Doxology Responds to David Cook

Our long national nightmare appears to finally be over.  Doxology, the band who has been campaigning for credit from David Cook for the arrangement of “Eleanor Rigby” he performed Top 12 week are finally appeased.  And they couldn’t be happier!

Did you know ahead of time that you’d be getting a shout-out?
We had no idea. We found out after the East Coast feed aired. Our drummer’s family lives in New York so he got a call from his mommy to tell him. She was excited. We watched the show, too, and were thrilled when [Ryan] Seacrest asked David about where he got his arrangements, but when he gave Doxology our long-awaited props, we were ecstatic.

Has David Cook tried to get in touch?
Not yet, no. But I have to say, he’s a great performer. He’s really going out there and finding the coolest arrangements and is definitely one of the more interesting contestants that I’ve seen.

All’s well that ends well.  The end.  I hope.  By the way, my recap of last night’s show is finally finished.  You can read it here.

LOL. Steve-o. Blake referred to Mr. Lewis as “Daddy” on Idol. Maybe it’s a Seattle thing. :-)

Anyway, I originally thought they were famewhores, but I’m not mad at them anymore since it turned out to be (partially) true. Still a big deal about nada, thouigh.

I’m happy that AI finally allowed David Cook to state on-air that he used Doxology’s’ and someone else’s arrangement of the song.

That was all they wanted and it was only fair. Some of the people who insisted that he did not use Doxology’s arrangement and doubted that he had ever heard their arrangement just seem shrug it off now. It’s just brushed off. Just, oh well.

As Indie artists, that info, if stated on-air earlier could have helped them. Since it was not done, it set the course of Cook gaining ground instead. Now that belated acknowledgment probably won’t help them much. Too late. Too bad.

I think David Cook is amazing! I don’t understand the big to-do about doing a cover of a cover but I’m glad DC got a chance to clear the air.

Check out this really funny website for David Cook…if he’s as funny as his friends he should also be on last comic standing!
