KOTN is pretty popular with DC fans as well, but since it’s a hidden track on the record, it’s generally assumed it wouldn’t be in contention for a single.

Heh, well, I absolutely adore it too so… mileage, I guess . I think it is a gorgeous song, even better when he sings it live. I wouldn’t think Kiss On the Neck will get released, it’s a hidden track on the album.

I know he’s scheduling dates with the Script for December, but a tiny part of me holds out hope that there’s a new single yet (yes, the tiny tiny stubborn part), and that December will be filled with radio shows to promote said single. Seriously though, acoustic Avalanche…guh. First, there’s the song. Not only is it pretty, it’s also sexy. It’s just one of those kind of acoustic-y ballads that pulls off both moods simultaneously, you know? Like DMB’s Crash Into Me, or John Mayer’s Body Is A Wonderland. I think it’s the carry me down rolling in your arms part that gets me….. Anyway, then there’s the performance, and the song is definitely enhanced by the just Dave and his guitar effect.

Speaking of… on the plugged in vs. acoustic discussion….I think it’s a matter of what serves the song best. I can’t imagine acoustic Honest, for example, being better than the full band version. I Did It For You also benefits from the full band and then some for obvious reasons (see vid above), as does Mr. Sensitive with the kickass, um, well, guitar spanking, for lack of a better term, that Dave has adapted recently. Conversely, with Avalanche and LOTM I prefer the stripped down unplugged versions…the sparser instrumentation really adds to the vibe of the tunes. And my favorite version of Lie is the one that has evolved from the live performances recently, combining the band and the a capella. So yeah, for certain songs, I agree it would be beneficial to add a mini-acoustic set. Best of both worlds kind of concert experience. Now come back to Florida, dammit. I’d even be okay with whole band playing the accordion if it meant another Florida date. Okay, maybe polka Bar Ba Sol not so much, but still, one DeTour concert is not enough. ~pouts~

For the last tour date: don’t know whether to hope there’s an ‘official’  one so there can be an epic last night (with YouTubey), or not so the great travelling Cook show can go on.
I mean, I want him working on the second album, but many months w/o new music DNW!!! Deluxe album with all those cool numbers that have been done on tour but not on the first record would help salve the pain.

I now know…that DC’s voice can still make my heart leap. The high note he hit in that performance of “Permanent” moved me more than anything Glambert’s wailed all season….

Most likely 11/20 is not the last day of the Declaration Tour. DC is supposed to tour with The Script November/December. New dates usually come out about 1 month prior to shows, so I’m assuming there will be more dates past 11/20 that were just not announced yet. If 11/20 is the last date, it will be a concert not to be missed. Glad I have my tickets already.

Of all the many different changed versions of songs David has done so brilliantly, this is one he left the same (this version was a remake done by Bon Jovi themselves on their Crossroads album). I remember when he did it for his audition, immediately shot out of my seat and said ‘this kid is a superstar waiting to happen!’ And now here he is, well on his way.

Simply beautiful, I kept expecting someone from the band or maybe even audience to sing the harmony part that Richie Sambora does on the original acoustic version, no one did, but it just made me appreciate David’s massive talent all the more as he would periodically do just enough of the harmony that I could hear both harmony and melody in my head.

Thanks for sharing this, it was beautiful.

David Cook rocks… but I appreciate the beautiful soul he also can show on these acoustic stylings.

Ack! They just keep getting better and better. I’ve only seen DC once, and I really really wanna see him again, especially if they’re integrating more acoustic.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve only seen DC once and it is not close to being enough. Oh well, at least I Cookified a good friend the one time I went. She said she’d never heard his music, couldn’t really understand the lyrics, but she liked the tunes. She also was highly entertained by the guy behind us who apparently knew all the words to every.single.song. (FTR, he wasn’t loud but he clearly knew the words. Hee.) But yeah, I’m really jealous of the peeps who got to hear Acoustic!Dave — especially acoustic MiTB.
