    Gettin’ better ‘n’ better.

LOL @ Hilary having her friends vote for David. Heeeeee. Ummm…cougar?

  2. 2 lovegoodmusic Nov 19th, 2008 at 10:39 am

Thank you sharing MJ. I also thought it was hilarious when Hilalry asked her friends to vote for him.

Now its the numbers, and I’m just wondering how what his total album sales will be.

Nice interview! ( Really funny too :D) Fantastic performance!

  4. 4 leome Nov 19th, 2008 at 10:40 am

Hillary asked people to vote for him during the capaign? That must be the most hilarious Idol related thing I’ve heard.

He sounds pretty amazing. This is my version yet. He finally NAILED the low part after the bridge.

Boyfriend sounded hot this morning on Kelly and Regis. Went to I-tunes to see where the new CD is this morning. Still number 1 overall and rock. Interestingly enough only Mr. Sensitive isn’t in the top 75 of rock songs. Here is the run down as of 9:45 Wednesday morning Central time.

    #11 Declaration
    #17 Permanent
    #19 Come Back to Me
    #25 Lie
    #31 Heroes
    #37 A Daily AntheM
#38 I Did It For You
    #39 Light On
    #52 Bar-Ba-Sol
    #56 Life on the Moon
    #64 Avalanche
    #75 Time of My Life

Pretty cool. I wish he could sing one of the others on television, but they are obviously still pushing Light On. Mr. Sensitive, the only one not to make the list is one of my favorites. I hope it will find an audience too.

Damn that sounded good!!! They rawk as a band.

  8. 8 ItsMeRenee Nov 19th, 2008 at 11:07 am

“some random dude with a guitar starts walking down the aisle”

Where do I get one of those?

  9. 9 elisad Nov 19th, 2008 at 11:10 am

Aww he’s so cute and funny.

Great interview and performance of Light On. I noticed they played a little snippet of Come Back to Me after the interview. I’ve been noticing that CBTM seems to have a life of its own. It went up to #13 yesterday on Amazon’s MP3 Downloads, now #21 and, as shown above, #19 on Rock iTunes (#112 overall iTunes). It’s the only song up at the top that has no radio play. Also, this is without live performances of the song by David anywhere. All of the other top ranking songs have been performed live a number of times. The main exposure was the diss by NPR when they gave the song some airtime in their review yesterday.

Maybe this song is being considered to be one of the next singles. I think it would kill - probably be way more successful than Light On is.

  11. 11 elisad Nov 19th, 2008 at 11:28 am

Well, yeah. I don’t mind the NPR dissing at all, that’s free promotion~! They played the songs anyway, the audience could judge for themselves. Since I only listen to radio for news shows(actually only Rachel Maddow’s show), I’m really happy NPR “reviewed” the album~

  12. 12 Keel Nov 19th, 2008 at 11:36 am

The NPR review was kind of hilarious. They kept on playing all these long, awesome clips of songs from the album, with voiceovers about how the album sucked. Talk about cognitive dissonance.

By the way, ShariG, Mr. Sensitive is also one of my favorites. It starts out all soft and then totally rocks out at the end but it’s never forced. Awesome song, but I can understand why it’s not making the top downloads; the 30s clip didn’t quite grab me either and I didn’t realize what an great song it was until I heard the whole thing.

  13. 13 Sarah Nov 19th, 2008 at 11:40 am

I’m really happy NPR “reviewed” the album~

I was also surprised and ok with it when I heard the NPR review come on while I stirred some pasta. It wasn’t a great review, but I was surprised they even gave it the time of day. They could have ignored it, and they could have chosen not to play all the snippets that they did. So there was a definite upside! And NPR and Cook must share a certain important demographic!

David and the band sounded great!

Hilary having her friends vote for David. Heeeeee. Ummm…cougar?

    I’m afraid so. :laugh_tb:

  15. 15 cookcricket Nov 19th, 2008 at 12:00 pm

Great job David and band!!! I agree with everyone else, it just gets better and better! I still believe LO may show some endurance with time!

The interview was great and very funny as well! Methinks Regis is impressed with DC and Kelly is smitten…

ShariG, :bye_tb:(hi), in response to downloads for “Mr. Sensitive” (and I might add the Shaving Cream song, hee), I’m thinking/guessing that those who are lovin’ on these songs will simply download the entire album.????

  16. 16 CathyMK Nov 19th, 2008 at 12:16 pm

Fun interview. I can’t believe he had to pull out his standard tour response (7/1-9/13) one more time. LOL Regis seemed a bit out of it today. Great story about the Secret Service. Maybe he’ll have his people warn the SS guys beforehand next time he does a surprise show for a former First Lady. :smile2_ee:

That NPR review was one of those funny ones. Seemed like someone there must like David, and made the reviewer do the story. So, the review is contradictory (he’s overwrought, but not hard enough rock at the same time- huh? Aren’t hard rock vocals always emotional?) and they play his music along with it. Definitely fit into Cookie’s “Another American Idol Album- 2 1/2 Stars” category.

  17. 17 kathrynTX Nov 19th, 2008 at 12:23 pm

WOOHOO! *holds up light-on light without burning thumb* Is the sound system on Regis & Kelly just better than some others or something? I thought even those backup vocals sounded better than ever. YAY Hillary getting her friends to vote for David! LOLOL! And him saying “Sorry!” was HI-larious.

Everyone sounded good here, especially considering it was an “edited” version of the song. More Neal, please. okthxbye.

  18. 18 Sarah Nov 19th, 2008 at 12:29 pm

I actually got to watch the show when it aired, and the first thing I noticed was that next to Regis and Kelly, David looks like a giant — and I’m so used to him not being the biggest guy in the room! He was sweet and adorable, of course.

  19. 19 Hazehel Nov 19th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

movin2thabeet, I also think Come Back To Me would make a good single, it’s the kind of the songs that play well on the radio while driving. Heroes, Life On The Moon, Bar-Bar-Sol, and Lie would also make good singles, any one of those can do well as a follow-up single. I thought Permanent is the best song on the album but actually I notice that I don’t play it that often, it’s a song that’s just too personal and intense to make a good single.

  20. 20 Michelle Nov 19th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

in response to downloads for “Mr. Sensitive” (and I might add the Shaving Cream song, hee), I’m thinking/guessing that those who are lovin’ on these songs will simply download the entire album.????

Yes! I choose that story and will stick to it (as one of those who peg BBS and Mr. S as among my faves.)

Sarah that’s the first thing that struck me when David sat down with R&K — man, Regis is tiny!

Hilarious about Hillary campaigning for DC, “you cost her the election!” and the Secret Service guys having no clue what was going on at the Glamour awards.

Which performance night was it when Kelly said DC was really sick?

  21. 21 elisad Nov 19th, 2008 at 1:05 pm

Which performance night was it when Kelly said DC was really sick?

I think it’s Happy Together, or maybe All Right Now…hmm I donno.

    Zac Maloy blogs about David

Funny thing is that David is from Tulsa (well really he’s from Kansas City, well Blue Springs…hell I dunno where he’s from but he lived here in Tulsa for a bit).

As much as I’d like to think I’m a huge fan…I don’t know where he’s from either…But I never care about this kind of thing.

  22. 22 Hazehel Nov 19th, 2008 at 1:12 pm

Must have been the Little Sparrow one, he was taken to hospital with heart palpitations that night.

    Zac Maloy blogs about David

Thanks, Zac seems like a cool guy.

We also did some co-writing with my friends Espionage. Espionage is a writing/production duo* from Norway (Norway is also home of Ah-Ha, Vikings (formerly) and the famous painting, The Scream).

*Other notable duos: Batman and Robin; Captain and Tennille; Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; Laurel and Hardy; Salt and Pepper; Lennon and McCartney; license and registration; Hall and Oates; Salt-n-Pepa.

LOL at license and registration. I’m gonna have to check out more of his stuff, since the three songs he co-wrote were pretty awesome– especially Lie, I flove that song so much I wanna have its babies… did I just say that. :redface_wp:

  24. 24 Jolene Nov 19th, 2008 at 1:54 pm

This was a great interview and a great performance.
I’m actually starting to like LO live more than I do LO recorded.
BTW - David is still #1 on iTunes, and on Amazon he is #1 and #2 respectively on the CD and mp3 charts.

  25. 25 Keel Nov 19th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

“Which performance night was it when Kelly said DC was really sick?”

    [hangs head in shame]
I think it was “All Right Now” night when David was really sick (bronchitis) and Kelly visited the set of AI. There’s a pic of him in the back of the room where Kelly is being photographed with a bunch of other Idols, and he was wearing the shirt he wore for ARN.
[/retreats shamefaced from thread due to encyclopedic knowledge of all things DC]

  26. 26 Jolene Nov 19th, 2008 at 2:27 pm

Ooh, joining in on the “follow-up single” question - I want Declaration and Lie to come out as singles, and I don’t really care which one comes out first. Has it not been established that Declaration is the next single? I don’t know why, but I got the impression it was pretty much a done deal.
Come Back to Me could work as a single, but it’s one of my least favorite songs on the album, and David didn’t write it. I’d prefer if the album was promoted using his songs.

  27. 27 wordnerdarchie Nov 19th, 2008 at 5:40 pm

Must have been the Little Sparrow one, he was taken to hospital with heart palpitations that night.

Sorry, but Little Sparrow Night was not the one being referenced by Kelly Ripa. Little Sparrow was another instance where he had medical issues (Another bout of bronchitis and blood pressure spike.)

There was a picture posted with Kelly Ripa and DC on another board which is obviously taken from an earlier week, based on his hair part and style. I agree with Keel that it was ARN (top 20), and the following week (Hello) he was still recovering from it. (Hello was the week he needed a kleenex when receiving his critique from the judges… :smile_wp:)

That boy performed many times on Idol and on tour when he was “under the weather”, and avoided mentioning it on camera. Get that guy some vitamin C and “stat”.

  28. 28 colette Nov 20th, 2008 at 11:53 am

This for me is the best song from the album. Or maybe it just helps to see him peform live…..
