This interview was so much better than the Today show one!!!! He did a great Brit impression-his theater background no doubt. He has honestly made me love this rainbow song-NEVER that that would happen.
He really worked the crowd here. Nice cross-section of fans represented-hopefully this will stop that Cougar shit which is so tacky.
Another good interview. The English accent was very good. It sounded like Nigel right until the end when there was a hint of Cornish farmer! Oh to be on that NYC Sightseeing bus….
This is the most relaxed performance of this song I’ve seen him sing yet and it was great. He interacted well with the crowd, made the sightseers day, and probably gave that girl whose hand he took a serious thrill.
I found a clip of the soundcheck (which made me slightly seasick to watch), I wish I could make out what he was saying throughout it. Seemed like a good crowd.
LOL, loved puttin’ on the accent. Yes psnax, there was a bit of that west country accent. I lived in the UK twice and loved the different accents over there.
I’ll be glad when the media hoopla settles down and the work on the music begins. I am still waiting for a more serious interview about their respective musical thoughts, goals, etc.
Finally, David tried to tell the story in a different way. Even his audition story is not exact the same copy of the previous many interviews (no 5:30am, rainy day stuff). So, way to go, Cook! And yes, we are freaks, following all your interviews and know which words you used for a particular question.
The girl whose hand DC took should be singing “Time of my Life” instead :-).
Thank you thank you thank you mj!! What would I do without your video clips?! I tried to set up the tivo early in the week to catch all the interviews/performances, but I missed this one (and the M&J show which didn’t record for some reason). But I know I can always come here to catch up!
Is this the last of the crazy press tour? Maybe that’s why seems so much more relaxed.
Who knew we could love a song about magic rainbows so much?? wow.
Love the Nigel imitation!!! And I agree with you CooksCookie… the danged magic rainbow song is actually growing on me…
Its probably not the worst of the Idol songs we’ve heard. They are all so predictable, but Cookie seems to make this his own enough to make it palatable.
I loved this interview better than the others also. For one he didn’t have to share the stage with David Archuleta. I mean Cook did win did he not?
Also, very touching moment that I caught before the break and before he sang when he was squatted down talking to a child around 5 yrs old who was bald. I assumed the child probably had cancer. He was talking to the child and signed something for him and I heard David tell the kid he thought he was really awesome.
Yes, and there were all women of all ages swooning over him. This cougar bait thing is getting old to me also. They make it sound like only old dames like him. Not True!!
AInoob: thans for that link. It’s so nice to see him like that-all relaxed. Hope he is off to Missouri to see mom and family- I think he needs that now.
ON Sirius Radio this morning a question was asked about Randy and Simon and David said “If Ryan wasn’t so busy he is the type of guy he (David) would like to sit down and have a beer with” Then he said that he thinks both Randy and Simon have a mutal respect for each other and secretively wish they were each other in some aspects. He then said “there I said it on live radio.” LOL then a female said she has a thing for earlobes and asked if she could touch his earlobe. David said OK, she did and said wow, very meaty. David said that is the first time anyone ever said my earlobes were meaty.
Too me it seems that all the attention David Cook is getting from fan’s and such is still a shock to him. I don’t think in his heart of hearts he gets why he is so popular.
Best performance of this song by a mile! Def. seemed relaxed and looked oh-so-cute! Loved that he said things we haven’t heard before and the Nigel impression was great!
Just.Love.Him. And not sick of him yet…
David said that is the first time anyone ever said my earlobes were meaty.
He is just so AMAZING! Go Cookie! I hope his whirlwind press tour is wrapping up and he can go relax. Hopefully with family and friends away from the LA scene for awhile…
I still am not quite getting the whole cougar thing.
I am in my twenties; am I a cougar?
On david-cook.org, the members celbrating birthdays today are turning 19. This week, the oldest age of a member having a birthday was 26, the youngest 12.
I’m not saying that Cookie doesn’t have fans “of a certain age” but that is just one section of his fan base.
Ah well, I suppose it isn’t any different from the “Only women like Chris Daughtry” and “Only old men like Carrie Underwood” statements of the past (and sometimes present).
In the end, all that matters is the sales and Cookie is off to a fine start.
ETA: TOML is back up to #2 on itunes, behind Coldplay.
What started the whole “Cougar” thing was the goofball who had the “Cougars for Cook” sign in the audience. I’m not sure what week of the competition it was. Anyway, that just a section of his fan base, I believe. The audience at the Early Show was pretty widespread, age- and sex- wise. His appeal seems to be pretty broad.
OH WOW! I cannot believe this but my daughter just told me she heard TOML on the radio here in NY a little while ago! She said WPLJ which is a pretty popular station played it. Color me very, very shocked. Now I’m going to have to keep an ear peeled.
Trina, PLJ also had him on air, albeit briefly, twice this week, I think. I’m not sure if Z100 will fit it into their playlist (even though Greg T did the piggyback thing outside the Today Show) but I can see it on PLJ. I haven’t heard it yet though, but I have e-mailed requests to both stations :)
I have yet to hear TOML on the stations here (Providence and we get Mix FM out of Boston). They are big on all things Idol, as MJ has stated, so it is probably just a matter of time.
Re: Cookie’s fanbase. It is definitely not just women over 30. Of course, I am a woman in my thirties, but my kids like him (9 and 7) and my husband and in-laws in their 60s. Honestly, I have yet to hear from anyone that doesn’t like him, even if they prefer somebody else.
Silver is as monochromatic as any other color standing alone and repeated or used with like hues of same and in various textures, etc, lol (is that a run-on sentence?), lol
He did look more relaxed and today. He’s in very good voice today, too. The time change is a killer. He’s probably up for the day at 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. California time to get ready for these early shows. It takes several days to get acclimated.
yeps…soon as I heard about it I dashed over to Amazon and ordered it with a big grin on my face. The way it’s moving up the charts there it will be number 1 before he even heads into the studio!
Was he not hot (literally) in that outfit? It was something like 70 here in the morning today.
But anyway, that does seem to be the most relaxed performance of ToML he’s done since being on the show. It’s nice to see him starting to adjust to this all.
*swooning at work* that he can make me love this song is awesome lol
I saw this when it aired this morning. It was lovely as always. I loved the Nigel imitation.
Nice interview…new info, which is always good. Great Nigel impression, too.
In retrospect, he was a little looser in this interview compared to others. On M & J, he seemed a little uptight, IMO.
Oh my gosh. The English accent.
WordNerds - “monochromatic” :)

I could listen to that voice all day swooonn!

Best performance of this song so far - great voice, lots of interpretation. So funny that I actually like this song lol.
That was some old style English accent there!

Slight disappointment: silver is “monochromatic”? really??

I. really.do.love.him.
LOL at him working the crowd and that one girl who wanted to get on stage :)
Biffed on the monochromatic, but scored with the Nigel imitation, so we’ll call it even!
Silver will be monochromatic with his pale skin and accentuated with black clothes. ;) (lol, that didn’t make sense)
Loved his English accent!
Have you ever heard Nigel speak? He has a ‘posh’ British accent.
i know this is O/T but has anyone pre-ordered cookies cd yet?
Best performance of this song by a mile! Def. seemed relaxed and looked oh-so-cute! Loved that he said things we haven’t heard before and the Nigel impression was great!
Just.Love.Him. And not sick of him yet…
ROFL. Lera, thanks for that!
LMAO, thanks for the meaty earlobe tidbit, Lera.
I cracked and did as ridiculous as it sounds. But its up to #7 on Amazon so I guess I’m not alone. Go Cookie!
The appearances aren’t ending either that quickly. I just reading Nightline is doing a profile on him tonight.
He is on Nightline tonight 11:35.
>
where do I find the list on Amazon again?
oops, I found it. and it’s off topic anyway. sorry, MJ!
Wow, Im impressed. Cookie is back!
Ive been saying that he looked and sounded tired during his performances after his win (Access Hollywood, Ellen, etc…)
I think this is the first Ive seen him the way he was during Idol (charismatic, really enjoying his performance, etc etc)
I LOVE THE ACCENT!!!!
he looked relaxed (still needs a little more rest). and he sounded great! the accent part was funny.
He is just so AMAZING! Go Cookie! I hope his whirlwind press tour is wrapping up and he can go relax. Hopefully with family and friends away from the LA scene for awhile…

He is eating all of this up, and it’s hilarious. His experience in rock bands has served him well, he knows how to work a crowd.
Silver is as monochromatic as any other color standing alone and repeated or used with like hues of same and in various textures, etc, lol (is that a run-on sentence?), lol

TOML is on heavy rotation here in California.

And LOL @ the accent. :D
I’m just glad he doesn’t talk about his “gift” or his “art”. LU DC!
This is my favorite Cocky McSmugface interview/performance segment so far. I really hope he’s getting some sleep right now, though!
Silver could be viewed as monochromatic for someone who wears a lot of black, grey, and white. Which Cookie does.
Honestly–can he be more loveable?
