David Cook’s new single will be released next week. That, according to Rickey.org, who hosted a cell cert from today’s Ford Day performance featuring David Cook and David Archuleta, where Cook divulged the information to a fan.
I told you guys in this post it would be the end of September! So much for David Cook’s declaration by the buses that the single would drop mid-October.
The single is called “Light On”.
At today’s Ford Day luncheon, David Cook performed “The World I Know”, “Hello” and “The Time of My Life” David Archuleta performed “Angels”, “Imagine” and his single “Crush”.
ETA: Remember this item? The Kansas City Fox reported that David Cook would be appearing in Kansas City to promote his album in November. According to a source, there was a screw-up on the official DC site that made it look like he was making live appearances to promote the album. It was a technical glitch à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ the dates shown, which were plotted on a map, were actually the Idol tour dates…
I’ll link to cellcasts but I refuse to listen to them…or host them. To me the crappy quality make it not worth the time or investment.
I did a few during Season 5 and the quality was so bad, it sounded like some sort of alien transmission, rather than a concert. LOL. Kirsten can attest to that…

Now, now, MJ. We know that wasn’t always true. Ah, how well I remember the MJ cellcert from a certain after-concert. The sound quality had never been worse. It sounded like aliens had invaded and were torturing people and animals and vacuum cleaners and fax machines. IT was awful and painful to listen to. But, back then, we combined posting with chatting and we had a fun time. We pretended we could really here thing and reported all sorts of psychotic things (from Bucky singing Whitney’s “Greatest Love of All” to Elliott playing the bagpipes. Xenu himself showed up and we wrote Scientologis Christmas Carols). I think we even managed to get some of our stuff reported on other sites.

Technically, cellcerts are insane. Cell Phone CODEC is not designed to transmit music. It’s optimized for voice, so you start off behind the 8-ball (lots get lost in the compression).
Is he new? LOL. Yes, he should have known this would spread like wild fire. Possibly somebody asked him the name of his single and he heard something different and responded “Right On!”

That particular cell cast was hilarious and fun, but I don’t think we heard one note of recognizable music. Those cellcerts were a lot of work for little return, at least musically. I pretty much made a decision after the S5 tour to leave the cellcasts to the fan boards…

EEEEEEEEEEEE! Hope so hope so hope so! I’ve been talking all week to people who are fans but not quite as obsessed as I am, updating them…so I’ve been watching watching reading reading. Guh I just cannot WAIT for more music, for new music, from Cook! It will all come out when it comes out, I know, but the sooner the better. I’m trying to be patient but I get SO EXCITED! Light On. Hmmmmmmmmmm. OK I have to calm down now. I swear, I’m not reading anything else except his website. Sheesh. I’m gonna have a heart attack here.

I wonder how rock the new single will be… If they’ll go for something softer to ease the AI fans into the new phase, or go the direct opposite to show David’s solo career will be quite different than AI and TOML.
Well, if Obama couldn’t do it, I don’t guess we can expect DC’s luck to be much better.

In Rolling Stone’s Fall Music Guide it mentions he recorded a previously unreleased Chris Cornell song, so is it a coincidence CC recorded a song called Light On?
Brian Howe is the writer if this is the same song. Brian has worked with Daughtry so it makes sense.

How do you know Brian Howe is the writer? There is a connection there to Brian, but It doesn’t say he’s the writer.
I listened to a few cellcasts this season and it did sound like it was being transmitted from outerspace with the odd sound coming now and then and all scratchy sounding. They were for the most part pretty bad and not worth the time listening to them.
