Idol Bits and Pieces - Kellie Pickler Performs on Idol This Wednesday

The Idol folks are wisely bringing back former Idols to perform on the big stage during the Results show this season. This Wednesday’s Top 11 Results Show will feature Kellie Pickler. Next week for the Top 10, Season 2’s Kimberley Locke returns to perform her new single “Fall”.

Check your DVRs! The big Idol Gives Back special on Wednesday April 9th, will run for 2 1/2 hours and will begin 30 minutes before prime-time, at 7:30 ET. Better to disrupt Simpson’s reruns than the FOX affiliates newscasts at 10 pm, I suppose.

Speaking of Idol Gives Back, The Clark Brothers, the winners of last Fall’s Next Great American Band, are scheduled to perform for the big fundraiser. What? You say you didn’t watch Next Great American Band? You and 99.9% of the population. The better the surprise will be, then. The Clark Brothers are incredible singer/musicians. I’m happy that they will finally be exposed to a big audience. Folks will be blown away.

I’ve been hearing that Austin Clark will be on hand for this week’s performance show. He’ll be playing dobro for one of the contestants. Watch for that!

ETA: Tonight’s show is another 2-hour extravaganza.  Next week, the performance show cuts back to 90 minutes.

Every dang bit of this report from you, MJ, was excellent news. Love me some Pickler and I have always been a really big fan of Kim Locke. (Watching her on Idol Rewind only reinforces that opinion. She was SO great on that show and her commentary is hilarious.)

I was among the 1% watching NGAB, but I was a Sixwire girl myself. It will be fun to see the Clark’s tear it up again (tear as in rip, not cry! :happy_tb: )

Ladybug likee this news right here!

Yay for Kellie, I adore Miss Pickler, and am glad to see idol playing it very smart. Their credibility lies in the success of their alumni, not Shakira, Akon, or Jlo. Can’t wait to see Miss Locke either, it’s been a long time since she’s been on the idol stage. Let’s see what her numbers look like in April!

I was in the 1%. I wasn’t totally invested in NGAB, but enjoyed the show and there were some talented bands on there. Clark Bros were awesome! Excited, along with MJ, for their exposure to a big audience.

All the ex-Idols need a Boost….this reminds me of the Ed Sullivan Show (see how old I am?) and how an appearance on Sullivan’s show was a big boost to an entertainer’s career. They would kill to be on Sullivan’s show…and I can imagine that non-Idols would love the exposure too. A really BIG Show!

    Dear MJ,
Thanks for the information. AI is my favorite show. MJ, do you know if the Idol folks are bringing back Melinda Doolittle for Idol Gives Back?
I read somewhere that she’ll be part of the show but I think the correct answer will come from you.

    Thanks again,
    Marian

One thought on how to bring in the former Idols: the Idol finale should be 3 hours in length (from 7-10 pm/6-9 pm Central) and it should be entirely current and past Idol contestants. All 6 past winners, along with almost every notable alumnus, should be there, as should all of this year’s top 24.

That way, the “others” don’t drown out the show, and with 3 hours, going over the alloted time does not become an issue.

I’m looking forward to Kellie and Kim! I love them bringing back former contestants. Just wish Dancing With The Stars had not scheduled their show against AI tonight. I’ll record it but no way will I be able to stay up late enough to watch it tonight.

    A really BIG Show!

I’m there with ya Chicago-Sally. After I read your post, my mind instantly went “a reaallly big SHOE” (Lancelot Link)

PS- I really missed having Bergoffs last time I was in Chicago. Tragedy it closed.

I really can’t wait to see The Clark Brothers on IGB. I’m glad they’ll be getting some exposure to a big audience, because they are absolutely INCREDIBLE.

And I’m totally excited about seeing Kellie tomorrow night!

Thanks for the heads up, MJ. I look forward to seeing my fave NGAB musician Austin again. I hope Chikezie is the lucky one…they both rock! No matter who it is, this is gonna be gooood.
