I’m excited for tonight show! Should be fun. Also Katharine McPhee will be appearing tonight. Can someone tell me whats up with that Katharine McPhee stalker guy I keep hearing about from St. Louis?

Unless it’s in the news, this is an off-limits topic. Not interested in hashing fan board antics here. Thank you.

Checked out those Top 12 photo shoot photos. Everyone has all these comments under the photos until you get to Kristi Lee Cook. No comments. Just crickets chirping…

Not looking forward to McPhee tonight. I didn’t care much for her in Season 5 - she was either really good or really bad - not consistent. So hopefully she’ll be “on”. Maybe she needs to ask for her extensions back?

  4. 4 MN Sue Mar 12th, 2008 at 2:07 pm

Kat is with David Foster. Of course, she will be “on”! He wouldn’t stand for anything less. I think she will make her fans proud of her and her selection will be more in step with what suits voice. Do we know what she will be singing? Wait a minute…that sounds like I care.

Songwriting contest? They really don’t learn, do they?

  6. 6 Nanny Mcphee Mar 12th, 2008 at 2:34 pm

Kat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jittery_tb: Damn right she’ll make us proud. Seeing her on that big stage again, OMG I can’t wait. No clue what she is singing, and I really don’t care. It’s just so great. Now why they didn’t have her back when she had a new album to promote I’ll never understand, but I’m just so excited for her, because in all her myspace bulletins that she has been sending her fans she sounds so excited and honored to be there again. Yay!!!!!!!!! :blush_tb:

Nanny, I’m honestly happy for you. You’ve waited a looong time for this.

I’m so torn right now on whether Kristy or Syesha goes…My logic tells me Kristy, but my heart/idol experience tells me Syesha…IM TORN…and i want to do the all or nothing with the points thingy.

Thank you so much. I love Non-Kat fans like you. You might not be a fan, but you don’t slam her every chance you get. It’s very refreshing. I just love her so much, I can’t explain why, but I do. I can’t even put it into words actually. Again….. :blush_tb:

    Me too, Nanny Mcphee.

  11. 11 calimari Mar 12th, 2008 at 4:03 pm

Yeah - I have to hand it to Nanny for being really good and patient Kat fan. I know I’d be jumping with excitement too if Taylor was going to be on tonight, and I’m sick of comments from non-Taylor fans just as you are from non-Kat fans. She does seem to really shine when she’s working with David Foster so I hope she brings a performance worth waiting for, at least for you Nanny!

Sure you can! Just as long as you don’t take it personally….

Kat is about a year overdue for her AI appearance. As long as she doesn’t yodel 8 Days a Week, I’ll be perfectly happy to see her. (I’m assuming that her performance will not cancel out the cheesy group song. We have one hour to kick off one person, right? Other than the Ford commercial and the Horton Hears a Who pimping, what else are they going to do?)

  15. 15 MN Sue Mar 12th, 2008 at 5:11 pm

Songwriting contest again?? Gee, why not. It worked so well last year. With all the singer/songwriters destined to make the Top 6 just let ‘em do what they do best, sing their own stuff. Wait, maybe David C. won’t be able to rock out with a robed choir in the wings. Maybe Michael won’t be able to “acquire” another song from his former band. Maybe Brooke won’t be able to hit that glory note. Maybe Jason won’t be able to handle a key change mid song. Maybe Carly will balk at calling Josiah for help. Maybe David A. is only good at regurgitating other people’s shmaltz. And the biggest maybe of all - maybe the producers want to control which of the final two gets the Blake treatment.

  16. 16 pj Mar 12th, 2008 at 5:28 pm

LOL, MN Sue. I want either Jason or Brooke to make the finale so Simon can quote Cracker after their performance of the coronation song.

Simon: “What the world needs now is another folk singer, like I need a hole in my head. Sorry. Just not good enough.”

Actually, Simon probably has never heard the Cracker song, so it would never happen.

I just hope to see Ruben again. wish he had stayed with the Luther gendre.

  18. 18 MN Sue Mar 12th, 2008 at 5:54 pm

I don’t care who wins this thing. But I do care about Idol finally recognizing the draw indie voices and viewpoints have on the viewing public. Here’s to Brooke and Jason doing their thing for as long as possible. (Hey, if Michael would just wake up and smell the coffee, his voice could easily fit into the indie market, IMO. It’s smooth and rich and nary a strainy high note would be required. I might be one of the few who thought he did awesome last night).

Ooops, I see by her recap, mj liked it, too.

  19. 19 cheese Mar 12th, 2008 at 6:08 pm

Thanks, pj. Now I’m going to have to grub around in my mother’s basement looking for my old Cracker cassettes. :)

Has anyone caught wind of a Nigel interview or anything today? It’s always interesting to hear his results night pimping, lame excuses, misguided viewpoints, etc. regarding the previous night’s show.

  20. 20 Bobbi Mar 12th, 2008 at 6:17 pm

Well, Ryan said they were going to announce the mentors so they could always show background packages on each one. That would kill a lot of time.

Carp, can’t take a swipe at Kat now……*mutters*

If you must take a swipe at her, please feel free, I won’t take it personally. I don’t understand all the swipes, but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. :bye_tb:

    Kat. :wub_tb:

  22. 22 MaryS-NJ Mar 12th, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Does anyone know what Mrs. Cokas will be singing tonight? “Yesterday”, perchance?

And, maybe the songwriting competition will work differently this year… as in - not rushed and more variety of styles.

  23. 23 pj Mar 12th, 2008 at 6:50 pm

Cheese, this is the site that featured the Nigel interviews last year. I checked it out last week and it had a picture of Blake and Jordin. That’s gone, so maybe we’ll get something new soon. So far, it’s all last year’s junk.

  24. 24 MN Sue Mar 12th, 2008 at 6:52 pm

I truly hope Ryan lets Chikezie complete his fantastic week by giving him his safe verdict first. Let some of the others stew in their own juices for once.

Songwriting contest? They really don’t learn, do they?

No, they really, really don’t. I have ALWAYS, ALWAYS hated the coronation song.

Is it only me, or does it seem like every year it is just a little bit worse than the year before?

  26. 26 sciencefan Mar 12th, 2008 at 8:16 pm

    Notice:
    AI starts at 8:55 PM!

  27. 27 Sherry L Mar 12th, 2008 at 8:58 pm

Well, I’m not a Kat fan, but I’m glad her fans will get to see her. I wonder why her and Taylor were not on last year (except Taylor in the finale)? I wonder if they will ever have Taylor. Do they really hate him that much?

Songwriting contest? That song last year was no different than what they normally have! And that’s not good.
