David Cook – Honest When You’re Sleeping – VIDEO
David Cook, performing at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Clair, sings a song from the unreleased indie album he was working on when he auditioned for Idol. It’s called “Honest When You’re Sleeping”
Great melody. I like it!

We are seeing a lot of that hat lately…I was thinking that maybe he got a bad haircut.
I dig the song!
I don’t know… could be.
In the concert before this one he didn’t wear the hat though.
As for CBTM I think it’s the best choice. Even if my personal favorite is Lie, I think CBTM is more radio ready, and it’s not as slow tempo. Good to have news on that side.
Ugh, I want that unreleased album SO MUCH.
I like the use of lying here, especially juxtaposed to the word honest. Sorry, I’m a writer so I’m delighted at the verbal gymnastics DC employs.
Epic hit!
Where did the hair plug rumors come from? Because he wore hats a lot prior to going on Idol. I really think he just loves to accessorize, LOL.
I love this song
the pre-idol cook is a sure win
WOW, loved it – even on crappy quality youtube sound! I can pick up the hook in the chorus just in one listen. WANT. THAT. ALBUM. SOOOOOOO. BAD.
David, please play Eta Carinae???
And Kyle going nuts in the background – you can tell he loves this song too.
That sounds like a really great song. Hopefully that will show up on his next album. I love idols who actually have a backlog of material prepared to play on the road.
LOL about the hair comments. I think he is just being a guy. He doesn’t have a sylist with him at all times like when he was on idol, so instead of fussing, he throws on a cap. Most guys aren’t into fussing with their hair. I have 6 nephews and they all resort to the hats, especially in the winter. I am just happy there is a new single. Yay! Also, love the song WOHWWS. Thanks for pointing that out Hypertwink. Very cool!
Ditto. And the juxtaposition of sleeping/wide awake as well. I am a big fan of his love of symbolism and metaphorical lyrics, too. I am so stoked for this concert in May!
This. The juxtapostion of his lyrics vs. the lyrical content of “LO” and “CBTM” is so jarring. I think he’s so lyrically superior to his two “hit factory” singles. I just love this song. I really, really hope that his next record is ALL him.
And I need to hear every other unreleased song from this mystery album. What a lost treasure this is turning out to be.
