Fantasia Talks About Health and High School
Season 3 winner, Fantasia Barrino, currently on the road reprising her starring Broadway role as Celie in the musical The Color Purple, tells CNN about the health scare that caused her to miss 50 plus Broadway performances, and her decision to go back to school and get her diploma.
There’s no discussion of the VH1 reality show that reportedly will chronicle her journey, however…
Oh, if you get the opportunity to see Fantasia play Celie? Do. Not. Miss. It. She’s fabulous.

Fantasia is quite the performer. Seeing her in the Color Purple was definitely a good experience.
Glad she is doing well. I know she is not everyone’s cup of tea and she’s gotten a lot of flak, but IMO, I still think she is one of the most naturally and spectacularly gifted singers to come through the idol machine. Hope she is enjoying the tour of The Color Purple.
I would love to see her in Broadway; does anybody know if the rumors about her starring the movie adaptation of the play are true?
Fantasia is a powerhouse. I saw her in The Color Purple on Broadway. She was incredible. I am in awe of her talent, and I still think she has a second and third act up her sleeve. She’s on of the best to have graced the idol stage. Seriously.
I love Fanny so much. I’m so glad to see her back in action.
Fantasia is and will forever be my favorite Idol contestant. No other contestant will match the energy and passion that she puts in a performance. She just gets up there, does her thing, and will just not have it any other way.

I haven’t kept up with Fantasia too much so it was great to see how she is on a positive path! When I found out she won the role in Color Purple I thought how “perfect” as I will never forget her epic moment on AI.

I’m going to be seeing The Color Purple in Orlando in November – I wonder if she’ll still be on the tour then. I hope so!
I’m also seeing Taylor in Grease here next week. There were a bunch of shows coming that we wanted to see this year, so a couple of friends and I just decided to buy season passes to the theater here.
her performance of Summertime from Porgie & Bess on AI made it quite clear that this girl needed to be on Broadway or West End (London) doing dramatic musical theater. so glad she got there!

(p.s. I wish they were bringing The Color Purple here to the San Francisco Bay Area.. I would love to see her in this show.. damn! However, looking forward to her new CD! hopefully some ballads…)
