Freemantle Files for Trademark on “Country Keynotes”

Here’s an interesting little tidbit I found over at Reality Blurred. The folks at Freemantle Media, the producers of American Idol, have been busy at the US Trademark and Patent Office!

FremantleMedia North America has filed five applications for trademarks relating to the phrase Country Keynotes, which is identified in one application as “a television game show.” The other four applications are for use of that phrase on toys; clothing; paper goods such as books, magazines, calendars, and posters; and audio and video uses such as CDs, video games, MP3 players, and more.

Oh my!  The lawyers at O’Melveny and Myers sure have been busy!  I’ll be nice and not mention any names. Heh.

Anyway. What do you think “Country Keynotes” is all about?  Speculate away!

So they can see the financial gains in the country market then.

    Interesting.

“Idol” Producers May Be In Search Of Their Own Country Crossover

Recently filed patents suggest that American Idol producers FremantleMedia may be starting a show called Country Keynotes; it’s referred to as “a television game show” in the paperwork, causing bloggers to speculate that an all-twang version of Idol is in the offing. But while it isn’t too much of a stretch to think that FremantleMedia would want to set up a stable of Carrie Underwood clones in case she decides to ditch the heartland and embrace her hard rock destiny, I’m suspicious of this speculation for a few reasons……

The name “Country Keynotes” sounds more like a game show than a reality show to me.

That’s what I think it sounds like, too, Lisa. I can name that country song in three notes!
