  • Hi Guys..wave

This is like my 3rd post here and I love to read your comments.
I am a songwriter, and only one of these tracks on this album leaves me feeling a little MEH. The others. I either LOVE or am very very interested to hear how they will sound in full, and that is some achievement, believe me.
Honestly, if you truly love Adam as an artist, then you should not worry. Enjoy his music, because this album is full of promise, and that is all an artist can do. This album has the potential to be really great, but if it does not have the radio play and sales of Carrie Underwood or Chris Daughtry, well…that is not a surprise, it would be amazing if it did because of the genre it is. If Allison or another female artist had put this material out, then I suspect many people would be more comfortable with that, but because Adam is male, there seems to be an issue or resistance to accept it for what it is for some people. It is very important to find a male artist in the US who is prepared to take risks, and Adam has done this. If nothing else, he deserves huge kudos. I hope it pays off, And RCA, for heavens sake, please promote Adam a little bit in the the Uk.

  • Ps, this is not overly auto tuned

  • pps..I’m afraid I can’t do quotes or even edit coz i suck at being technical, so i aplogize for the many posts. But I will elaborate on me last short post.
Each of Adams tracks has a different sound therefore different effects and overlays. Generally in recording, some kind do enhancement or effect is used on EVERYONE..even the seemingly simplest, most honest recordings. Hardly anyone records straight..as they are. Some effects are used heavily on Adams tracks, some hardly at all. People so often wrongly use the word auto tuned as a put down and generalization..if you want auto tune, think Believe by Cher. Occasionally Adam may have reverb, or echo or some other effect enhancing parts of certain tracks, but that is used to add to the overall sounds..but auto tune not much. I am drunk, therefore not making much sense….but the auto tune accusation annoys me.

  • @alfie

I came back to this thread so I could play the snippets again. I really appreciated reading your commments and I hope you will find your way to a current thread so you can chime in on the autotuning debate.

Maybe when you sober up (LOL) you will log on and find the current Adam topic.

  • “I’ve heard autotuned bandied about quite a bit. I just wonder does anyone know for an absolute fact that autotune is involved? I have heard Adam has perfect pitch (already autotuned, so to speak) so I would wonder why they would add autotune? Maybe just for production effect for some of the background vocals?”

Perfect pitch just means that if someone asks you to sing a certain note, you know exactly what pitch that note is and can sing it. It doesn’t mean that you sing every single note in tune during every single performance. You’ll definitely hear yourself go out of tune, but vocal control is more important to staying on-pitch than perfect pitch is. Perfect pitch has more to do with the sound you hear than the sound you produce. So no, it’s still a possibility that Adam uses autotune, even if he has perfect pitch.

  • I keep coming back to this page to listen to snippets because I think the album is fantastic and I can’t stay away. But when I see the sales of FYE (at least on iTune), it is not a blockbuster as you and I might have imagined, yet. It is a bit puzzling compared to the buzz I keep seeing. Alfie maybe right that some men may not feel comfortable buying his music. Probably his fan base is quite a bit more lopsided for women than any other idols. But what happened to David Bowie and Queen fans? Why is Adam any different? Less Rock, too Pop? Hmmm…

I hope that verdict is still out there. FYE is not exactly my cup of tea, and I wouldn’t have bought it as a single unless I wanted buy “Adam stuff”. And I am not planning to buy it because I am waiting to get the whole CD. I hope there are more like me.

I would have bought Soaked, Whataya Want from me, Broken Open, Time for Miracles, and the Loaded Smile as singles as a snap, if I didn’t have money to buy the whole album. And I would even if I did not know who Adam Lambert was before hand. I predict and pray that album will do better than FYE as single.

  • i havent heard FYE at all on any station…i am soo annoyed!! i want to write all the stations and say i will just hook up my ipod and not listen to any stations! i hear kris’ song all the time. why doesnt adam get any air time? the song will be a sure fire hit! its soo aggravating!

  • wrong thread

  • edit: DIAL BACK THE ANGER PLEASE.

  • I am pushing 50 and I very rarely buy any music. Most of the music I listen to was released during my teens and twenties, with occasional additions over the last twenty years. I have only bought one album for myself in fifteen years and that was a English jazz/fusion quartet (Portico Quartet).

I am going to buy FYE and the snippets certainly haven’t put me off. I am even buying myself an ipod shuffle and working out how itunes work.

I think FYE will sell big across Europe and Asia. I think it will be huge in markets like Japan.

If the US is not ready for Adam Lambert, I think the rest of the world is!

  • Older fan here – I always listen to my ipod when grocery shopping to get thru it painlessly – I listened to all the longer previews of the 5 songs featured – this is going to be a GREAT album. I did find myself dancing while unloading the groceries and just feeling …. happy. There are many layers to these songs and you have to listen more than a couple of times to appreciate all the talent that went into this. Love this site and all the contributors – especially the way MJ runs a tight ship!

  • i think i MELTED when i listened to ‘Time For Miracles’ <3 same for Kris Allen's 'The Truth' i nearly cried when i heard that luv em both <3 <3 <3
