A few highlights:
- Jennifer Hudson’s Jennifer Hudson
dropped out of the Top Ten, from 9-14, on the Billboard 200 despite having a 10% sales increase this week. A slew of new releases entered the Billboard chart ahead of her. Her single, “Spotlight” debuts on the Pop 100 Airplay chart at #65.
- David Archuleta’s new iTunes single, “Angels”, debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 at #89. “Crush” climbs 21-18 with Airpower on the Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks chart.
- Daughtry’s “What About Now” climbs 22-19 with Airpower.
- Carrie Underwood’s “Just a Dream” remains at #1 for the 2nd week on Hot Country Songs.
- David Cook’s “Time of My Life” remains at #1 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart.
- Josiah Leming’s EP Angels Undercover debuts at #26 on the Top Heatseeker’s chart.

Am I seeing consistent numbers for Crush?…I guess I will just have to wait for the “experts’” opinions on what the charts say…….lol
The numbers have been consistent–meaning they’ve stayed about the same–for a few weeks now. It’s climbed on the Hot Adult Top 40 chart, but the AC charts tend to lag behind the Top 40 charts. “Crush” had a 1% sales increase this week.

It’s been #1 on the chart 6 weeks. This is the 5th week in a row.
“crush” has had now over 5 million hits on youtube!!
Can you tell us what “Airpower” means?

It’s a designation that’s given to songs the first time they hit top 20 in both spins (the amount of times a song is played) and audience impression (how many people hear the song each week).
Crush has been doing really well in Hot AC lately. It keeps rising in that format. Some big stations have just started to play it recently. Even KBIG, an LA Hot AC station played it yesterday (probably a test spin as they haven’t played it today–but weekends tend to be a little weird). That makes KBIG the first LA station to play Crush outside of a countdown. So the fact that one may add Crush to their playlist soon is pretty amazing.
A Detroit Hot AC station played Crush quite a bit today–another city that didn’t play Crush a whole lot on Top 40 radio. Same with B96 in Chicago–they’re a Hot AC station that plays Crush now all the time, but the Top 40 station in Chicago stopped playing Crush ages ago.
Interestingly, Crush, while it is losing spins on Top 40 radio, it gained quite a bit in audience impression today on Top 40. That means while smaller stations are decreasing spins for Crush, bigger stations are increasing. Weird? Yes. lol. But it means Crush isn’t dead yet on top 40. It may be looking at a very slow decent, which is always nice if a song is descending for it to do so very, very slowly.
Hi Soundscene – just for accuracy’s sake B96 in Chicago is actually an R&B/pop station. It’s a popular station in Chicago, with a playlist that skews a bit more urban than the local KISS station. I’m guessing they are playing Crush more for a few reasons – 1. it does well with this audience, 2. David had a great on air interview there during his promo tour with a popular AM DJ perhaps sparking interest and 3. maybe the most important reason – David is a featured artist at B96’s Jingle Ball
Speaking of the Jingle Balls/Jingle Jams, I bet David’s participation in all these shows will really help launch his next single, so the release date of 12/8 is perfect timing for that…
Finally, DA confirmed on Open House Party that he will be on a float in the Macy’s Parade – hehe! Wonder what kind of float it will be?!
^^ You’re right, it’s rhythmic. I got confused because I knew it was a station that was acting like a CHR but wasn’t a CHR.
Tatiana, on smarky archies, they said he will be on the lead float with Miley Cyrus (they linked to an article on justjared.com. I am puzzled as to how that works. Will they both sing at separate times?

Hi LK08 – you know I don’t know how it will work. My guess is that they will just be waving and smiling from the top of the float, or they will record an upbeat holiday track together that they will lipsync to – I think all the musical performances are lipsynced in the parade. Either way, this is a pretty big coup for David, huh?
