This song is indeed a favorite karaoke tune where I’m from. My friends and I even won some Coke tumblers (much like the ones the judges are using) for singing it at a karaoke booth at a local university fair a few years ago. LOL

“Every Time You Go Away” was sung by Anthony Federov in the Season 4 CD and I don’t want to hear anyone else singing it. Journey had so many great songs, I had hoped they would pass on “Open Arms” this year.
I think David A. could probably sing every song on this list, yet I am rooting for Jason Castro. I hope he gets an umptempo song!
I see there are others who agree with me! I really do like this group of guys and can actually see any of them on the tour. It looks like Luke will leave, but I don’t know who the other one will be.
Please send Danny Boi home this week, so we can have some serious competition.
Strip club: ‘Idol’ once danced here
LOS ANGELES - “American Idol” contestant David Hernandez once entertained audiences by removing his clothes instead of singing tunes, a manager at a male strip club in Phoenix told The Associated Press.
The 24-year-old finalist from Glendale, Ariz., once worked as a stripper at Dick’s Cabaret, appearing fully nude and performing lap dances for the club’s “mostly male” clientele, club manager Gordy Bryan said Monday.
“He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here,” Bryan said.
It’s not clear whether a history as a stripper could disqualify Hernandez from the competition…

Good morning, jersey. :) Yeah…I am not a big David H. fan, but I think he’s one of the more vocally talented ones and it’s very unfortunate if this hurts his chances to go further in the show.

The story about David H. hit Fox news? Wow! VFTW broke that story. I’m guessing he gets dropped. But will he get dropped before he gets to sing tomorrow?
Now THAT is a repetative song I hope not to hear. I am just not a fan. It’s kind of like Beyonce’s “Check Up On It”… are there any other lyrics?
As for David Hernadez, you know they do background checks. I am sure they didn’t intend for him to last this long, but a quick check would have showed his employment at the club. It’s getting AI attention, not the best kind, but attention none the less. Besides, he’s got an AWESOME voice!

Even if they can’t DQ him, I am sure the producers will find a way to make him leave this week (give him last minute bad song selection, bad judges comments, etc). Too bad, he was my favorite of the guys, and I could care less about his background. What I don’t get is why VFTW outed him, because isn’t VFTW’s Dave Della Terza gay? Are they gonna dig up the dirt on Danny next? This witch hunt bs really pisses me off.

I think the only way David H would be disqualified for that would be if he didn’t tell the producers about it. They’ve seemed in the past few years to allow people to stay on the show (Scott Savol anyone?) as long as they were made aware of any past “indiscretions” in advance. Now, it affecting whether or not people vote for him, I could see that happening. But he might also get people voting for him who haven’t before. I think it’s a shame if it hurts him in the long run though… he has a fabulous voice.
But seriously, what people (*cough*clubowner*cough*) won’t do for money and exposure.
Yeah, I don’t think they’ll disqualify him, either. I do think they would probably like the problem to go away before top twelve, though. I’m sure AI is happy for any media discussion, heh, it’s all publicity. David being in top twelve would be more problematic for them. And I definitely think they would prefer that he not be in top 10 and then go on tour. Look for David H. and Luke to get bad comments from the judges tonight, regardless of how they really do. (Chickizie, too, if he’s really doing “Celebration”)

These are some terrible song choices, IMO. I’m not the biggest fan of 80s music anyway, but there were some fun bands and songs - none of which are on this stale, stale list. *No Culture Club????*
Re David H. - Exotic dancing isn’t illegal. It is, however, something that will upset some of the folks watching the show. I don’t think the PTB should (or will) try to maneuver his boot this week, because they will figure the audience will take care of that for them soon enough. But we’ll see.
I figure whoever gets saddled with Celebration is the one the PTB want to go home, and We Built This City. Although, I can see Carly doing Grace Slick power pop, so who knows?
What about appearing in topless photos on the internet ? Is that illegal ? I’m talking about Frenchie Davis.
She says she was upfront with American Idol from the beginning about this episode. Here’s what she said :

1-Everytime you go away: Jason Not one of my favorite songs, but I think he’d do a good job. More of a default choice.
2-what about love: Ramielle Neither Kady or Carly will do Heart two weeks in a row. A power rock song for a power-rocker.
3-tainted love: Danny And VFTW rejoices!
4-the greatest love of all: Syesha She’ll grab Whitney the first chance she gets.
5-father figure: David H Just a feeling.
6-open arms: David A Per the rumors. And Randy will remind us he used to play bass for Journey.
7-rebel yell: David C Again per the rumors.
8-the rose: Brooke She’ll stay somewhat within her box with the beautiful ballad.
9-bette davis eyes: Kristy Lee The closest song on this list to a country song. Kim Carnes sang with Kenny Rogers before recording this classic.
10-celebration: Chikezie Cheese, meet cheese
11-call me: Carly A power rock song that’s not Heart for a better power rocker than Ramille.
12- always something there to remind me: Kady Again, a default choice.
13-whats love got to do with it: Asia’h She’ll want to sing from one of her idols.
14-hurts so good Michael Although he’s no Mellencamp, I think Michael will do well.
15-we built this city: Amanda She’d do better with Bette Davis Eyes, but I can’t see her making that good of a song choice. I’m not crazy about this either.
16-every breath you take: Luke Which will probably assure his ticket home. Luke, I like you hon, but you’re better in a group than solo.
Less than 30 minutes to go. Hope one of the TVs in my house will be free.

I actually think Amanda could do this song justice, but I really want to hear her take on “What’s Love Got to do With It” (but figure it will be done by Asia’h.) I think Ramielle may do the Whitney song.
