That is one freaky picture of Jordin. It’s as if her head has detatched from her neck and has come floating towards the camera. It looks like a photochop gone wrong. Why is her body out of focus and her head is in sharp focus? What kind of fun house lens are they using?

I think I might need some more sleep.

The Superbowl has a red carpet thing now?

    What the hell??

Happy Idol Super Sunday everyone. In my next life, I want to come back as Tom Brady.

I’m so intrugued…. I read the idol appearances thread and Connie is appearing at Capital Ale House… less than a block from my work. Should I go? I won’t plan on eating there. I couldn’t keep my food down.

She looked REALLY nervous before, but she did an awesome job on the SSB.

    Well done Jordin!

    Go GIANTS!!!!!

I think Jordin lip synched the NA. If she did not she was absolutely awesome. I thought I saw a couple of times when her lips were slightly off from the words of the song. In any event, great job.

    Go Giants!

Jordin was lip syncing. But so was Alicia Keys.

Must be for some reason that I am not aware of.

I thought Jordan sounded good but forgettable. She kind of reminded me of Katherine at the end.

  14. 14 Kirsten Feb 3rd, 2008 at 6:29 pm

It’s a tough song to sing live. It’s even tougher to sound good in a stadium. It’s even that much tougher to sing such a pivotal song when a bundle of nerves.

The NFL is not interested in people talking about what a carpy and non-respectful job so-and-so did singing the National Anthem. It overshadows the big show. If the artist pre-records the song, they get umpteen takes and pro-tools to assist. And, if the NFL doesn’t like the version, they can send them back to the studio. Win-win-win for the NFL.

The artist just has to do a decent job of lip-syncing and they survive with their reputation in tack.

wow, I didn’t even realize she was lip syncing. (Must be the champagne…*

Still, her voice sounded great and she looked pretty.

  16. 16 emmavelle Feb 3rd, 2008 at 6:37 pm

I didn’t think Jordin was lip synching…don’t know why she would have looked so nervous beforehand if she were going to be lip syching.
I was pleasantly surprised with her performance…thought she did a grest job. Wasn’t very impressed with the Paula video. I love Paula, but the head mic she was wearing certainly did not disquise that she was lip synching. Thought she got lost in the crowd in her black outfit and although she is a great dancer, I did not see much more than some strutting around in this performance. The vocals, as everyone has said, are very over processed and the song very generic sounding like everything else. JMO

That’s alright. I have it covered.

I just posted it out front.

    I didn’t think Jordin was lip synching….

Then how did they have the exact same version available for sale on iTunes before she sang it live? Time travel? LOL. If anything, fans will tell you that iTunes tends to be a bit slow at adding things.

They do it almost every year at the Superbowl (some of the big name stars like Billy Joel can convince the NFL to let them sing live). No shame in it. Other big sporting events like the World Series and NBA Championships do allow the singers to sing the NA live.

don’t know why she would have looked so nervous beforehand if she were going to be lip syching

Maybe because she had to lip-synch, something she isn’t used to doing, in front of millions of people?

What happened to that kicky blue pant-suit she was supposed to be wearing? The one some famous designer designed for her to wear? The one that was in the news this week (MJ posted it)?

  19. 19 mj Feb 3rd, 2008 at 7:10 pm

Jordin was definitely lip syncing. Like Kirsten said, that’s how they do it.

Having to perform in front of millions and millions of people, and hoping not to pull an Ashley Simpson is reason enough to be nervous.

  20. 20 Tony Feb 3rd, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Thanks Kirsten for explaining the reasoning behind lip syncing songs at the Super Bowl.

    Definitely makes sense.

And yeah, Jordin did look really nervous. She wasn’t exactly 100% in sync with the vocal track so it showed a little bit. She still did a great job.

    D’oh! *blushes*

I haven’t been paying attention to the goings-on in Jordin’s career lately, so I didn’t know about the pre-released version of the SSB.

Oh well. Who knew the Super Bowl Star Spangled Banner could be such a great opportunity to make a buck?
