I prefer the album version though, which seems to have bigger, more dramatic instrumentation and I like to really crank it up and surround myself with the music… Although I suppose that that might not work as well on radio.

Couldn’t agree more Mary. The good thing is that the old version will always be on the CD for us to crank it up. :smile2_ee:

hey folk - guess who one of the top friends is on elliott’s myspace? marc broussard.

  3. 503 madaboutu Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:25 pm

I totally loved LKL, but it made me think of makeup sex when Ryan came on. Like, OK, we know there have been some upset fans out there, about Simon, so we are going to fix that up right now, and we really love you, Taylor, even Simon. I do believe that Ryan does like Taylor…..and Fantasia and other idols, but Simon didn’t dare come on and apologize for his comments. So Ryan got the job.

  4. 504 maracaibo Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:27 pm

Will I get killed over here if I say I don’t like all that breathiness in the new version of JTFTW?

madaboutu: Trust me. You are not the only one. I hope his people know what they are doing. His voice sounded AMAZING in the original version.
The new remix version: NOt as much. But again: That’s only our opinion right? Gosh, now I am having doubts about this version making it into the radio. I really hope it works out.

  5. 505 coco Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:28 pm

Did yall E-mail Larry King and tell him how much we enjoyed the Interview. Is that something we should do….yall are so much more savvy at knowing these things than I beez. Please write back

  6. 506 Margie Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:29 pm

mad, I agree. Simon is an a$$! LK said he would ask Simon if he liked Taylor. Does that mean he is going to have him on the show?

  7. 507 Lu Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:34 pm

Is anyone going to watch those guys on Jimmy Kimmel tonight? (The one Simon said looked like a bush monkey and the big guy.)

  8. 508 sharon8 Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:42 pm

Just popping in to say I have tickets to see Taylor in Austin on 3/15 - at a Rodeo of all things. At least it’s in a covered arena that seats 6500. We got box seats so we can eat dirt during the rodeo part.

Sorry if this link has already been posted.

  9. 509 Metta Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:45 pm

we are chatting, for those who care to join.

  10. 510 madaboutu Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:48 pm

sharon8………you had to brag didn’t you? :rolleyes_ee: Just kidding. I am jealous that you have your tickets and know you will have a seat.
Margie and maracaibo……yes, we will have to trust the team, and that includes Taylor. He said that he picked this song and he can listen back to it, so if he thinks it sounds better with all that breathing, OK. Hope it doesn’t bring up any “creepy” remarks from nonfans. I guess I have gotten too sensitive over the past few months because of the media.

  11. 511 shar Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:54 pm

coco, that is a good idea, postive feedback is always appreciated. I read either here or on GC that because of many requests the show will be repeated on Sunday so it does sound as if there has been some follow through.

Metta, if you are still here, I had to go to my book discussion group and just am getting caught up. Thanks for posting the video of Bo singing Vehicle. That was my favorite performance by him.

My coworker has a son who was four years old when Bo sang that and he went around the house singing I am your vehicle mommy, too funny.

  12. 512 sharon8 Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:56 pm

sharon8………you had to brag didn’t you? Just kidding. I am jealous that you have your tickets and know you will have a seat.

madaboutu, OK, to be nice, I won’t even mention the tickets to the Ryman or B’ham. :blush_tb: When he comes all the way to your coast, I might get to meet you too!

  13. 513 cheese Jan 19th, 2007 at 10:57 pm

the new version is way better.

imagien what the album could have been like. that minus some of the crap songs.

Hey, maybe they can “re-mix” Dream Myself Awake and Give Me Tonight to sound more like Heart and Soul and In Your Time. You know, just change the lyrics and the music completely? :)

  14. 514 maracaibo Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:03 pm

o it, so if he thinks it sounds better with all that breathing, OK. Hope it doesn’t bring up any “creepy” remarks from nonfans. I guess I have gotten too sensitive over the past few months because of the media.

I know madaboutu. I am getting nervous here, in my mind the original “version sounded so much more radio friendly. Let’s just put it this way, more professional.
Anyhoo, to make matters worse I hope Taylor really sell 1 million copies of his albu. According to Ken Barnes Kellie Pickler even has a better chance to sell more than Taylor.
Look what he wrote on his column:

“Certainly a big day for Idol record award certifications. Thanks to James Pegram and Idol Junkies for the tip that Kellie was presented a gold record award by Rosie O’Donnell on The View today. (The official announcement is forthcoming.)

Kellie’s RIAA certification is less of a stretch than Taylor’s. Kellie has sold 372,000 copies of her debut album, so she needs just 128,000 to reach 500,000. (Although if she maintains her present sales rate, it’s going to take about 15 weeks. But the first single’s still doing well and a second one may help, too.”)

    Conclusion:
The success of JTFTW on the radio is really the last resource for Taylor. He needs a break to keep on selling IMO.
Otherwise, I don’t know how much more he is going to sell. It’s a little nerve wracking to be honest with you.
When I see all the idols having singles on the radio (including Chris, Kat, Kellie and Bucky) I keep thinking: When is Taylor going to be there too?
    Just saying.

  15. 515 Cam Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:05 pm

coco - ya well, I have a feeling gray doesn’t like what I post over there! LOL… he cut the lawsuit post - the nerve! ;)

awwwhhhh…griz..he’s just protecting Taylor from the onslaught of negative remarks at his official blog. I’d do the same if it were my choice. There’s enough shit to deal with over there..

Negative remarks for what. Taylor did not do anything wrong.

I didn’t mean Taylor did anything wrong. Just things could get nasty. Nothing more.

  16. 516 BigTayFan Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:05 pm

cheese: Hey, maybe they can “re-mix” Dream Myself Awake and Give Me Tonight to sound more like Heart and Soul and In Your Time. You know, just change the lyrics and the music completely? :)

:lol_tb:. OMFG! I had the same exact thought.

  17. 517 madaboutu Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:11 pm

sharon8…….. :furious_tb: I hate you! Getting real though, can you give any tips to get hold of tickets right away besides sleeping in front of some place? I can’t do that anymore……. :down_tb:
A poster named alltheanswers said on grays that Taylor is going to be at alot of casinos. There are lots around L.A. But I think for those you have to go there to buy tickets, and can’t buy through Ticketmaster. Do you know anything about that?

  18. 518 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:17 pm

Sharon8…. are you still here?? I just bought two box seats to the Austin show. Will e mail you tomorrow where we are sitting.

  19. 519 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:18 pm

masaboutu ,,,, do you want to go to the Austin show??

  20. 520 dave Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:18 pm

When I see all the idols having singles on the radio (including Chris, Kat, Kellie and Bucky) I keep thinking: When is Taylor going to be there too?

I agree with you. This does feel like make or break for the CD. Its a friggin’ joke that he hasn’t had a single released to radio yet. Roll this J Records.

  21. 521 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:20 pm

Sharon8 are you going to the Rymann???

  22. 522 madaboutu Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:24 pm

terry……..so sweet of you to ask!!! I am in SoCalifornia and I am sure there will be several venues around, I just am afraid since they are smaller that they might sell out fast. Thanks anyway. Never been to Austin.

  23. 523 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:29 pm

madaboutu, I would prefer a small seated venue but the “rodeo” will have to do for now. I am hoping to go to another show or two. I really don’t want to stand for 3 hours or more like at HOB in Houston. The concert in Austin is in the round…..UGH… I have been to this arena before and as rodeos go it is smallish.

  24. 524 sharon8 Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:30 pm

Hey Terry, yes, I’m going to the Ryman and I have extra tickets. Want to go? Two women from Houston are riding with us - want to go with us too? Our seats are in section NO, row 6. Not a big selection available.

madaboutu, I wish I knew how to get tickets easy - I just sit at Ticketmaster at 10am and hope I can type fast enough! These Austin tickets are sold thru some University of TX ticket selling place online. I don’t think they were sold out yet, but they will be, I’m sure. Haven’t been in a casino in years. How on earth would someone not local grab a ticket? We’ll have to investigate that when his schedule goes up for CA. I’d love an excuse to go to CA.

  25. 525 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:31 pm

Sad ,, there are so many great places in Austin and hthey book him into a arena that seats at least 6,500 people. Really a substandard venue IMHO But I am GOING :clap_tb:

  26. 526 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:33 pm

Sharon8 yes let me email you tomorrow about Ryman… My son and his family live in Mt Juliet a suburb of Nashville….. It sounds like fun…..

  27. 527 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:35 pm

In Austin I am in box seats NO row 4…near you I think???

  28. 528 sharon8 Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:36 pm

Really a substandard venue IMHO But I am GOING

And we’ll be close enough to eat dirt! I expect the sound to be terrible, but my eyes will be seeing just fine. And it will probably be a new audience for him.

  29. 529 sharon8 Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:37 pm

Terry, yes, we are 2 rows above you! We got 6 tickets, and row 4 didn’t have that many together. Too cool.

  30. 530 terry Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:40 pm

Sharon8 where are you sitting in Nashville??

  31. 531 madaboutu Jan 19th, 2007 at 11:42 pm

Well, cool, there will be some of you all together in Austin. sharon8……..as for tickets at casinos in California, I need to check that out and see if that is the process at them all.to have to go to the venue to buy tickets. Griz, are you here? Have you found out anymore about Pechanga and how that works?

  32. 532 Desdemona Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:00 am

Oh check out this review at Amazon! The latest is from someone who said he saw an article in Vibe Magazine about Taylor so he decided to buy the album.

“It is a great mix of some good oldies, new groovy tunes, and some wonderful ballads. This boy can sing.”

  33. 533 DogDoc Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:08 am

Sharon8 Are your going to be able to watch the rodeo too or just the concert??? If there is a rodeo will Taylor be watching too?

I’m thinking Taylor will be coming to Portland OR– if you fly up for the concert make sure to email me.

I’m pretty sure I read that this venue will be a cut down to a Half Round config.

  35. 535 DogDoc Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:19 am

About the Thomas Daniel DUI and Hit and Run.

I’ve noticed in Portland alot of people get hit by cars. There are a lot of pedestrians in Portland, the streets always seem to be wet and it is usually dark or grey in the winter. I remember one night when there was a sudden rain storm during rush hour five people were hit by cars between 5 and 6.

Of course that doesn’t make what he did right. It just seems to happen more often in Portland.(Clackamas is a suburb of Portland)

  36. 536 panlady Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:20 am

Hi, I’m a lurker from Austin and I want to get tickets but am not sure about where the best seats might be at the Expo Center. Any tips would be much appreciated.

  37. 537 terry Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:27 am

undecided,,,,,hope you are right and it is a more intimate setting. I have been there for a hockey game and it is a very basic arena.Fhe accoustics are non existent but I just couldn’t pass up the chance to see Taylor again.

  38. 538 terry Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:30 am

Panlady, Go to the site and look at the seating diagram. It shows a full stadium but hopefully undecided is right and it wil be a half stadium. The diaram shows it as the stage in the center of the arena.

  39. 539 mj Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:34 am

I’ve made a change to the site. The daily chat threads will be posted in the side bar rather than on the front of the blog. They should be easy to find. I think I may put the date in the title like “Saturday Jan 20 Chat Thread”

  40. 540 WVIdolFan Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:40 am

I bought kellies cd as soon as it came out and one as a gift. I truly love every song on it.

  41. 541 terry Jan 20th, 2007 at 12:45 am

Found the new sidebar . so can I say first!!!

  42. 542 Cam Jan 20th, 2007 at 1:31 am

FYI…everyone is over at chat if you’re looking to talk

  43. 543 claireb7tx Jan 20th, 2007 at 2:00 am

terry - have you been to Austin venue before?

  44. 544 Laurel Jan 20th, 2007 at 3:21 am

Cool, a report on CNN (International) about all the Celebrity Big Brother hoopla in the UK is also showing shots of AI, and mostly Taylor.

  45. 545 acm Jan 23rd, 2007 at 11:43 am

i know this is kind of a late post but, to all the people that were talking about Taylor/Jaan Childs, ex-manager…for the record, Childs is NOT someone who “came out of the woodwork”…he worked with Taylor for nearly 10 years (Taylor has had a band since he was 16), worked his ass off, as a matter of fact - did all his bookings, put together demos, dragged him out of bed to after an all nighter, pounded the pavement with record companies trying to get him a record deal for years…not to mention, they were best friends from childhood. He did have a contract, but Childs, being a good friend, did not mention this to AI so Taylor could compete - thinking that surely Taylor would continue the relationship. Goes to show you - fame fogs your good sense. What goes around comes around.
