It’s a shame that a musician that has a connection to the music, like Taylor, should be shunted aside in favor of one who has no idea what they stand for, and caters to the current trends.

That’s because of his desired to obtain that elusive recording contract. He is now part of the Circus Act that is AI where cd sales matter more than talent.

Errrm. I see this conversation degenerating into a “My Idol Is better than Your Idol-Your Idol Sucks Mine Is Awesome” type conversation.

Please change the subject. Thank you.

Hey - I know some of you have listened to the Elliott song snippet - hope you enjoyed it. I’m predicting a great crossover potential as I said earlier. Vegas agrees with me! :) Anyway - it’s been a long wait and it’s finally almost over - an Elliott cd - halleluiah!!!

  4. 404 AZIdolFan Feb 2nd, 2007 at 8:35 pm

my first post here (since the new year change) and thanks MJ the subject needed to be changed.

  7. 407 SEXYGIRL Feb 2nd, 2007 at 8:41 pm

Didn’t they start announcing dates in mid-January and they started trickling out at first (i.e. starting with 4 or 5 dates)? That’s an ENTIRE month after he was certified platinum (and even more time since he was shipped platinum).

Sounds like they knew he was a success before they booked those clubs.

Thank you for saving me the trouble of typing it out. You pretty much captured my thoughts to the tee.. But, you know Chris and his people never screw up. That title belongs to Taylor and his folks.

Funny thing is, if they actually did book those places before he even sold a cd, it does not appear as if they had faith that he could even sell out 1000 plus seat venues if they booked him in bars with a capacity of 300 to 500.. I thought his AI Tour lovefest and all the great reviews would have given them an idea of his popularity..

    I agree..

    Jennifer,

If you’re lurking, how are things going down in Florida?

  10. 410 AZIdolFan Feb 2nd, 2007 at 8:47 pm

Lu - I liked the little snippet. But then I always liked his voice.

  11. 411 xoxoyc Feb 2nd, 2007 at 8:48 pm

Lu: I just listened. I’d have to hear more of the song, to make a better judgement. It sounds like Elliott- but I love him more on the slower stuff that really shows off his vocals.

    He sounds great though!

  12. 412 shar Feb 2nd, 2007 at 8:52 pm

Dang, the Elliott youtube clip was too darn shor. Taylor was and is my fave but E was second. He sounds great, I am lovin the hair and how handsome did he look in the picture with the longer hair and those sexy eyes. I will definitely pyrchase E’s cd and I still hpe that he and Taylor will do a gig together somewhere, someday.

I really hope all the MJ bloggers from Florida are safe and sound and everybody in the midwest be careful this weekend, it is ass-freezing time with temps here in Indy projected to be in the minus column. BRRRR!!!

Sexy, Thank you for asking. I spoke with my mom a little bit ago. She said that many main streets are still closed in our town. They aren’t letting people or media into the worst hit areas. It appears that no lives were lost in our town, but they are saying at least 700 homes destroyed in Deland (It’s a two McDonald town). My mom thinks it is higher. (I’m in NC now, but all my family is in that area, it is hard being so far away).

My stepdad spent all day doing search and rescue. One of his friends was missing all day and they finally found her, unharmed except for a dislocated shoulder. He got into the worst areas and said it is unimaginable and compared it to the destruction from Andrew. He was very shooken and upset. My brother in law flew a helicopter with the sherrif’s department most of the day and his home safely. He said the view from the area is horrible.

I couldn’t get through to my aunt this evening cuz she was in the worst area, but my stepmom had spoken to her this morning and she was safe but her neighborhood was gone. I’m sorry if I’m rambling. I’m still shook up by this. It’s hard seeing footage of places you know and grew up in on TV. Thanks for listening.

Well, I’m mostly a lurker, but here I go. Sometimes I come into chat as Barb. Did you all see at Gray’s that tickets at Foxwoods went on sale at 2 today? Well, wouldn’t you know it, I was at work w/o my charge card! I just tried to get tickets, and it looks like it’s sold out (of those tickets available today anyway). It was telling me none are available, even when I put a quantity of 1 ticket. Waaaaa! Now I guess I will have to try to get through on 2/13 when they go on sale at the box office. Maybe I should take the morning off work just in case! Did anyone else get tix?

  15. 415 jenniferg72 Feb 2nd, 2007 at 8:55 pm

I just listened to the Elliot clip. I’m not a huge fan of that type of music, but I REALLY liked it. Very good. I could see it being played on the Top 40 station here in Raleigh.

And thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers you sent throughout the day.

  16. 416 bookworm Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:07 pm

I forgot to say up above that those Foxwoods tickets are for Taylors’s concert on 4/6.

    Lu,
    Elliott sounds awesome!

  18. 418 squishy Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:12 pm

    Lu,

I LOVE Elliott’s song!! Very sexy and hip! I can’t wait to see a video of Elliott singing this song!

  19. 419 jenniferg72 Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:16 pm

Squishy, I agree. That song will make a great video! My husband who is picky about music also liked the song alot. I really like Elliot and hope it is a hit.

  20. 420 Lu Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:28 pm

All of the people in Fla are in my prayers. I’m sorry I’m just now mentioning it but, if you can believe it, I hadn’t even heard the news.

  21. 421 beesims Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:29 pm

Lu, I love the new long haired, bearded Elliott. He looks so HAWT in those pix. I like the little snippett too. I think he is going to surprise a lot of people when his record comes out.

  22. 422 jenniferg72 Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:29 pm

I’m headed to bed. Have a good night.

  23. 423 Lu Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:30 pm

Squishy - Glad you like it. I’m still hoping in a few years Chris and Elliott will record Savin’ Me. :) Chris continues to roll. His Charlottesville, VA show sold out in 7 min.

I think that song may surprise some people also… we shall see!

  25. 425 Kat Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:31 pm

I love the new Elliott song!

I wish Taylor was able to do this kind of stuff–not genre-wise, necessarily, but able to have more creative control. It’s almost enough to make me wish that he hadn’t won, and had gotten the little Hickory contract instead, and would have just been able to produce the CDs he wanted and tour and please himself and his fans, without having to live up to expectations set by Idol watchers, DAUGHTRY!, or other people who are reveling in the schadenfraude of hoping for his failure.

  26. 426 calimari Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:41 pm

OK, I’m frustrated again. I posted hours ago that I can’t listen to the Elliott snippet as the link requires a password. Is there some other link somewhere in here that I can use? I’ve gone through the posts 3x looking for another link but the only one I see is the one that needs a password. And no one answered my request for the link that I put in about 5 hours ago…

  27. 427 Stefunny Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:42 pm

Just curious…where can I find out where certain songs are playing in certain markets? Is there a website or do I just have to listen to random radio stations?

    Thanks!

  28. 428 Paula Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:43 pm

Taylor has told us many times that he’s happy with his CD. I’m sure things will be on the upswing starting next week, New Orleans and then the tour. He will be very happy.

  29. 429 JustSomeGuy Feb 2nd, 2007 at 9:48 pm

Well if I ever find anyone reveling in the schadenfraude of hoping for Taylor’s failure, I’ll be sure to straighten them out … pronto!!!

Jennifer, thanks for the insight. I don’t remember how many towns were affect but it does not matter. You always feel hopeless and helpless when things like this happen. But the beauty is, the true spirit of man always manages to shine through. We put our competitve spirit to the side and we come together to help rescue and do whatever we can for one another. It’s sad that it always takes a things like this to do that but it does. Goodnight.

    Kat,

You know, I sometimes wonder if Taylor’s cd was selling as well, would we be upset and wishing that he had done this or that. Goodnight everyone…

MJ, Is the editing function working okay?

I tried editing my last post and I re-submited it but what I typed did not post.

can’t wait to download elliott’s cd; i love what i heard.

i don’t think it’s fair to suggest that chris daughtry isn’t true to what he stands for or something. it’s obvious he loves what he’s doing. i am not sure how dated his stuff will get but for now, he has a great rock arena voice and i am glad he is hitting his mark. people love his music. what’s wrong with that?

kat made an album that reflected what she listens to. but she doesn’t have soul, never did, so it makes it hard for her to sell the songs, esp live. she’s a big slice of wonder bread. oh, well. she’s very young and her life and career will probably take a lot of turns. she doesn’t interest me a lot but i wish her well. oh, and i don’t understand her fashion sense but do like her big plastic rings and painted nails.

taylor is gonna be fine. i don’t agree with all the choices he made on his album but it’s his life, not mine. i like the choice of single and am impatient for the video.

does anyone know when the tickets for the beacon go on sale?

You might try over at GC under the tour tab. Find the concert. The people who got tickets or who are trying to sell tickets, usually post there. You will need to sign up before you can post.

Popping out of lurkdom to say thank you for posting the clip of Elliott’s new song. It sounds great! It’s been a long wait but hopefully it’ll be well worth it when we finally get a whole cd full of new music.

Thanks–I’ll try that. Otherwise, I will try my best to get thru by phone to the box office on 2/13. If not, I might have to resort to ebay. Or try to go to Hampton Beach instead. I’ve just got to see Taylor!!!

    :thumbup_tb:

I’ve listened to that short clip over and over several times, each time hoping I’ll get to hear a little more of the song. :wink1_tb:

Do you know what the release date is for the single? February 12th?

  41. 441 sallykyy Feb 3rd, 2007 at 1:29 am

    Nevada
Ace was one of four credited songwriters for “It’s Not Over,” so the statutory rate of $0.0455 per song (for songs less than 5 minutes in length) is divided by 4 = $0.011375

    414,721 x $0.011375 = $ 4717.45

    Nevada,
Seeing that some writers has more input than those who wrote more compare to some who just add a few words, do the songwriters still share the same amount(equally divide)?
Appreciated all the numbers you’ve shared.

Moody, my apologies for this late reply. The single will be released on 13 February. :)

Unless there is a written agreement to the contrary or in the case of a work-for-hire, all songwriters are presumed to have contributed equally and will share equally in the royalties for the song.
