The soundtrack for the documentary, Don’t Look Down, featuring song by Michael Johns will be available at iTunes and Amazon on January 20th. The DVD is available now.
Don’t Look Down follows snowboarder Shaun White in the year after he won Gold in the Men’s Halfpipe at the 2006 Olympics. Michael co-wrote the score with Rye Randa and Jeff Foxworth.
Listen to snippets of songs at Amazon. I’m liking some of these tunes, and will probably download a few:
The DVD has 3 music videos that feature Michael singing songs from the film. You can order it now at Amazon:

I listened to them all on Amazon and the best one for me that I heard was “Life is Okay” The other’s well, I didn’t care much for. His lower range I like but once he goes up, I’m so lost.

Very impressive! He’s so much better than he ever showed on AI, best of luck to him!! I liked most of it so I’ll buy.
Michael sounds amazing on these songs, and I really love what I’ve heard so far. I can’t wait to buy this!
Thanks, MJ!
Michael sounds so good here. Wow.. I am impressed. I like this music.
He did a great job. I will be buying some tunes also. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. Michael sounds really great. I’m
definitely buying this too. I can’t wait to hear how his new
album will sound!!!!!!!!!
While I want to like his music, I’ll have to go back another time. As it were, this time, I only made it through snippets of the first 5 tracks and think I only liked “Life is Okay.” Maybe when I’m more focused, we’ll see…
Does anyone have the background on how and when this soundtrack was recorded? It looks like the movie was filmed awhile ago, but will just be released now. Any scoop? Anyone? Anyone?
The soundtrack was recorded pre-Idol and in 2007 from what I understand from a couple articles I read where the author interviewed Rye Randa (Michael’s friend and collaborator on the soundtrack, along with Jeff Foxworth). Here’s a link to the latest interview…

I loved the snippets that I heard, especially “Life is Okay”, “Hold On” and “River of Life” and can’t wait to purchase on Jan. 20th!
Oooooo..I listened to all the snippets and I can’t wait to purchase this soundtract.
Wow!! Thank You for posting this!!
It was so good to hear these snippets. It shows a range of Michael’s style. I love Life is Okay & River of Life!!
Thanks for posting this MJ.
Thanks for posting MJ. I am loving the songs from what I can hear so far. Life Is Ok, Hold On, Never Coming Back and River of Life are all fantastic and show Michael’s great range! I’ll be downloading the whole album without a doubt. Hopefully this will keep me patient for Michael’s album in March!
Just an FYI, Michael is lead vocals on 10 of the 11 tracks featuring vocals, Rye Randa sang lead vocals on View from Up Here.
I really liked some of the snippets. River of life sound like an amazing song. I think he should try to put some songs with the “Come on, come on” vibe in his album too.
I’m happy to be able to buy some Michael songs even before his album comes out. I wasn’t expecting to hear MJ sing on the soundtrack. For some reason I was thinking it would be all instrumentals.
It’s always hard for me to judge by snippets, but I like most of what I hear!
I already know that I absolutely love River of Life, having heard it before, and I am so glad that it was included on this CD.
Thanks for posting this MJ! It’s great to know that we’ll be able to get our hands on 2 Michael Johns CDs in the space of a few months. I suspect that they are both pretty different in sound and I’m looking forward to hearing both of them.
I thought it was gonna be all intrumental too until I first watched the dcumentary a few months ago. Now I am so anxious to hear these songs in full length! I haven’t chosen my favorites yet, but I do love “Come on Come on,” and a lot of the slower songs sound amazing, too.
This is all just so much! It’s really great to be a Michael fan right now.
I can’t wait to hear all the songs especially River of Life and Life is Okay in full too.
I just love that voice in Bless My Soul and Never Coming Back. And his soft voice in some of the other songs, You are Here, Hold On sounds amazing.
I am enjoying the instrumentals too. Bearing in mind this is a music soundtrack to a documentary on snowboarding and I think that is why some of the songs are under 2 minutes too, it has to complement the visuals, and already, without having seen the documentary, I can see in my mind the slow motion stills, fast action turns, thrills and spills and somersaults that comes with the music.
I was going to get the soundtrack only. But now I am not so sure. I might have to get the DVD as well.
And this would be the first time that a soundtrack made me want to buy the DVD.
Good Job Michael.
Such an unexpected bonusl
Looking forward to hearing these songs in full.
Like some others, “Life is Okay†is def my fave of the bunch. Will be buying that one for sure, and possibly one or two others. Looking forward to Michael’s cd!
By the way, I can not stop listening to these little snippets! I am really loving Hold On…very catchy. Over the weekend I was so excited it was coming out on the 20th, now 8 days seems like a torturous wait!
Apparently, Life Is Okay is a duet between him and Brooke? I never expected them to collaborate but I like it! =)
