Diana DeGarmo Leads “Oz” Road Tour
Season 3 runner-up, Diana DeGarmo, has a new gig:
American Idol and Broadway HAIRSPRAY star Diana DeGarmo will star as “Dorothy” in OZ THE MUSICAL, a contemporary musical treatment of the popular L. Frank Baum story “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” the production will begin a Texas based tour in February 2009.
Diana played Penny Lou Pingleton in Hairspray on Broadway, as well as Maria in a regional production of West Side Story.
She was featured on John Rich’s CMT reality show, Gone Country and is signed to his production company. She’s currently recording a country album in Nashville.

Wow–she was Maria is WSS? I don’t think of her as being that high a soprano. I’m impressed. She’s very versatile.
Diana has done very well in spite of little to no support from AI.
I love Diana. She is my favourite female singer out of all the idols ever. She has an amazing range and is a wonderful performer as well. I cannot wait for her new music.
I was just going to say that myself. Why the heck do they have such a problem with a girl who by all reports is an absolute delight to be around?
If I lived in Texas I’d certainly go check this out. The You Tube videos of her from her various musical roles are impressive.
Because they were too busy pimping Fantasia out the wazoo back in her season to notice Diana and haven’t given rat’s ass about her since. Yet by all accounts, it certainly seems that Diana’s the one who has worked her ass off and done quite well for herself…and Fantasia is…well we just won’t go there.
/small voice/ I still really like the song Go On And Cry off of her CD./end small voice/
I appreciate how versatile she is, but also how talented and improved she is now at age 21. I saw her in Hairspray a few years ago…just fantastic and she’s a darn nice girl to boot. Idol has not treated her well over these years, but she seems to continue to carry herself well despite that. I think under the giggles and nice-ness is an intelligent and grounded person.
Diana remains one of my absolute favorites from all the seasons combined. She’s incredibly talented and I’m glad that she has continued to work hard despite the crappy treatment she has gotten from 19 and AI.
She’s fine. Her mother? Not so much.
