Elliott Yamin Embarks on His Second USO Tour
Elliott Yamin will head out on his second USO tour later this month:
Season 5 finalist and R&B sensation Elliott Yamin will venture to Guam and Japan on his second USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour, October 8 -18. The soulful vocalist will visit military bases, perform four free concerts for troops and their families, as well as sign autographs.
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Elliott traveled to Germany, Belgium, and the UK on his first USO tour in February 2008, visiting and entertaining more than 2,000 troops serving in the region. He is a huge supporter of the U.S. military. ‘I write a lot of the songs I perform, but finding the words to describe my gratitude to our men and women in uniform seems impossible,’ said Elliott. ‘Working with the USO is the best way for me to let troops know how much I appreciate their service.’
Elliott Yamin has a ready-made fanbase in Japan–he’s toured there in support of both his album releases and has charted on Japan’s Top 100.

This ought to be a great tour for him. I know he loves doing the USO shows. And Elliott’s live shows are great — a pretty amazing fact, when you think back to the super-tense, profusely sweating, way-uncomfortable-looking guy he was in his early performances on Idol.
Wish he’d get another hit song, of course! But even if he doesn’t, Idol still has given him the chance to do music for the rest of his life, most likely. He always talks about the many venues there are in which to use your singing talent and get paid for it — if, like most of the Idol alums, you actually *have* singing talent — that he never knew existed back when he had his incredible voice but no clue about how he could use it to get work. Love that he does lots of charity gigs, like the anti-malaria one last week, too.
Three of the four dates are in Japan . . . where he’s a star. Sounds like a win-win. I mean, who’s paying for his (and his band’s) travel? I’m sure it costs a lot to get to Japan to see his fans.
I voted my fingers off for him on the show, but I really haven’t liked what he’s produced since then. Still hoping he does a jazz album (or even a single).
I’d love to hear the jazz album, too. Also the old-school R&B album!
Still, I do like a lot of the songs he’s done since Idol, and some of the more “current” ones are paying the bills, a necessity!–
I admit, though, that some of my very favorite stuff from him has been the more traditionalist songs on the albums — Train Wreck, You Are the One, Take My Breath Away, Cold Heart, You Say, Someday, This Bridge Is Burning, Back Door Santa, and Warm Me Up from the Christmas album. …
Yay, nice to see an Elliott story featured here.
Out in the good old USA LU has a smile as big as the CAT from Alice in Wonderland….:) Nice to hear about Elliott.
I’d love to see Elliott in NY – Maybe B.B. Kings? I saw Bo Bice there, ao maybe there’s hope.
Yep… still my all time fave idol. I doubt anyone will ever top him in my book! I miss chatting with you Pop!
Allison. Sorry you missed him, but Elliott was in NY a week and a half ago. He was the featured performer on the Rocks Off Cruise around Manhattan. There were about 150 of us there to see him and he was freaking fantastic! Elliott twitters about his upcoming performances, but unfortunately at the moment, he only gives a couple of hour’s notice. Hopefully, he’ll get better at giving advance notice.
