ETA:   This guy auditioned in front of the producers today.   He blew it when he admitted to Nigel Lythgoe that he  knew he couldn’t sing,  but was auditioning  because he wanted to be on the show.   Dumbass.

Second and third-round auditions are taking place at the W hotel in Dallas this weekend:

The American Idol frenzy continues in Dallas à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ this time at the luxurious W Hotel. Hundreds of second-round contestants showed up at the Victory Park hotel Thursday morning to audition for the show’s executive producers.

An Idol publicist said those “few hundred” contestants would be whittled down to an unspecified number. Contestants who then make it to the third round will audition sometime this weekend in front of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

All three are reportedly scheduled to arrive in Dallas today, though Idol would not release details on when. Auditions will take place throughout the weekend at the W Hotel.
