakin’ awesome! I was glad to be able to see the design up close.

  29. 29 Layla May 22nd, 2008 at 5:49 pm

I’ll say thanks too Lisa…really enjoyed seeing DC’s new guitar up close and personal…beautiful!

  30. 30 Layla May 22nd, 2008 at 5:51 pm

I’ve been all over the net reading his interviews and just soaking up his win! He interviews like an old pro. I really do love him…he’s so charming.

Totally respect how he deals with his older brother’s illness to the press.

  31. 31 Michelle May 22nd, 2008 at 6:03 pm

Great interviews, thanks MJ! Loved the end of the first vid where the the guys at the studio were talking about his future success and the chick reporter on location’s all “Duh, look at him! ::drool::” :laugh_tb:

A reporter from my local Fox affiliate was at the press roundup this morning and happened to be able to chat with both of them. They both looked TIRED but still very gracious and articulate. Archie’s getting better at the whole interview thing, I think DC is rubbing off on him :)

  32. 32 ziggy May 22nd, 2008 at 6:13 pm

I thought I was done crying–

but the Disney commercial just put me over the edge — again.

Is there anything DC can’t sing?

David Cook you are the real, real deal!!!!

  33. 33 weelassie May 22nd, 2008 at 6:30 pm

    Lisa
thanks for posting the link about the guitars. that was really interesting. glad we got to see two of those show up during the show. awesome.

  34. 34 Hisaki May 22nd, 2008 at 7:53 pm

Oh wow, major props to Cookie for not dropping down dead on his interviewers from exhaustion. But yes, he needs sleep. Lots and lots and lots of it.

…seriously, I think DC is the only person right now who could make a sappy Disney ballad completely easy and repeat-worthy on my ears.

  35. 35 bethanysuzanne May 22nd, 2008 at 10:45 pm

Wow, I am just so continually and progressively…..does that make sense:), impressed with Cook. I was first and foremost a Jason fan, but can honestly say, the best man, at least for this kind of BIG time competition, won! He will handle the interview circuit SO amazingly well! Can you imagine what it must be like to have a quiet moment to yourself, and just go “WOW, my whole life has just changed!”, surreal, I can’t even imagine! GO COOK!!!!!…and Jason and Archie and Brooke, hehe:) I’d love albums from all of them!

  36. 36 catwood720 May 23rd, 2008 at 12:06 am

Thanks for the YouTube link Gwendolyn, I was dying to see that! Loved it :o)
