KOST just announced that they will be giving away tickets to Raging Waters and a concert by Kimberly Locke on May 27th.
So I was in Target today seeing the status of things in the CD section - all the idols were represented well - and I wind up passing on all of them - bought the new Donny Osmond album “Love Songs of the 70s” instead. ;)
Ok… now before you laugh, it’s damn good. Particularly interesting are his renditions of “You Are So BeautifuL’ (sung by Taylor on AI) and “Will It Go Round in Circles”, also a Taylor standard. Doesn’t ‘quite’ have his soul, but Mr. Osmond is a great vocalist - that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. So there.
Just flipping through my channels and paused on Nancy Grace. She is on the big story of Paris Hilton going to jail for 45 days..(time for a commercial) commercial was for the Hilton Hotel I kid you not
JP - If you go to HDD.com and click on Rumors on the right-hand side, you’ll see a paragraph a little way down on the page saying that Elliott will be on May 16th.
I just watched the behind the scenes top 6. Blake is such a ham. He called Brandon his “home skillet”. And Brandon makes a brief appearance with Melinda to flash his mega smile. *laments no Brandon on tour*
I actually never want to hear Taylor do Elvis again, no offense Griz
I actually hope that he would do a cover of IN THE GHETTO in his next album. That was one of his best last season. Even Simon had to reluctantly admit he was good.
I went to Elliott’s My Space page to see if there was anything further about him appearing on AI May 16th, and his schedule there shows he’s in Richmond, Virginia at the Innsbrook Pavillion on May 16th at 8PM. Which is right I wonder ?????

Two: We all know the coronation songs are icky. If they choose icky songs from pros, it is no surprise that they’ll choose icky songs from the submissions. I had no hopes that it would be better.
Kats single is coming out to coincide with the idol finale, but i wonder what paultry song they’ll make Taylor sing to this years top 12, all you need is friends?
I’m sure it would be just as helpful to her cd sales as all the magazine covers she’s appearing on.
I was hoping Kat render us a verse or two of that great hit of hers open toe shoe. But alas, I would not be so fortunate..
Damn.. That boy neeeds a woman in his life.. If for nothing else other than just to dress him.
Actually, he might have put them on backwards intentionally. He was playing the guitar. One could see those cufflinks scuffing up that instrument. Taylor is a smart young man. I’m sure he knows how to put on cufflinks.
Not a terribly exciting selection of songs, are they? I can’t say I actually dislike that many of them - but I can’t say I particularly LIKE them either. I’m not overly worried about Blake getting one of these forced onto him though, if he’s in the top 2. AI seems to be loving his uniqueness at the moment, and his last shake-up of a well known song was a hit across the board, so hopefully they’d give him some amount of leeway in ‘creative editing’. Taylor was able to choose a different song entirely, so things are possible if you’re strong willed.
Damn. First the producers pick the song and now viewers. When are the contestants going to be able to pick their own coronation song? Seeing as it’s, you know, sort of important. And they’re stuck singing it for months afterwards.
I can’t wait to see two people booted off this week. I don’t even care who it is anymore; I just want to see this bullshit start wrapping up. I’ve been bored all season long with these personality-free lumps. I blame the producers and story editors, of course. It’s their job to craft a compelling backstory out of the mundane nothingness that most people bring to the table. And this year the best they could come up with—not counting Sanjaya, to whom I will forever be grateful for the entertainment he’s provided—is that TimberFake used to be almost fat but lost it all when Los Angeles record execs told him to take a hike to Weight Watchers, LaKisha worked in a bank, Blake can make his mouth do stupid pet tricks, and Phil Stacey has victorious egg-branding sperm. And there’s very little suspense left now that it’s become clear that every single person left will have something at least resembling a career, even if they never become the next Kelly or Carrie. As long as there are gay pride festivals and Taste of Omaha street fairs, none of these kids will see their dreams of small-scale stardom die on the vine…..
CONCERT REVIEW Kenny Rogers plays to modest crowd at Salem Civic Center
A modest crowd of 1,556 at the Salem Civic Center on Friday night welcomed country music veteran Kenny Rogers and tour-mate Linda Davis, and Bucky Covington.
The audience, grayer than most for recent country acts at this venue, seemed to be mainly Kenny Rogers fans. There was, however, a small contingent who turned out for Covington, the “American Idol” finalist from Rockingham, N.C.
Covington opened the show with his small band of two guitars, keyboard and drums. It was only last month that his first album was released. Which means comparisons with Rogers, who can do a whole show of nothing but No. 1 hits, are unfair. But Covington’s set showed that he’s got some learning to do.
Whether because of bad mixing or indifferent arrangements, it was hard to make out his words. There were no harmony vocals from his bandmates, who were little more than adequate. Too often he seemed to be bellowing with his otherwise pleasant baritone.
Every song in Covington’s set sounded alike. The only real stand-out was a cover of Elvis’ “Suspicious Minds,” but even that would probably have earned a sneer from Simon Cowell…..
At first, he just wanted to put the incident behind him and let the physical wound heal.
But Wisam M. Hadad, 28, has decided to sue former American Idol finalist Jessica Sierra, who authorities say threw a cocktail glass at his forehead and left a gash…..
Yamin sings anthem at RIR
Third-place finisher in ‘American Idol’ also will perform tonight
Singing the national anthem is about as close as Elliott Yamin wants to get to the high speeds achieved in a NASCAR race.
“If I was driving a NASCAR car, I’d probably lose my license in the first week,” Yamin said yesterday. “I’ve always had kind of a heavy foot. I’ve gotten plenty of speeding tickets in my day, and reckless driving, too, but I learned long ago that it wasn’t cool.”…….

The communications company scrapped its partnership with the 25-year-old rapper Friday after a video was released that shows him simulating sex onstage with an underage girl during an Apr.12 concert in Trinidad….

“This week the partnership ended,” Verizon said in a statement to Fox News. “We have music services on our cell phone service and we were promoting him as one of the artists. The other part of the sponsorship was the Gwen Stefani tour, of which he was an opening act. We are no longer sponsoring the tour.”…

American Idol Love? Antonella Barba & Blake Lewis Swap Smooches
…Chris Richardson was linked to several eligible babes as the show moved along but things have been fairly quiet until now for Blake Lewis. The recent buzz has created the possibility of an American idol romance starring Antonella and Blake.
According to People mag’s behind the scenes look at the show, Antonella Barba returned to the Idol and was reportedly an unsually reserved audience member, not budging from her seat right behind Simon Cowell’s mom for most of the show.
Yet, Blake Lewis managed to catch Antonella’s eye right at the end of the evening and blew her a kiss. And according to our friends at The National Ledger, She promptly reciprocated and he “caught” the airborne kiss and held it close to his chest…

Constantine Maroulis will join the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful beginning Tuesday, May 15 on the CBS Television Network. He will perform a number of songs from his upcoming solo debut album over the next several months on the show…..
Carrie Underwood is trying to put the success of her debut album aside while working on her sophomore release. Carrie tells icebergradio.com that the pressure to follow up the five million-selling phenomenon of Some Hearts is too great to dwell on and seems to be an unachievable goal.
“I think right now there’s actually a little more pressure,” she says. “I think if I’d had two albums that were successful I would feel better about it. This one’s done so well I think it’s kind of impossible to achieve what we’ve achieved with this first one, so if I can do a third as well as I’ve done with the first one I’ll be absolutely more than pleased.”
Carrie says that as long as she continues to choose the best songs possible, she hopes the fans will follow. “I don’t want to compare the two,” she says. “I just want to go in and do the best job that I can and hopefully will stay on the right track and people might like it.”
There is no release date yet for Carrie’s new album. Her latest single, “Wasted,” is the fourth consecutive No. 1 hit for the former “American Idol” winner.
Kellie Pickler says she always knew that she wanted to perform on stage, but in high school, she just wasn’t sure how to pursue it as a career. Kellie tells Dial-Global that after graduation she tried walking down several other paths before deciding to audition for “American Idol.” ……..
…Among the acts she had to cancel was Bo Bice, an “American Idol” finalist, who was due to perform May 16. She said she had been working also to book another rock band, the Radiators, and Colin Hay, former lead singer of Men at Work, who was scheduled to play July 15…
It was announced this week that Constantine Maroulis, a finalist from season four of American Idol, will be joining CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful later this month. That got me thinking that when the public tires of Idol’s singing, you still have the makings of a good soap opera.
Here’s a typical day on Idol Worship: Our innocent ingenue (LaKisha Jones) is being pressured by the town’s wealthy cad (Simon Cowell) to give him a little somethin’-somethin’ or he’ll put her out on the street. He made his fortune with a chain of de-tanning salons: 20 minutes in one of his booths and you come out decadently pasty…..

Carrie Underwood Feeling the Pressure

There is no release date yet for Carrie’s new album. Her latest single, “Wasted,” is the fourth consecutive No. 1 hit for the former “American Idol” winner.
