ELLIOTT!!! This is a great holiday CD … I will enjoy the additional songs this year. Still, can’t wait for the new CD!

I’m not ready to think about Christmas, but I can’t resist the E-Man!

I am not crazy about the two new tracks (yet), but most of the rest of this album I love, especially Warm Me Up.

(The E fangirl in me needed to post here, of course. Heh.)

The album got a very nice review in AllMusic News

    http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:dpfoxzwkldhe

“The curious thing about Elliott Yamin’s My Kind of Holiday is that it’s not just Yamin’s kind of holiday music — it’s flat-out his kind of music, an unabashed love letter to ’70s soul, especially Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway. … by and large, this is a surprisingly enjoyable holiday record and it would be nice if Yamin could get some of this vibe on his next studio album. After all, this is his kind of soul.”

Elliott’s team are very good at turning chicken into chicken salad but I guess it’s all gravy…okay I’ll stop.

During interviews promoting his Target exclusive last year, Elliott said that he would have the rights to his holiday songs after a year. His management and his whole team rock. I will buy the new songs until I can pick up the physical copy of the new CD.

Thanks for posting the review, jpfan. Nice.

the cover is very very cute I must say, or should I say Ellliot looks very cute on that cover, might just have to pick that one up, the CD that is

“a love letter to 70s soul” so thrilled that Elliott gets his niche and sounds great as usual, can’t wait for my holiday parties and adding this cd to the mix
    and the cover, adorable

I am in total agreement with this review. This is my favorite kind of music from him - funky soul! Go Elliott!!!

I am a little late to this, but the reviewer at allmusic gets it. Thanks jpfan for posting it. I will always support Elliott, and am forever indebted to him for introducing me to the music of Donny Hathaway. Truth be known, Elliott skeered me the most as Taylor’s most formidable competitor. I would’ve loved an all-male finale. But I digress.

“Back Door Santa,” which some latter-day listeners may recognize as the source of the horn sample that drives Run-D.M.C.’s “Christmas Time in Hollis.”

Man, I can’t wait to hear this one. So far have just heard Jingle Bells, (loved the alt tempo) but still have to check the rest out. Can’t wait to play some of these tunes to the fam during xmas festivities.

sidenote: I so enjoyed when TH and Elliott scatted during an AI aftershow some 2 years ago. Elliott has impeccable timing and harmonizes so beautifully. (it was obvious that Taylor was just as much in awe as many of us were:)

If you go to Elliott’s My Space and figure out the player, you can hear Back Door Santa and other songs on the Holiday album. May take a little while to figure out the player though. :)

For some reason the two new songs really bring the whole album together and it really comes across as very 70s throwback.

Thanks for the tip jpfan, I will have to sneak in checking that out at work. Broadband is supposed be expanded to my neck of the woods at home in another 3 years (per the County Mayor), but dang, long time to wait.

I love Elliott’s viability in today’s market by drawing from those old school roots. I am hoping Taylor will be able to do this too. Two diff. styles there, but hey it could happen:)

“Warm Me Up” has been stuck in my head all day - I don’t even care that it’s a “Christmas” tune. It is just won me over. Elliott Yamin warms me up, for sure!!! Loving the groove! I agree with lg on this post - the reviewer @ allmusic does get it! Hope others get it too…
