Katie Holmes Taping SYTYCD Performance in L.A.

The actress was spotted arriving at a sound stage on the CBS Studio lot — where STYCD airs live each week — this morning.

“They are making it seem like a huge Broadway production,” the source tells Us. “It’s a massive set.”

See how Katie Holmes’ hair has changed over the years.

Holmes — who was also spotted rehearsing at CBS Studios yesterday — “has been working on this for a long time,” the source says. “She is working with the choreographer Tyce Diorio. They want it to seem like she waltzed in and put it together very quickly, but that’s really not the case. This has been a longtime in the making.”

Adam Lambert: ‘This Whole Experience Is Liberating’

Meeting his own American idol.
“I met Madonna and that was pretty wild. Most everybody I’ve met is pretty cool and on the level, but Madonna is just legendary. I was definitely the most starstruck with her. I’ve been a fan of hers since I was a kid. So that’s definitely part of the intimidation factor.”

Rumors that he’s working with Lady Gaga’s producer, RedOne.
“I can say that is true. We have been writing the past couple days and I think we’re going to come out with some amazing tunes. I’m going to have my own sound but I do love Lady Gaga. I’m a huge fan.”

Preparing for his debut album.
“I have been doing a lot of writing, actually. It’s been really exciting. I think something that people can expect from the album is that, lyrically, everything that I’m singing about is true to my life. That’s important to me, its something I can connect to personally. I think this is the album that’s going to be fun and exciting and sexy and also going to have positive hopeful messages.”

Better than Ezra leader finds kindred spirits on ‘AI’

Watching “American Idol” has become a ritual in the Los Angeles home of Better Than Ezra [ tickets ] vocalist/guitarist Kevin Griffin. It should be. After all, he’s written songs for a number of contestants.

“I have a song called ‘Avalanche’ that [David Cook and I] wrote together,” Griffin said during a recent interview with LiveDaily via telephone from New Orleans. “I’ve written with David Archuleta; our song didn’t make the album. I’m writing right now with Jason Castro and another kid, Josiah Leming, I just produced a song. He got kicked off early and he was really, really good. I’m hoping to write with Kris Allen. We’ll see.

“A lot of these ‘Idol’ guys, they’re kind of doing what I do really well,” he added. “It’s just kind of my thing. It’s great. It’s so hard to break an artist these days. These ‘Idol’ kids already have their names out there. Everybody knows them. Half the battle is done. That’s why it’s so successful. Love it or hate it, ‘Idol’ is here to stay–at least the reincarnations. I’m a fan. I did not like it at first, but it’s just good TV.”

Fox announces fall schedule

The net starts with the fall edition of “So You Think You Can Dance” on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m., leading in to the regular series premiere of “Glee” (which was previewed on air in May) at 9 p.m.

Fox originally had announced a two-hour “Dance” on Tuesdays this fall. The show eventually will expand to two hours on the night, starting Oct. 27, a week after the “Hell’s Kitchen” finale.

Paris Torres, Tony Ballissimo dish on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

Paris Torres doesn’t “begrudge” So You Think You Can Dance’s judges for using the fact that many of the season’s other female finalists are also contemporary dancers as a factor in their decision to eliminate her from the show’s fifth season.

“I knew being through it last year that they are typecasting for the show. They need certain personalities, they need certain ethnicities, they need certain styles of dance,” Torres told reporters during a Friday conference call.

“I am thankful for the opportunity I got on the show,” Bellissimo told reporters during a separate Friday conference call. “I will definitely come back into the dancing field as a better and stronger trained dancer and definitely watch out for my creative ideas; they’re coming. I have a lot more ideas to come.”

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Predicting who’ll go home is, like, hard!

It has been five days since the Top 20 on this season’s So You Think You Can Dance first strut their stuff, and I gotta say, I’m pretty stoked: Other than couples Asuka & Vitolio, Jonathan & Karla, and Tony & Paris — i.e. last week’s bottom three couples — the rest of the dancers were all effin’ terrific. But I have to admit, I’m also pretty worried, since it’s clear that given the high caliber of dancing this season, figuring out which high-steppers are going home is going to become really hard, really fast, and I’m supposed to be the “expert” on EW.com’s SYTYCD Prediction Challenge. Instead, I’m just 303rd out of 2,196-and-counting players, and although I think that’s in something like the 85th percentile (stat geeks, help me out here with the math), I really ought to be doing better.

Katie Holmes on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Why not?

There are multiple reports surfacing online that Katie Holmes will perform on So You Think You Can Dance in what’s rumored to be a massive movie musical number by regular SYTYCD choreographer Tyce Diorio and featuring several SYTYCD alums. Although no one connected with the Fox series will comment to EW.com about it, judge and exec producer Nigel Lythgoe let slip to some paparazzi that he’s met with Mrs. Tom Cruise, and that the show has something “very, very, very special” in the works. Some are speculating that the plan is for the number to air on the show’s 100th episode in July, while others are wondering why the program would celebrate that milestone with, of all people, Katie Holmes. Can we say random?

Thank you MJ for being the voice of reason. I have also been nervous about Kris’s lack of media attention, but I will just sit back and see how things ride out. I plan to support Kris with my wallet and hope that all of his fans are planning on doing the same. I completely trust him to put out a CD that will expose and endear him to fans outside of the AI bubble. I just really hope he gets the support from his record label that he deserves.

It would be nice if they started with fixing his myspace so you can add him as a friend.

  • unique28v:

I think that they are both horrible.

I agree. The websites are both bad. What is that picture they have of Adam?? It doesn’t even look like him. lol

Yup! Thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s why heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s kind of the stealth/Obama guy in this race (I guess ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s still a race, huh?). Continually under-estimated, always surprising to those ready to write him off.

Who is writing Kris off?? I just don’t get it. Everyone knows he won, but its not realistic to think the media, music industry, and people in general aren’t going to have interest in the other contestants. lol

Anyway, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s not in 19à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interest to promote their runner-up over their winner. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s much better for the reputation of the show to have a winner who is successful. A successful winner and runner-up is even better. No reason they canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t promote both.

I completely agree MJ. It would be bad business not to promote Kris, and they’d be stupid not to promote both of them. In the end its all about the green.

    New blog from Archie:

Before I came to Connecticut, I got to spend the night (and just for the night, not even day) in Utah. I couldn’t sleep, and I mentioned the cats on twitter… But I wrote a letter to a friend and put it in the mailbox that night, or I guess morning lol, so I wouldn’t forget to send it before I had to leave to CT. Well funny thing, when I turned the door knob it was locked. You can open it inside but not on the outside. I didn’t have my phone with me, and no one was answering the door. I tried throwing small pebbles at the window but that didn’t work either. So there I was in my PJ’s outside, without shoes, and cold! I ran down the street to keep the blood going and went to a friend’s house, hoping they’d be awake or more responsive than at my place haha. I knocked on the window that I thought was my friend’s room, but I’m guessing that I guessed wrong or he wasn’t awake, or something. I went back to the front and just knocked on the door, and thankfully his dad happened to be awake. So he opens the door and there I am standing in my PJ’s feeling stupid, but I was so glad to go inside somewhere warm! Anyway I eventually got back into the house, and headed to the airport a couple hours later heh.

    more at the link

I think this is the second time I’ve heard him talk about locking himself out of the house. Haha!!

Yeah I think it’s still a race and I still like my tortoise and hare analogy. :)

Mj, I also hope your right! I have no problem with what seems to be lack of media attention right now for Kris, as long as he is promoted properly.

I also agree that that the media is the one seemingly grabbing up the press for Adam, not 19…I don’t think…

    ROFL at david…

  • jpfan:

Looking back at S5, it’s hard to believe that Taylor refused to record his album while on tour. At the time, I think most people believed winning Idol was enough to sell a minimum of a million albums. No problemo. So he was staying true to vision, not rushing out a crap album etc.

But that was before album sales collapsed and Taylor didn’t sell platinum. That said, I still expect Kris to do well. However, it’s never a good thing to have Simon be meh on your win. That’s usually a bad thing.

That worries me about Kris. I think Simon liked Cook and was sort of neutral on Jordin. The only two winners I’ve really heard him diss were Taylor and Kris.

The below are a couple of tweets from someone with the twitter name cr2kyra who lives in Virgina Beach and who claims her brother was on a flight with Kris from ORF (wherever that is) to Chicago. [note: I took the twitter accounts out of these before copying]

    # @ xxxxx not sure who assuming same place as JTimberlake. Radio said why this am…about 1 hour ago from Twitterrific in reply to xxxx

    # @ xxxxx kris was in va beach to record album & he went to The Frey concert last night…about 2 hours ago from Twitterrific in reply to xxxx

    # My bro flew 1st class next to Kris Allen from ORF to Chicago! Lucky.about 7 hours ago from Twitterrific

Now, IF this is true (and I don’t know whether it is), if some local radio station in Virginia is reporting this…is there some reason 19/Jive couldn’t release this information to the public? It doesn’t have to be a big declaration — a short press release would be fine. I don’t think that’s too much to ask, is it?

  • hermy:

David flippin cracks me up, lol

  • cookcricket:

You know girlygirl, I was just thinking that there is no reason to assume anything but that Kris is working hard on his album. I agree a little info here and there would be nice, though.

Virgina Beach and who claims her brother was on a flight with Kris from ORF (wherever that is) to Chicago.

ORF is the airport code for Norfolk International Airport in Norfolk, Virginia. All airports have three letter codes and you’ll see them encoded on your luggage (e.g. LAX for Los Angeles International Airport and LHR for London Heathrow). So, Kris would have flown from ORF to ORD. LOL.

yeah, they never release anything like this because nothing is ever definite about what is going to be on the album until the album is actually released.

I agree. I may even go as far as to say even the artists that are tweeting about working w/Adam, shows nothing definite about his final album. Right?

  • Kirsten:

I may even go as far as to say even the artists that are tweeting about working w/Adam, shows nothing definite about his final album.

Correct. In the past, there has been a lot of comments about collaborations and such, but they don’t all make the record. And sometimes the label tries out one direction and it doesn’t pan out they way they thought so they change directions. And that was in the days (i.e. before this year) when people were twitting everything they are doing. I have to admit that it is kind of fun though.

It sounds like Adam is having fun and working with some great people, so that’s half the battle (if not more).

  • vanjess38:

I think we should all keep calm about these guys. I know everyone is so anxious about what his/her favourite is going to put out. I am sure they are all working hard to please us. About Kris, we all know he likes to keep himself under the radar till things happen and from what I personally saw on Idol, it really worked for him and I believe he’s going to do great. I don’t think he even wants the press to be following him. About Simon dissing Kris, hell no ! I watched Simon carefully thru’ idol and believe you me, he likes Kris. Simon always played with the with us, if you think he gives bad comments to prevent people from voting for a contestant, you’re wrong. It’s the other way round. Check his reaction when Kris made it to the top 2.

Since we’re talking about collaboration rumors, here’s another one… There is speculation that David A. has been working with Max Gousse. This rumor came about from the fact that Max’s daughter tweeted David, saying that it was nice seeing him for the past two days. Who is Max Gousse, you ask?…

Max Gousse is an accomplished entrepreneur, an influential music industry executive, and a pop music tastemaker. As Executive-Vice President of A&R and New Business Development for Music World Entertainment, he is responsible for producing albums for music superstars Beyonce and Destiny’s Child. In 2007 he supervised the biggest radio airplay and digital download of the year: “Irreplaceable” and the Grammy Award-winning Multi-platinum album “B-Day.” He also worked on the Golden-Globe winner “Dreamgirls.” Upcoming projects include the new Beyonce album and the Cadillac Records Soundtrack.
