So, anyone know roughly what time the reports/songs will come out from the rehearsals?

  2. 102 Margaux Mar 25th, 2008 at 2:40 pm

I really wish Jason was born in 1982, Jack and Diane would be a great song for him. Maybe him and David C can trade birthdays.

Yes it would be. Instead Jason could do “Cherry Bomb” which is a fun Mellencamp song from his birth year.

I, too hate “Dust in the Wind” and “Eye of the Tiger”. But then I was never a big fan of “Play That Funky Music White Boy” until someone used that for a birth year song, and it was just the perfect thing. It’s all in the attitude.

My guess is we will be hearing spoilers from dress rehearsal any minute now. Of course, some weeks spoilers aren’t really available. I think last week we got spoilers at about 5pm.

I HEART We Built This City! It’s a great driving song. I think any of the guys (except sweet Jason) could do great with it!!

  5. 105 Terrie Mar 25th, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Michael has been singing from the heart with mixed results. He needs to start singing from his gut and for this reason I think a faithful rendition of Patti Smith’s “Because the Night” could work wondrously well. It’s from 1978, his birth year, and already performed in season 5, so getting it approved should not be a problem.

By gut, I mean the “thunder down under,” if ya know what I mean (and I just bet you do).

I think last week we got spoilers at about 5pm.

If I remember correctly, we didn’t get them until at least after 6 last week- it was later than usual.

    TMZ spoilers are UP!

Syesha- If I Were Your Woman
David Cook - Billie Jean (Chris Cornell version please)
Carly - Total Eclipse of the Heart
Chikeze- If Only For One Night (Luther)
    Brooke- Every Breath You Take
    Jason - Fragile (Sting)
    Ramiel - Alone
Michael Johns - We Are the Champions
    Kristy- God Bless the USA
David A - You’re the Voice (David Foster, huh?)

Not sure if this is the performance order (don’t think they even had rehearsals yet?)

  10. 110 primeminister Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:25 pm

NOOOOO, Jason’s no Sting. Plus Fragile is meaningful, but kind of boring.

So much for my “Don’t Dream It’s Over” pick.

    _____________

ETA: Now that I’m over my disappointment. Here are the lyrics for Fragile:

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow’s rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay
Perhaps this final act was meant
    To clinch a lifetime’s argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are

If Jason can really connect with the lyrics of the song…then it may work….

Oh, and Ramiele is a GONER. Especially if she performs early and Kristy Lee nails her song.

  11. 111 Terrie Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:28 pm

Jason Castro - “Fragile” by Sting

Michael Johns - “We Are the Champions” by Queen

David Cook - “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson

I think Jason’s is the best fit and, like “Hallelujah,” he could benefit from picking a largely obscure song.

Conversely, Michael has to really distinguish himself on a song so familiar to the audience and to season five fans.

David Cook’s choice could be really good or really bad.

    Here are some others:

Brooke White - “Every Breath You Take” by the Police

Carly Smithson - “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler (same potential problem as Michael’s)

    The rest? Oy.

  12. 112 poporange Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:28 pm

“Every Breath You Take” for Brook why am I worried …
“Total Eclepse of the Heart” for Carly Does she go for a glory note.

“God Bless America”Kirsty ihave a feeling will be w/ us agian for country night. The combo of accent and patriotic song. If thier is a big old American flag i will turn the chanel.

Jason’s no Sting. Plus Fragile it’s kind of boring.

Fragile is very pretty, but there’s not much to it. Maybe Jason can add some French. :)

  14. 114 flicker Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:32 pm

Nooo! Chikezie is singing another Luther Vandross ballad! He needs to stay far away from that stuff.

I hope this list is wrong. A lot of the choices are blah..

  15. 115 bean99 Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:32 pm

I’m a season 5 fan and I have no clue who did We are the Champions. I think it could be a good song for Michael but I’m not sure I’d pick it mostly because I think of sports when I hear it.

Are TMZ’s song spoilers usually accurate?

  16. 116 pj Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Not sure how I feel about Fragile. It could be really beautiful.

    I fear for Michael Johns.

  17. 117 poporange Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:33 pm

    oh well….thanks for the spoilers

I think they should not do “Queen ” songs retire them along but them I am biased . Thier was only one Freddy Mercury and only one contestnt came close to him…Hi Lu

  18. 118 Terrie Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:34 pm

If I ruled the world, Dominic Miller would accompany Jason tonight. He was the reason my BFF Alicia and I saw Sting’s tour.

  19. 119 cheese Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:40 pm

I’m a season 5 fan and I have no clue who did We are the Champions.

Taylor chose it and then changed his mind (good thing too, because he sounded like ass on it). He ended up singing it a bit in the group song on Queen night, IIRC.

  20. 120 princessmela Mar 25th, 2008 at 4:41 pm

Jason had so many good songs to choose from and he chose that???? Really?? I don’t get his angle…probably because he doesn’t have one.

That better not be final order because David A. should not have the pimp spot again, how many times would this be now?

“Every Breath you take” I just started laughing when I read that. Of course, I laugh every time I hear that song.

Michael really thinks he’s Freddie Mercury doesn’t he? It’s annoying!

“God Bless the USA” fits Kristy’s very limited range.
